Sigh...

People who think they're being clever, when they're actually just screwing it up more.

Define "hypocrite" for me, would you?

No need.  I wasn't trying to be clever.  Just remarking on how incredibly transparent your statement was.

It's sad to see the show lose some depth from the books. I suppose its a consequence of adaptations.

But yeah, the could have handled Robb's story-line a lot better. In the books, he did actually have a sound plan if it weren't for all the betrayals and his lack of foresight prior to Theon.

I still enjoy the show, hell, I love it. It's the kind of criticism that I can overlook :-)

I've watched up to episode 8 of season 2 and I'm really puzzled by two somewhat major changes made to the story. One being: why does Jaime murder his cousin? And why did they change the Qarth storyline to warlock dude (I never could remember his name) taking the dragons? And one minor change that I've heard about but no seen: why didn't Sam send the ravens?

Also having watched the Stannis map scene it doesn't seem as bad as I thought. Had it taken place after Blackwater I wouldn't have understood it but as it was it doesn't seem so bad. And the show has been great at reminding me of the events in the first two books (either when they stick to the books or change them). Christ I hated Jaime, Theon and Joffrey.

The change for Quarth was a welcome one in my opinion. It was very slow, and I doubt it would have translated well in the series.

I'll see how it turns out but before comparing them. But I don't see why they had Pyat Pree take the dragons unless they change his fate from the books.

So they'd come and see what was wrong, and because there are enough characters to cast and pay as it is. Cleos Frey is unfortunately not that important to the plot.

Else Daenerys would have little to do for almost an entire season until the final scene.

Not exactly sure why they took out a lot of the vision sequences, but I suppose it makes sense given that there's a lot less prophecies, dreams, memories, and examination of the past lore, so a lot would be lost on some people.

I had a feeling they were killing off characters so they didn't need to pay for them throughout the series. Damn.

But Daenerys did nothing for the entire season anyway. Though again killing off characters seems to be the reason why they changed it.

They've already killed off Rakharo. Won't spoil anything else.

Yeah...  I have some issues with how they're characterizing some of the characters and handling some of the storylines. But when you think about it, there are so many ways this whole series could have gone completely off the rails. Just look at how off the rails something like The Walking Dead has gone from its source material. In light of that, I think Game of Thrones has done a remarkably good job of keeping the tone of the books more or less. Certainly could be better in many ways, but it could be so much worse too.

That they had. I bet they could do a lot more, but it's a big budget show with a ton of characters, I'm betting some chapters in the book would amount to a full hour if fully translated into the series.

Roose Bolton purposely avoided a "hand" joke? For a house that loves to flay people and is into all sorts of freaky stuff, he shows a lot of class.

The end of the episode was amazing. Going from depression and horror immediately to a beautiful scene and excellent choice in credits music.

For a second there I thought they were actually going to make Reek a Karstark.  Only for a second. :)

As expected, Melisandre picks up Gendry.  I wonder where they're going with that.

Roose is basically emotionless.

He's the descendant of a Night's Watch Lord Commander and a White Walker, after all.

But he clearly knew he was about to make a hand joke, then replaced "hand" with "position." Don't know how the actor kept a straight face.

Probably just a replacement role.

If I'm right, they've done this because they don't have enough time to introduce the new character that should be, and develop him enough so that we care. Taking Gendry, a well liked character, has more of an impact than just #randombastard2

Dayum, Tumblr is pretty upset about <you know what>. I haven't seen the word misogyny used so much since, well... the last time I visited Tumblr.

My guess is Ross' role in the series. Which is blowing things out of proportion here.

I seriously don't know how you can call this episode misogynistic when you had TYWIN FREAKING LANNISTER getting a taste of his own medicine by the FREAKING QUEEN OF THORNS. No one in the Seven Kingdoms has the cojones to snap his quill xD

Ugh, quite glad to see Ross go. Was afraid ever since the final episode of Season 2 that she would keep having a larger role in the series as it continued. Glad that never happened. Still, quite a gruesome way to go.
