I heard that the finale is going to be a little longer to make up for all this cut time. But yeah, it's irritating that the episodes this season are so short.

I don't blame her for Ned's death. It was a culmination of lots of things iirc and ultimately Joffrey was the only one who made it inevitable. I just mean she's really really unlikeable (ie. being needlessly cruel to Tyrion while he's being utterly selfless for her).
She also had almost no experience with Tyrion. On the other hand everyone else she knows related to him has tortured her for a few years and made her life horrible. She is not aware of everything we know about him as readers/viewers know only what she has been told to her and that has all been filtered to make him look like something worse then the family.
As far as this weeks episode I liked it. I know where the sfx budget went this season.

Basically it was Season 4's Blackwater.

Yeah, if I have to see another promo for that TERRIBLE looking show "The Leftovers" instead of actual show content, I'm going to be very upset. That show just looks bad... so bad.

There is little that can match the greatness of that scene. Unless they boke everything and had Tyrion single handed takes out a giant.

Needed more time with Ghost killing people, more flaming barrels, maybe Mance Rayder giving his own speech to the wildlings, etc.

Snow is a BAMF. Nuff said.
The battle was awesome.

Episode 10 is 66 minutes so that's good. Considering there are a boat load of plot threads they need to wrap up this year. Episode 10 should be crazy.

I was a big fan of the Ghost appearance.
Although my memory may be fuzzy - but what was the point of Mance setting that huge fire? Just to intimidate the Watch?

Man what an episode. Maybe the best yet. Swept me up and it was over in a flash. This is why I watch this show, it finally delivered.

That's what I was hoping for.
I can accept no Stannis this episode IF it means that they get an extra ~15-20 minutes for the finale, to give proper time to the Jon/Mance reunion, Stannis' arrival, and Lady Stoneheart.
I also liked the giant chain and how they made a point to show that the wildlings had no real way of touching the Watch on top of the wall.
Alas, poor Grenn and Pyp. At least Edd is still alive.
I was a big fan of the Ghost appearance.

It was a signal to the Tormund/Styr/Ygritte group to begin their attack.
I do wish they'd remembered that the Night's Watch castles have no walls or gates on their southward side, but that's been borked since Season 1 so they made the most of it here.
Speaking of Ygritte, I do think they did a great job with that. No-Parents killing him was something we all say coming, but Kit and Rose totally sold it.

Such a good episode. Was hooked all the way through. 50 minutes is still a good run time and it didn't feel like any moment was wasted.
Sad that both Grenn and Pip died but we needed some impactful NW character deaths. Grenn pretty much takes Donal Noye's part in taking down that giant.

In memory of Pyp let us recall the crime that got him sent to the Night's Watch.

Grenn Giantsbane.
But despite several great scenes (Alliser Thorne's "Nock and Draw" speech, as well as the later one), and Grenn and the others reciting their vows as the giant charges, I found the episode disappointing.
