Finn Jones, who's playing the Knight of Flowers in the series, tweeted something like "I had to look up the Red Wedding to see what everyone was talking about- OMFG." Heh.

Just when you think GRRM has stopped being cruel for a while...

Good stuff! Seems he was impressed....

I think one reason it affected me so much more this time is that I am now a parent to teenagers and I'm reading it from a different perspective.

Interesting tweet from the lovely Ser Loras.

GRRM never stops being cruel.

True, but at about three chapters in I started thinking "every single person is going to die."  And they don't, though all of them suffer.

Ep # 3 is titled "Lord Snow." Looks good for some Ghost.

Yes!  I had forgotten that Tyrion slaps Joffrey that early, but went back and found that that scene and the breakfast scene with the Lannisters afterward was almost word for word.  They're doing a great job.

On that note

And very excited that ADWD has gone gold!

I could watch Tyrion slapping Joffery all day, its so satisfying to see.

@Addai - I was disappointed with not enough Ghost so far, but this sounds very promising. It airs here on Monday nights, so not long now!

Aside from the Royal Wedding, what are you guys most excited about seeing? For me it's Arya's whole storyline and Sandor & Sansa.

Or are we not allowed to talk about book spoilers? lol

I am most excited about seeing Melisandre appear next year. That is if "Game of Thrones" follows the one season for each book paradigm.

MISSING!!

One Direwolf. White. Answers to the name of Ghost.

If found, please return to Jon Snow, at Castle Black, The Wall.

I don't understand... it's very disappointing!! Ghost, buddy!!! However, other than this outrage, ep 3 was really good. Gah, the sets of King's Landing are so beautiful. And I burst into tears any time Ned and Arya are on screen together. She and Forel also= awesome.

Ep. 3 was very good. I even liked the new scenes (the ones not in the book) and the changes they made to existing scenes.

Overall, I'm very pleased with what they've done with this.

And yes - Syrio Forel was perfect!!!!!

Syrio was the highlight of that episode. I was practically transfixed during that scene. Great casting and choreography there.

I've enjoyed the series so far, although I dislike the casting of Sansa and Cat in particular. I do not think they fit. Arya and Forel are brilliant, though. So is Littlefinger. Really does fit.

I also dislike the fact that Ghost is totally non existant. Terrible. He's a major part whenever Jon figured in the books, so that's pretty lame.

It's understandable that the direwolves aren't following the Starks around everywhere, it's hard enough as it is to film scenes with animals.

Yeah, I understand that, but I feel that they are an important part of the characters and should therefore be part of a the series, too.

I think the casting of Sansa is good. She's older than the books, but she has to be. Sophie Turner has the dreamy/ whiny side down and also the flashes of Stark temper, as in the scene where they were talking about Lady. (Laaadyyyy.... Image IPB)

I do have to say that I don't like Michelle Fairley as Catelyn. She's doing a decent job, but there's no spark with her and Ned, and it's hard to imagine Littlefinger (who was awesome and spot on) being obsessed with her. I just don't see it. Normally I would say actresses shouldn't need to be porcelain perfection to handle a role, but Catelyn just needs to be sexier IMO. Sorry to say.

The lack of direwolves is disapointing, even just having Ghost lurking on the screen would add a bit of authenticity.

I really don't like Michelle Fairley she seems way too old and as Addai said its hard to imagine two men fighting a duel over her.

I only noticed last night the house symbols beside each actors name in the credits. I thought that was a nice touch.

It was only one episode that they were missing, don't worry, I'm sure Ghost, Grey Wind, Shaggydog and the others will get lots of screen time.

Since direwolves are supposed to be much larger than normal wolves, perhaps they edited them out of Episode 3 so that it seems more natural when they return much larger size (CGI?) in Episode 4 or 5. (Didn't the corpse of the momma dire wolf in Ep. 1 look huge and fantastical?)

EDIT: I feel pretty dumb. Just learned that dire wolves are real extinct creatures. I always thought they existed only in fantasy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dire_Wolf

They are extinct creatures indeed. Although there have been people claiming to have spotted them still living in North America.

I can only remember seeing Ghost once so far. I didn't expect to see the others much but I expected Ghost to play a big part. Ah well theres plenty of time yet another 7 episodes to go.

I really enjoyed the scene at the start between Ned and Jaime some nice tension there.

Alot of it was shot near here but I've no idea what parts. I suppose the battles later on might well have been shot here. I know Kings Landing was shot in Malta for the exotic sunny look.

Yea, my problem with Ghost missing is that he DOES seem to play a large role in Jon's chapters. He seems almost like Jon's conscience at times. I understand the others - Lady died, Nymeria was driven away. Grey Wind isn't a huge part in Robb's story. Summer is for Bran, later on.

But really, Ghost is, IMO, a very important part of Jon's story. And we've seen him once - when he was found.

He needs to return, and soon.

Yeah I learned that from some stuck-up reviewer who was tut-tutting GRRM for using a North American creature in a European fantasy.  How does she know it's Europe?

She'll really freak out when she sees the mammoths.
