I never expected for the show to allow that scene to go through. I love Sophie as an actor, I don't think many girls her age would have said yes to that.

I preferred how it was done in the books myself, she didn't want that kiss, she tried to fight him off which is only natural.

You can, yeah. The idea is that the Father will judge fairly and allow the right outcome. But you are effectively facing against the Kingsguard or someone very good. Unless you know you will be winning (like Tyrion in Game of Thrones/S1), it would be taking a huge risk and putting your life in someone else's hands. But for lots of people who knew they were framed, like Brandon Stark, trial by combat is the only choice.

I guess Gregor is never guilty of anything then. He could chop off the judges heads and then proclaim "I didn't do it!"

That is why no one ever accused him of anything I guess.

That being said, I don't think he's a better knight than Barristan or Jaime. Bronn has a chance over him as well.

I imagine there would be 1000 out-takes for that scene xD the bloopers would be hilarious.

I don't think Westeros is unknown the house of Saville xD

Khal Drogo was in his thirties when he screwed around with 13 year old Dany xD

I kind of wonder what they are going to do with Brienne and Podrick. I guess they can still go to Maidenpool, but the Whispers storyline is kind of borked without Brave Companions and she obviously can't fight Rorge and Biter. I wonder if they'll skip all that and end this season somewhat in line with her last chapter in a Feast for Crows.

Bummed with the lack of Randyl Tarly though (combined with how buffoonish they've made his liege lord). I suppose they might just see him as Tywin-lite.

I hope season 5 cast's gonna surprise me-- in a good way. Keeping in mind there's the second British Invasion in movie&TV fantasy now, I'll keep my fingers crossed for Alfred Molina as Doran and Hugh Laurie as Crow's Eye :)

Alfred Molina as Doran is an inspired idea, but personally I'd love to see Jimmy Nail as Euron, let's go from rugged handsome to ruggedly rugged.

She was 17 at the time, I don't see why it would have been an issue.

What gets me is that she seems somewhat willing when he initiates the kiss. There's no pulling away or anything and the kiss is locked in for a while before she pulls out of it. Plus, there was the fact that he was saying she could have been his daughter seconds before too.

It's about her consent. I'm impressed that she went with it. So clearly she takes her job seriously. Many 17 year old girls are kind of... well, like most kids are at 17. So yeah, kudos on Sophie.

Can anyone just demand a "trial by combat" for anything at any time? Seems to make it a little too easy to get away with things when you don't even have to fight yourself.

It's basically a "Get Gregor out of jail for free" card.

Seriously, he can just do anything and demand a trial by combat.

Even when there is enough proof that the accused really is guilty?

Probably. The evidence against Tyrion is pretty damning, even tough we know he is innocent. Shae even testified that he told her he was going to kill the king.

Yep. Put it this way, imagine if someone was about to be put on Death Row for murdering an orphanage or something like that, and literally EVERYONE saw them do it. In Westeros, Gods are held in high regard by many, so the idea would be that the guilty party would call for a Trial by Combat, and if the Gods really wanted the person punished, they'd have them killed. If not, then the murderer goes free as its clearly not the Gods' will to have them punished for their crime.

So yes.
