In other news Melisandre is a master troll, Joffery remains a total *****, and Jon Snow may have gotten slightly less stupid.
Robb Stark can't seem to catch a break, it's a good thing he has some skilled commanders and good men like that Roose Bolton on his side.

Oh, man, that's gonna be good. Who was that with him, though? A Frey? Can't be Lord Karstark, right?
Tormund doesn't look quite like how I picture him, but I expect I'll grow used to it as the season goes on since Jon spends half the book with him and Ygritte. Also north of the Neck, I like how they altered Winterfell in the opening credits, with it half destroyed and smoking.
It almost feels like they're laying Margaery on too thick, but then you remember she's like that in the books too and a genuinely pretty good person is something of a rarity. Plus she's got her scheming side too, I can't wait for when Sansa has her little lunch with her and the Queen of Thorns.
Speaking of Sansa, I think they made the right call in chucking Dontos out of the story. He was only ever a front for Littlefinger anyways, so for TV show purposes they might as well just have Littlefinger scheming directly.
Dragons looked great, the giants looked good, was that Ghost with the Night's Watch?
And in minor character notes, Sallahdor was great, and they recreated the Astaporian Wise Master spot on.

Yeah that was Ghost. Maybe they had him stay with the Night's Watch so people would stop always wondering "WTF is Ghost?"
Also, I'm pretty sure that was Lord Karstark, I think I saw the sun emblem on his armor.

I just remembered that Ghost isn't with Jon for most of Storm of Swords, so I guess that works out well enough.
EDIT: Could've sworn Robb already executed him in Season 2. Guess that'll come up soon enough.
THE EDIT REDUX: Holy s*it I need to watch my spelling.

Mom does know that Margaery is being political and manipulative to the core? But I guess, it doesn't matter why as long as she does it.LPPrince wrote...

I do like the Tyrells, though I wasn't fond of TV Margaery up to now.

It'd have been cool to see Barristan wielding a quarterstaff like he does when he first meets Dany, as "Arstan Whitebeard". But given that there's no way they could conceal his identity in the TV show I'm not surprised they took this route.

She's trying to win over the people, which is a GREAT thing of course. A charming smile, and she walks right past a brute. She soils her cloak in the mud soaked streets. She visits an orphanage, gives gifts to all the children, and makes sure all will be well fed and cared for. All the while Highgarden is providing much necessary provisions to the people of King's Landing.
She's being a total sweetheart of course, but behind it is a reason. A motive. Part of it is obviously to improve the lives of the people of the Seven Kingdoms, but there's another reason. And that, THAT I just couldn't reveal to her.

Now I thought that was a jerk move on Barristan's part. In no way is serving Joffery a good thing, but I can't respect his reasoning in seeking out Daenerys. "Robert was a terrible king unlike your insane father who burned good men alive and planned to torch the entire city." If anything Barristan makes me respect Jaime Lannister a bit more.

Well, to be fair Joffrey's getting to be as bad as Aerys was. He's got a thing about serving the rightful ruler and has always had doubts about continuing to serve Robert, so he can't go to Robb or Stannis. Dany's really his best bet at this point.

Recon's talking about Stannis the Mannis.
Uh, also, one thing I forgot to mention above, Qyburn. He's got all of fifteen seconds of coughing, but it's nice to see our favorite necromantic mad scientist. I am curious as to how they'll set up his and Roose's move over to the Lannisters if Robb's hanging around Harrenhall with them. [spoilers I thought I should cover up preceding]

Ah ha, my appolgies then.
This is just speculation on my part, but I think Stannis got scratched of Barristan's list because of his conversion to the Red God.

Interesting that Tywin brought up not believing Tyrion is his son. He's not the only kid you should be wondering about, Ty baby. :innocent:

I think that's just a turn of phrase Tywin uses whenever he's disapointed with his children. He says much the same to Jaime at one point.

Agreed, he owes his allegiance to Robert and Ned(now either Stannis or Robb), most Lords would have killed him after the Battle of the Trident. But they let him live and keep his position. I don't see why anyone is loyal to Dany because she is a Targaryen. What the Mad King did to Rickard and Brandon was disgusting. I'd be loyal to Dany as she could be a good ruler not because she is a Targaryen.Inquisitor Recon wrote...

Robb's claim isn't stellar, but at least the Starks were Kings in the North before their ancestor swore fealty to the throne at King's Landing.

Well, in the books one reason he was incognito was to check wheteher the coin had fallen on the genius rather than on the psycho side before offering to serve Dany. It´s clear he wouldn´t have joined her brother.
And did someone define Roose Bolton as a good man? It was clearly early on the books he was the North´s Token Evil Teammate.
