Been reading the books simultaneously with the show, and I am now debating with myself whether I should read the upcoming events in A Storm of Swords Part 2, or wait til next week and experience it on TV.

Hmm...

Read Storm of Swords. Splitting it into 2 TV Seasons is turning out to be a bad thing, if you ask me. It's changing the pacing of the story dramatically. In SoS it felt like every chapter something important was happening, especially the second half.

I like the pacing of the show. It feels like theres a storm brewing, and that it's slowly getting more and more powerful as time draws on.

Personally, I like the slow, tense, forboding pacing over a lot of fast paced, things happen one after another after another type of storytelling, at least not until we've had some build up to that anyway.

That's just me and persoanl preference though.

I agree, and it depends how you view the first two books. I saw both Game of Thrones and Clash of Kings as all that storm-brewing, chess pieces moving into place setup for an extended series of climaxes that characterize Storm of Swords.

What order do the books go in? I'm considering reading them.

I'm sad to see only 2 episodes left. It almost seems like it just started yesterday. I'm glad they don't milk the show and keep the integrity but it also makes me sad because I'm wanting more.

I'm in book 4 right now and really not liking it. So, I guess it's good book 3 will be another season for the show. I'm not in a hurry to see book 4. I fear that's when it will lose TV ratings.

^ Feast for crows is so boring. Dance with Dragons is better.

They're apparently mixing in AFFC and ADWD into two different series because they're concurrent.

It's getting increasingly hard to read this thread. I've read the first 3 books, and am on the 4th, and it seems like every other post is something I don't know about yet.

Please keep the spoilers down, and limit the discussion to what's happening on the show or what's happened by this point in the books. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would appreciate it.

Agreed for the sake of those who haven't read all of the books.

However there is a spoiler in every man, and it stirs when you put a keyboard in his hands.

How's it going for you, btw?

Slowly, considering I got the collection last summer. The first two books was a struggle to read through, mostly b/c I already new the main plot(s) of the story and A Clash of Kings had me shake my head over how different the show was from the book. This season I have been reading A Storm of Swords at the same time just for lolz.

Think I'm gonna follow your guys advice and just read the upcoming events in the book. I'm to pumped up over what's gonna happen, and I've found the experiences in the books much more enjoyable than in the show.

Thats what we try to tell people who haven't read the books but some are just way too bloody adamant on not wanting to read them.

If people are not interested in further understanding the nuance of GRRM work, their loss.

I will say though that many people did not enjoy Books 4 and 5, so you might want to see what the show does with those before continuing after Storm of Swords.

It's known that Martin has already given the basic structure for WoW and ADoS to the producers. It will be interesting to see how they handle GOT's plot without Martin's work.

I can already see people complaining that GRRM did it wrong, were the show to finish before the books does.
