Season 3 and 4 will supposedly split Storm in half, although this seasons finale is apparently going to be the Red Wedding so I don't think it's quite halved. In saying that, the second half has a lot more going on compared to the first.

I think the good thing in splitting up ASoS for the show is that they hopefully can spread their budget around more. That trailer looked like it had some really nice production values all around. Whereas with season 2 you knew they were holding back for the big Blackwater battle.

But there really isn't any huge battle in the first half of ASoS so they can hold off for that untl season 4 and the second half of ASoS.

Well, it'll also help stall for later books   I guess they'll try to sort out the convoluted timeline for books 4 & 5 and put those into two seasons.  Good luck with that; I still can't make heads or tails of what happens concurrent with what for the most part.

Also, can I say how much I'm looking forward to seasons 3 & 4 just for the inevitable nerd rage?  I might be kind of a bad person for that

Going by the content of the first and second parts of ASoS, I think I'm actually looking forward more to what season 4 will theoretically contain over season 3. I just think more happens in the second half and therefore will make for better story.

Still, I'm really hyped for this season, so much that I nearly forgot about my birthday next week. Can't wait.

Also, looking forward to see how Mance Rayder is portrayed and shown. He doesn't have all that much 'show time' in the book.

I had the you-know-what spoiled for me in book 3, and still sat there with my mouth hanging open for the better part of ten minutes. Watching it is going to be agonizing.

I've seen so many people on Tumblr declare Joffrey a monster. I always feel tempted to ask them if they've heard of Ramsay.

If The Winds of Winter isn't out by the time they're starting on the AFfC/ADwD seasons, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to get three seasons out of those books, just to delay a little more. ADwD is itself about as long as Swords, anyways.

I hope this season (or season 4) they actually show Stannis with Lightbringer doing the whole magic sword thing. That was missing in Blackwater.
