Great... Now they're making Tywin some homophobe to further cement his "villain" status to the simple-minded audience. Seriously that piece on Loras was unnecessary...
Joys of joys.
I actually didn't care too much for that interaction between Tywin and Olenna, as much as those 2 characters have been great on the show. Olenna's banter felt too modern or something. Her trying to tease Tywin about his boyhood "experiences" felt kind of... meh.
I don't think they're making Tywin out to be a homophobe within the world of GoT. Sure, maybe looking at him from our POV you might think that. But he doesn't give a **** about Loras' sexuality really beyond the practicality of Loras acting as the heir to Highgarden and being able to produce offspring. Being gay might make the whole producing offspring part a bit less likely if he isn't inclined to get with a woman.
I'll have to watch the episode again however. I'm probably missing something. Good episode but not quite as good as the last couple have been. It had some really lovely looking and well composed shots but the writing was a bit hamfisted at times- Littlefinger gave a nice speech there with the montage but I wish they would tone down Littlefinger's outright villainy and outward scheming. Make the guy a bit more of an enigma like he is in the books.
Looking forward to next week's episode though, GRRM wrote it and Michelle MacLaren is directing. McLaren directed some ofthe very best Breaking Bad episodes, so she certainly has the directing chops.
