Haha, the look on Sansa's face when Margaery told that she could marry Loras was just priceless. I can imagine how she feels, getting her prince charming after all that has happened to her. Though I assume it will turn out quite a disappointment for her, consdiering Loras is in to men.

Oh, Sansa's got far bigger problems than Loras not enjoying the company of women.

I don't think it was dumb of them. The slavers never had a situation before where someone offered to buy the whole Unsullied army; they are very expensive and buying the whole force would be unaffordable by even the richest prince. That, and their greed to obtain one of the only 3 living dragons in the world made them overlook the fact.

What I found stupid was that the slavers made the transaction inside the city walls. I find it hard to believe anyone with reason would go forward which such a deal without making it outside the city, in which case an event like this could be withstanded by closing the city gates.

And even in a scenario where they made the transaction inside the walls, them selling their only defense without a force to withstand an event like this one for a dragon they don't even know how to control,  made the whole event even more dumb.

Speaking of stupid, I sure as hell hope Dany doesn't consider heading straight to Westeros with her recently acquired army. And I can't understand why she is in such a hurry to get to Westeros (and why Jorah doesn't comment on that himself). Sure, I get that Dany wants to reclaim the throne which is her 'right', but considering that she more or less has the element of surprise on her side, and more importantly time, I would find it more logical to keep harnessing her strenght and wait for the dragons to grow fully before she makes her move.

Well as I said on the last page, they didn't foresee her doing that because they are at the pinnacle of a slave economy that is networked throughout the eastern world. They simply didn't fathom that a seemingly helpless teenage girl would do something so monumentally stupid. It is stupid, BTW. Not to spoil, but Dany is acting out of sentimentality and pride and inexperience, to think that she can upset the entire economic basis of the eastern lands and not have it come back on her.

Why she's in a hurry to get to Westeros... well there are strategic reasons, namely that there's currently a civil war and she can profit from the chaos. There's also just immediate survival. Without an army and with only adolescent dragons she's a defenseless target. So even though what she did was stupid and sentimental, there are also practical reasons for why she does it.

The slavers downfall was a combination of arrogance and supreme confidence in their own intellectual and cultural superiority, the hyper underestimation for their clients intelligence and they false sense of security their language barrier provided them, and the fact that the audacity it took to pull off such a trade was something that had never been done and that no one ever thought would be done.

It reminds me of the blackwater bay wildfire plan. No one had considered sending the massive ammount of wildfire into the enemy line via a boat before, but afterwards it becomes obvious that it was what was going to happen.

In hindsight criticisms and all that.

But the slavers were kind enough to offer a "curve of the ass" discount, most slave traders don't provide that level of customer service anymore.

But...

DAT ASS!

@Darth Brotarian.

Yeah, you pretty much hit the nail of the head. Merchants of that caliber are sly and cunning by nature. But in this case, it looked like they pretty much had the upper hand. Plus, we must not forget that Dany is a woman. By all rights, she was made for bedding and cooking. Women are lesser to men, despite their 'claim to Westeros.' (Please don't think this is my actual opinion, I'm illustrating a point here.)

Greed plays a huge part too. In fact, many (otherwise intelligent) characters fall due to their greed. Greed for revenge (Cat,) greed for power (Cersi,) greed for hate (Tyrion.) And, to further demonstrate the power of underestimation we need only to look at the most magnificent bastard of them all: Tywin Lannister.

I can accept that they wouldn't consider the possiblity of anyone attempting to destroy the slave trade but it's still stupid because Daenerys could have just killed the ghiscari guard, sacked the granaries, took whatever of value there was, enslaveed the astapori and sold them at the next city.

No, she couldn't, because the people in the next city wouldn't tolerate it.

Spoiler...

That's pretty much what happens.

I belive gluttony is a more apt sin to use, imo. Still, thank you.

If I ever end up training a killer army out of thousands of eunuch slaves, I'm SO going to program some sort of a back up failsafe in their minds, preventing them from ever rising hand against me. Regardless of culture and politics the Free Cities have going, a situation where you suddenly move from having 10k of utterly loyal  slaves before you to having  army of 10k utterly devoted to some foreign entity before you is kinda undesireable.

It was awesome scene on TV, it was pretty great in books too. Underneath it all, it also is reasonably lazy video game plot twisting I says.

I've read the books. What Yunkai and Meereen do not tolerate is that Daenerys is trying to crush the slave trade, theirs included.
They really couldn't care less about Astapor. The only reason Yunkai fights a war with the city it's because of Cleon starting one.

Could people not go into spoiler territory here, please. I'm reading the books myself, and I don't want to stumble upon anything ASoIaF related here in the GoT thread. Books can be discussed in the appropriate thread, this is only for the show.

And yes, that includes not talking about A Game of Thnores and A Clash of Kings.

You think they don't care when that was the opening salvo, and where she got her army?  Okay, whatever.  I see it as all part of the consequences.

If Dany had just sacked the city and sold the people as slaves, I'd say they wouldn't care because it threatens them in no way.

"My real father lost his head at King's Landing."

Damn it Theon, stop making me feel.
I can't like you, not with what's coming.

Why are the Northerners saying they are outnumbered two to one? As I recall, Robb's army is both the North and the Riverlands, and against them are Lannisters and Highgarden. Isn't it now an even battle?

Robb lost the Freys, Lannisters gained all of Renly's former bannermen.
