[massive spoilers]

We might want to try to keep the spoilers for non-readers out of this thread.

Good luck with that.  I think we already know a lot of people on here don't give a damn about other people hearing something they shouldn't.  I mean, the freaking title of this thread is HBO's Game of Thrones, not G.R.RM.'s a Song of Ice and Fire, and still they can't help themselves but to talk about spoilers, and they don't even have the decency to forewarn readers.

:innocent:

Yet it doesn't say "no spoilers allowed." Still, when I was watching the show before reading the books I would not touch ANYTHING GOT related with a 50foot pole. I advice anyone here to do the same.

You want to dicuss it without the risk of spoilers? Talk to friends. Seriously, in the net, you're bound to find spoilers, espcially from something as big as GOT.

Youtube comments/tumbrl/facebook, EVERYTHING. You'll have a year to wait, but trust me there are still a few surprises for this season left, and some more for the next books. The Red Wedding is just the most 'shocking' I suppose, that's why we all blab on about it.

People in this thread are pretty intent on posting spoilers, even after being addressed directly and told not to. Some of them are being blatant, but even a lot of the others are trying to be clever, and are alluding to things that any intelligent person could put together as a spoiler.

I was in a chatroom yesterday on Spill.com for a show called SPOILED! It was about the show and the weekends movies. Some guy shows up in the chatroom, and posts several spoilers from the book, despite being asked not to...just because he felt like being an ass. I think we managed to cover up a lot of it by posting several fake spoilers as well, but a lot of people just want to be ****s, and some just want to be clever. I'd suggest starting a thread for the books, but I'm not entirely sure that would help.

In related news, I got in trouble for saying that a character was still alive in the 4th book. ASOIAF, the only series I can think of where you can get in trouble for that.

The wolves will come again.

Of course.  Don't let the preening of the Lannisters fool you.  You can accomplish a lot when you have zero human feeling, zero respect for the traditions that bind a people (it's probably not apparent to TV viewers, but the bread and salt at the beginning was supposed to be the end of any possibility of what ended up happening), no fear of gods or man, no regard even for your own offspring, nothing but blind greed for power.  The Starks fall because they continue to assume the snakes around them are actual human beings.

Indeed.

People's views are being skewed because the Machiavellian type characters are constantly being shown winning, telling people off, and gaining power. It's not an honest portrayal of reality, or even the full story of ASOIF.

I sit back and wonder as I watch the dark side of man's ego. People on the internet (yes, mostly basement dwellers on the Internet) say, "oh yes, this is intelligence, look how they get what they want, they must be smart because they are WINNING. Winning justifies everything."

Inversely, because the Starks appear to lose, people conclude that they are therefore unintelligient and that their whole way of life is foolish. The Starks have a moral code that has enabled them to rule effectively since the days of the first men. As the oldest house in Westeros, obviously they are doing something right.

In the end, the Machivelian characters will get what's coming to them, and I'll be able to sit back and watch their undoing. Which frankly, I can already do as of ADWD for all of the Lannisters.

Or it could have something to do with my liar erm.. I mean legal training.

I have NO FREAKING IDEA why that was changed. Even from my liberal attitude towards mediums being translated, I simply cannot fathom the stupidity of the person who said "hurr durr, Casterly Rock." It wasn't heroic, brave or even "cool." What WOULD'VE been awesome is if they made Robb's plan exactly like how it was in the books. And have that one tragic line to Roose Bolton.

"We're going home."

I expect because an attack on Casterly Rock sounded like an exciting season final. An appropriate "final battle" between the Starks and the Lannisters.
The Ironborn just don't have the same presence of the Lannisters (I expect many fans have forgotten who Balon Greyjoy is) and, in the series, the only ones we see in the North were at Winterfell which we know has already been burnt to the ground so, if Robb had been focusing on expelling the Ironborn from the North, a number of the show's fans would have likely went "Meh, who cares?"

There already is such a thread, and every so often in here I post about it, but I'm sick of doing so and sounding like a broken record.

Yet it doesn't say "no spoilers allowed."

That's because the thread started before the series had even aired.

I'm with you on that.  When it comes to Starks:  I love Arya and Jon (he's a Stark in my mind), liked Eddard, don't care either way about Rickon, Robb and Sansa, find Bran a little annoying at times, and disliked Catelyn.  It's the same kind of deal with the Lannisters.  Which makes it very difficult to root for one family, because their ultimate success will most likely lead to the ruin of other characters you love.

True.  I gave up 30 pages ago trying to police this thread.  I've read the books, so it only bothers me in that people aren't considering those who haven't.  It literally takes 3 seconds to say that your post may contain spoilers, so I'm not sure what gives.

Does anybody know if they will release the version of rains of castamere that the band was playing in the hall to signal the attack? I really like that one but can't find it anywhere.

By rooting for the Starks, I mean I just want them (or what's left of them) to be together in the end.

I have favorite characters as well that I root for individually. Jaime and Catelyn are GRRM's most complex and well-written characters so they are my favorites, naturally. Besides those two, I really like Arya, Stannis and Davos.
