Budgets.

Of course I took that into consideration when I proposed the question. It'd be pretty damn expensive, but wouldn't hundreds of extras + costumes sot even more?

Mocap was something rarely done when Two Towers game up, no? Now even video games use that technology. I don't know if you've seen the extended cut special features of LOTR, but they go into a lot of detail when talking about the huge armies they have in the movie.

I can't remember the name of the program used, but I think it was designed for LOTR specifically, surely that tech would be more readily available now, no? Perhaps even cheaper.

Edit: MASSIVE

Tywin is a badass. Seriously, that man is the epitome of a morally grey character. Damn, he's just...

Okay, enough fangasms... oh wait. DID YOU SEE JORAH THE ****ING EXPLORER?! Just...

Ygritte... they're teasing the Lord's Kiss, just...

You know, that wouldn't be too big of a fuss if just based on the books, but Rose Leslie....damn.....

My mom is like super anxious for it to start.

She keeps fangasming all over the place.

I heard her talking to a friend over the phone about it yesterday and she's all super loud saying, "My son said this, my son said that, etc etc I CAN'T WAIT OH MY GOD"

All I ever said was that this season is the season that includes the most rises and falls.

And deaths. (like I'm going to spoil who)

Yeah, that made me nerdgasm as hell. Along with other scenes. Maybe the whole trailer.

Anyhow, can't wait til March 31. Will be a joy to experience the show, especially with my exams soon over. I consider this my reward.

Yea that was awesome.

Although I did want to point out to Tyrion that the westerland, even if they were afraid of Tywin (though apparently the people also love him), they would not be united with the others against him or through fearing him in the same way.

But whatever, still a badass moment.

And yea Tywin is and will most likely forever remain my favorite ASoIaF character.

*Sees discussion of how badass Tywin Lannister is*

I approve!

I'm currently reading A Storm of Swords, almost half way through S and S, but so far I really liked Tyrion's initial conversation with his father. I think it's also been very clever how GRR Martin never did a POV for Tywin, as much as I would have loved it, we always see him from the perspective of other characters, From Tyrion's horrid relationship, to Jamie or Tywin's brother Kevan.

Hence, we get a lot more from Tywin in the TV series than we might with other characters, plus Charles Dance has done a great job, regarding Tywin actually giving the details of his house, father, legacy and motivations to Arya, Jamie and even Tyrion. More so than we get via the POVs in the books.

Edit:

Dani's story looks more interesting than season 2 which necessitated her running round crying "where are my dragons!"

I initially did wish for a Tywin pov, but then realized that not having a pov presented Tywin for what he is: a larger than life kind of figure that deliberately wants to be illusive. Not knowing what's going on in his mind is part of his appeal.

Not to mention that a pov would spoil the epic plot twist of Storm of Swords.

My favorite Tywin scene from the show remains his first appearance, in his camp skinning a stag while talking with Jaime. It was a genius scene that captures the character to a large extent imo (still flawed though when compared to book Tywin).

My favourite scene, just for the hell of it, was the part where he rides into court. I'm betting you no other Lord in Westeros could have pulled of that sense of majesty and power as well as Tywin Lannister.

The horse **** also made me giggle xD clever HBO ;-)

I have to say that I prefer Charles Dance as Tywin (appearance wise) to what he is described as in books. I think Dance suits him quite well.

Well, reading the books after watching the show, I now envision the characters of the books as their television interpretations.

Yep, that's mostly what I do. Well, all except the Mountain. I just conjure up a totally different picture of him compared to the show.

When I think of The Mountain That Rides, I think of the Season 1 version.

I really REAAAAALLY want him back. But he won't return which makes me sad, so I'll just imagine he's still around in the show.

Conan Stevens

Then again Conan Stevens did say, "Of course, if I were asked to appear in season 03 I would be very excited to do so."

So I certainly hope they decided to bring him back. The new Mountain(Ian Whyte) just isn't the same, plus he's already got the role of the White Walker everyone recognizes and he's supposed to play ANOTHER role in Season 3, so come on.

Gimme my Conan back.

Yeah, that was some good casting. I still like Tywin's initial description in the books however- that the moment he started going bald he just said **** it and shaved his head, showing he's not the kind of guy to engage in half measures, right down to his hairstyles. Always pictured him looking kind of like Ed Harris.

Yeah, especially for a certain scene in Season 4...

Or at least give Ian Whyte some shoulder pads or something. He's a tall guy but he is no where near as big as Conan was, which is kind of a big part of what makes Gregor so intimidating. He's supposed to be a giant guy that could snap you in half, not Manute Bol.

I will never enjoy The Mountain That Rides vs. The Red Viper as much as I could've if Gregor isn't played by Conan Stevens.

That would kill me. I'd just sit there depressed.
