Jaime faces challenges with a much more hands-on approach than his father. His attitude, wit reputation, and family connections usually give him the upper hand when dealing with common soldiers. Yet it seems Roose Bolton's right-hand man despises sons of nobles and other highborn individuals. The Hand of the King certainly won't like this. You've got to hand it to Jamie for helping out Brienne however.

Speaking of which I wonder how Tywin will react when his son's hand arrives in the mail. Lol

FWIW the vote in our household is 2/2 in favor of Vikings over GoT. The spouse has only read book 1 of ASoIaF and hasn't been a huge fan of the show- he watches because I do- but he really likes Vikings and is recommending it to his friends.
Yeah, I just watched all of Vikings and was completely surprised with how good it is. Maybe I just had really low expectations since its on History, but its is genuinely really, really good!
Last episode with the battles in particular were really good and arguably as good as many of the battles on something like Game of Thrones. Of course Vikings isn't going for huge scale battles yet but still, very impressive and a fun show to watch.

It's a stupid stunt. I hate it even more after reading D & D's explanation. They didn't trust the impact of GRRM's story moment so they decided to break the 4th wall in the rudest, clumsiest fashion they could dream up. Is this how they're going to handle the RW?
And I suppose from now on they'll handle every tragic scene like that? A little cynicism is healthy, but the internet loves to take it too far.
I'm saying that it was pure hyperbole on your part. Of course they aren't going to handle the RW like that xD or Tywin's last ****. There was a purpose to that song, just like there was a purpose to Tywin skinning the Stag. It just seems that the majority didn't take to it (which is fine.) Not every idea works.

Horrible choice for credit song. Absolutely horrible, imagine if that played after Ned Stark's execution? Ridiculous.
I can see what you mean, but the contrast is also brilliant. The scene and the music are both similar and dissimilar at the same time, creating a rather chaotic vibe which fits perfectly with the suddenness of the scene.
I didn't think it did at all. Like it was mentionned before, it was too fast paced. We go from Jaime seemingly convincing the guy, to having a dagger in his eye, to suddenly getting his hand cut off, and before our brain can register what happened, bam stupid music pops up.
It's quite horrible, and as someone who read the books and so knows what happens, my brain didn't register it (I literally thought the channel was changed or something), so I can't imagine how pissed off I would be if I didn't read the books.
I can empathise, but I still saw it that way. Still, I knew from the moment it came on that it wasn't something which was going to be well received (unlike the awesome Rains of Castamere at the end of SE2EP9)

Hey, my joke wasn't lame! Jaime would give me a high five! Bran would give me a standing oviation! And Ned would- actually if he found out, heads would roll.

Their explanation for it was that they were so stunned by that moment in the books that they couldn't imagine playing it straight on TV. So. What other moment in the books is so stunning that you have trouble believing that it's actually happening?simfamSP wrote...

I'm glad you still have any faith in the writers, but I don't.

Ned Stark's beheading. I never heard any punk music. Anyway, you love Vikings, and have gradually detached yourself from GOT. Fine by me, I'll enjoy both :-)

I know hbo would want my money, and I really should give it to them, but as a man getting raped by his cable bill as is, I have to clutch as much of my little money as I can. I can't afford to let even a dime slip through my fingers.
What I'm trying to say, is that I think this tactic was just a little too out of hand.

Maybe instead of the last 5 mins of GOT, they'll just start playing a rerun of curb your enthusiasm.

Are you sure it was an HBO thing? Maybe the original pirate screwed up the audio encoding and it snowballed from there since most them piggyback on the original torrent.
EDIT: I also, I think we should all give Jaime a hand for helping to keep Brienne's honor safe and unbesmirched.

I didn't see that hand coming.
I really like the King Beyond the Wall character, although I don't know if I didn't like him even better if Dominic West played him (I loved him in The Wire).
