R+L=J is so good that GRRM will deny us this just to spite the long time Ice and Fire fans
Nah.
Jon's is the song of ice ( Lianna/Stark ) and fire ( Targaryen/Dragon/Rhaegar ).
I just wonder why it took me so much time to realise it.

The battle was epic. Giants, mammoths, flying corpses... what's not to like?
That was... the best episode yet.
No, I'm serious. I love the politcking of ASOIF and the show never truly managed to make it come to life but that battle was as close to perfect as you can get. The special effects, the coreography, the way they switched between important players, the way each character had an arc within the episode; Grenn's in particular was amazing, I was saying the words with them; perfect. This episode even made me like Aliser Thorne. Dude has balls.
My only real grips are: too few giants, I wish Tormund had escaped (now I don't know how they'll fill the role he plays in the future but at least they didn't kill him) and I wish he had been more sporting about the loss like he was in the book.
All in all, that was perfect 10!
And now their watch is ended.
And Westeros will be lost next episode.
Poor Pyp and Grenn.
On the other hand we all know now that you shouldn't **** with Castle Black's kitchen staff! Three Finger Hobb for Lord Commander!

THIS!
Just...this scene. BADASS!
I couldn't help but be reminded of Skyrim in the last ep with the mammoth, giants and wildlings that reminded me of the Skaal. ![]()
And the battle was better than the blackwater one that was underwhelming due to it failing to live up to the scale it was built up to be.
Well the battle's not over yet

This show finds new ways to break my heart each week. What an episode!

Yes, but The War of the Wall didn't have Tyrion. It loses a TON of cool points accordingly.
Next episode will be the most tragic ever. The greatest man who was ever born in Westeros will be ignobly murdered for a crime he did not deserve to die for.

Heh.
Some men die squatting over their chamberpots.
I wonder if Alliser Thorne is going to die from that wound so that Jon can become Lord Commander; which Thorne isn't, I know, I read the books.
Just when I'm starting to respect the man.
Of course, if they wanted him to die, no reason to not just kill him in the battle.
The way he rolled off the deck was badarse. It was interesting to try and figure out just how machiavellian he really was. As it turns out, not very- hoping the mutineers kill Jon and friends excepted. Which is good because he would be first real or fictional person named Alistair I didn't like otherwise.
I have a feeling George really likes Jon, because he's been overconfident from start to finish and getting away with it from start to finish. He's starting to feel like a less obnoxious Tallis. I mean he's a virgin who's amazing in bed. Yeah, I think he would have survived the Red Wedding.
Is it realistic for that little boy with the little bow to penetrate Ygritte all the way through wearing what thick clothes she was?
Alliser Thorne has a reason to hate Jon Snow: his House fought on the Targaryen's side in Robert's Rebellion against House Stark, which led to the downfall of his House and him being forced to join the Night's Watch. That is why he kept calling Jon Snow as the "traitor's bastard". The hatred is personal.
Ygritte's death would have been way more poignant if she was shot by Sam with a crossbow instead of the boy. Then Sam can apologize and talk to Jon about it later. It's a missed opportunity for a good scene.
Anyway, now that Ygritte is dead and out the way, let's bring on the wildling princess Val, who should be way hotter than Ygritte. Yvonne Strahovski or Tabrett Bethell should play Val. Let's keep fingers crossed.

Like hell he didn´t after what he did to that poor girl. And all he had to do to survive was not saying the "w" word. Long time deserved karma.

Its in the scene. Its veeery subtle. I shoot arrows so I know that if you begin to lose the full draw on your bow, you should just let it come to rest and then draw again. She was hesitating, and thus began to let it come to rest, before SHOT THROUGH THE HEART, AND YOU'RE TOO LATE
I'm just rewatching the scene and I can't see it at all, her hands were still shaking as the arrow pierced her. At the same time it's weird that the arrow didn't fly off then. MAYBE SHE LOVES HIM SO MUCH THAT SHE USED HER LAST OUNCE OF STRENGTH TO HOLD IT BACK. or maybe that's just the romantic in me wishful thinking.
Also, the smug pose the boy pulls after is so ridiculous it keeps making me nearly laugh.
Well, that didn't take too long...
Lol They really want a happy ending for Oberyn.

Well I watched episode 9. That episode sh*ts on the Zulu film. God that was awesome. I know what's going to happen, but I was still on the edge of my seat.
