Now I can't wait to see Daenerys and Vyseris. What can I say? I'm a Targaryen fan :innocent:

Dannaerys and Vysaris looked quite different than the way I imagined them. I must have completely missed some descriptive line indicating they were albinos.

However, I actually pictured Peter Dinklage in my head as Tyrion, long before I knew anything of the HBO series. And yes, Sean Bean and the actress playing Arya seem perfect. From the behind the scenes footage and interviews, it looks like it is shaping up to be on a par with some of the best programs on television, such as Sopranos and Mad Men.

They were indeed described as albinos in the novels.

I had the impression Jon was blond though and pretty much 100% sure Robb was supposed to be ginger.

Bran, Arya and Sansa look exactly as I pictured them though.

Anyway, I just watched a handful of trailers and the episode preview - WOW it looks SO good! Hype mode activated.

BTW have you seen Damon Lindelof's response to George R.R. Martin's attack on the Lost ending?
His twitter page is hilarious

Two final thoughts, George. A. They weren't dead the whole time. B. 1997 called. It wants its web design back. http://bit.ly/16mtFZ

I've just been informed George is working on his feud response. I'll have it in FIVE YEARS! #NOYOUDINT

Well... Hollywood is still making it. It's a TV show, after all.

Wait, but Game of Thrones is being filmed in Europe and apparently parts of Africa, so it can't be American cinema, can it? Eh, I must not get the definition of Hollywood.

I would call it American television (produced by HBO), rather than cinema.

It's on HBO so i'm sure it will be a glorified soft core porno at best.

It doesn't matter WHERE it's produced. It matters WHO is producing it.

Sorry, I'm confused. I read this interview with GRRM yesterday and he talks about how he didn't want Hollywood's hands on his work, so to speak.

It's certainly a very "hollywood" production - I think GRRM was saying that he was worried about bad adaptations but in this case he felt the producers had the right take on his material (and probably paid him a crap-ton of money, which I'm sure didn't hurt).

Only thing I disliked was the Others. Aren't they creatures of another race? From that preview, it seems they're a bunch of crazed hillbillies out of Deliverance.

Maybe you're mixing up the Others with the wraiths?  Those killed by the Others become wraiths.  Hence the creepy little girl coming back to life with blue eyes.

I thought the Others were well done.  You don't see much, just the blue eyes, death, blood and terror- exactly as it should be.

The squee, it is EPIC!  Winter is coming!

Jon, blond?!  No way.  I had the impression all the Stark kids were brunette except Sansa.  This is also how I've seen them in the fanart, so I can't be crazy.

The TV Bran and Arya are so adorable.  Arya and her dad together are going to make me cry sobby tears, I just know it.

The Targaryens aren't albinos- they have silver hair and purple eyes.  I thought they did a fantastic job with Viserys.  Dany is not as waifish as I had pictured her, but Clarke is so good in the scenes that I've seen already that I think she'll do well in the role.

GRRM was so right about Lost, but shouldn't be so worried- if he wrote the final book while ****** drunk he'd come up with something more coherent than that mess ended up being.

Only if he can get to the end. I know that you can't rush perfection or anything, but the time he takes to finish each book is ridiculous.

No, it isn't. GRRM has seven books planned. After "A Dance with Dragons" will come " The Winds of Winter" and finally "A Dream of Spring."

Doh!  You're right.  I do hope the final two come around more quickly than the 5th did.

He was still right about Lost.

To Silver and Addai,

In the novels the Stark children are all described as having Catelyn's auburn hair with the exception of Arya and Jon who have Eddard's straw brown hair.  Not sure why all the art for it show Eddard as having black hair.

I always thought that Sandor was supposed to be burnt in the face even more.

Posted Image

And looking at his brother Gregor(and numerous other characters), it seems like they still haven't invented shaving in Westeros, the HBO version.

They obviously toned down the uglyness for the tv show. Tyrion is also hardly deformed, save for being so small.

And I wasn't awaret he 5th book was coming so soon! Awesome.

To be fair, I don't think Tyrion was actually ugly even when he was described as such. I think his supposed ugliness is exaggerated and that it's only the way Tyrion looks at himself. It's probably because much of the people in Westeros look down on Dwarvinism. I hope they do something about the Hound's look in the second season.

Also, 25 minutes of the Making of Game of Thrones.

Hollywood encompasses anything produced in or by the Hollywood region. Location is just that. Location. If location dictated what was Hollywood or not, then 90% of film and TV would not be Hollywood.

Awesome.

I just love how they've nailed the sense of scale of The Wall.
