Hahaha- College Humor has their season 2 version of Game of Thrones as an RPG. Funny stuff.

Just read the first book, it was pretty good. The show is pretty close to the book.
Only the first season is like that. It starts to deviate more as the seasons progress.
The main plot is still there, a lot of events remain unchanged, but there ARE some big changes.

I just read the second book, and it is quite different.
I liked the book version of Harrenhal better, especially the part with the hot soup being thrown in the guards faces.
I think the show did a better job of showing Maester Luewin's death, much more emotional than the book did it IMO.
Both the show version and the book version of Dany bored me to tears, however. I don't find either version of her to be that interesting.
Book Stannis isn't quite as cool as show Stannis, although I like how the book portrays his puritanical nature.
I think the actor who portrays Theon does an excellent job, his acting is in line with how I picture book Theon.
Now I must read book three.

That is hilarious!
And all true. Especially with the Littlefinger interludes, and Daenerys' WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS scenes.

I didn't recognize him right away but see that he was in the 13th Warrior, and was a redhead in that film so not sure if that was a dye job or his hair color just changed.
*edit* Sorry, that guy I posted before was not him in 13th Warrior- this was...

Still seemingly missing out on Mance Rayder, Ramsay Bolton, Strong Belwas and Tormund Giantsbane (unless they're cutting Belwas and Tormund).

Nice to see they did cast the Reeds . . . and the Queen of Thorns.
But still no Ramsay? Or maybe they're just not announcing it yet?

I don't think they've started filming yet, at leat that's the vibe I got from what Jojen's actor said ( I'm eager to get started ).

I think they've at least started filming some stuff, probably just not Jojen's stuff.
Winter is Coming has a more complete breakdown of the new cast in addition to the ones in the video (Blackfish, Missandei, Meera, Jojen, Orell, Shireen, Beric, Thoros and the Queen of Thorns:
Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane.
Philip McGinley as Anguy
Tara Fitzgerald as Selyse Baratheon
Tobias Menzies as Edmure Tully (In the description of Edmure on WiC it sounds like they're starting things off with Hoster Tully already dead...not surprising I guess)
Anton Lesser as QyburnSo what other roles does that leave? Mostly Mance Rayder, Ramsay Bolton, Vargo Hoat, Dalla and Val. They cast Qyburn, so I can't see them not casting Vargo. Although maybe they find some way to push back some of those guys until season 4 since they're splitting ASoS? Kind of odd they casted smaller roles like Anguy or Orell too instead of Lem Lemoncloak or Tom of Sevenstreams or Varamyr Sixskins or the Magnar of Thenn.

On the subject of Ramsay Bolton, uh...I'm gonna assume this gets explained later, but isn't he dead? I'm about 3/4 of the way through ACoK and Rodrik appears to have killed him.

Also I wish they'd announce already who is playing Mance Rayder. I'm hoping its either Kevin Mckidd (Lucius Vorenus from HBO's Rome) or James Purefoy (Mark Antony also from HBO's rome)

My friend's gonna be aggravated, he's reading the books as the show progresses, trying to stay in line with it.
Half a book one year, the other half the next? Ouch.

Yeah, more actors from Rome would be a good thing. Purefoy could be good for several roles I think - Mance, Euron Greyjoy, the Red Viper...
