Game of Thrones, I don't think, gets enough mention for it's musical compositions. It's no Sam Hulick and Sascha Dikiciyan/Cris Velasco, but, man, is it some gripping stuff IMO.
Yup, I'll have to be Captain Obvious and go with the Children ending theme.

Did Brienne really bite off the Hound's ear? Is she related to Mike Tyson or something?
Clementine: Still. Not. Bitten.
The Hound: SHOW ME THE WAY, MASTER.
Next week in The Walking Dead.

The lack of Lady Stoneheart was rather disappointing. The finale wasn't bad but it was rather underwhelming. Stannis' attack on the wildling army didn't seem like much of a battle, especially after the entire episode they devoted to the assault on the wall itself.

I don't think it was much of a battle in the books either, though. Jon just sees heavily armored knights on horseback and realizes that they have to be from the South, and the "STANNIS! STANNIS! STANNIS!" shouts clear that up quickly. And pretty much exactly like he thought the Watch could have, they just tear into the Wildling camp and roll over them without much fight.
Also Tyrion didn't ask where do whores go and that makes me oddly upset. As does the lack of Stoneheart, but I'm still desperately hoping that's the Season 5 cold open. Then again, she might just become the new Coldhands.

It wasn't much of a battle in the books, either. Stannis isn't generally an "all or nothing" general- he calculates. Tyrion, and Tyrion alone- kept Stannis out of the city, while Melisandre's Smoke Monster from Lost letting the Tyrell/ Lannister attack happen crushed them before they could batter through the gates.

True it wasn't much of a battle in the books, but I got that impression there was some combat (an attempt by Mance to rally his forces and hold) before they were routed. I was also hoping to see a giant test how far a knight can fly.
Without Jaime's "confession" about Tysha it seems a bit odd how Tyrion just decides to go looking for his father. I suppose they wanted Shae to be the factor which sent him over the edge, but that final meeting with Tywin left something to be desired in my opinion.

Definitely.
I thought the Thenns' theme was another huge musical highlight from this season - sort've replaced the White Walkers 'ominous' theme from Season 2.

"Oathkeeper" was excellent as well.

This.
Overall, I thought it was a good finale. Not satisfying on the whole, but good.
The whole segment with Tyrion escaping/meeting with Tywi felt oddly paced to me. Someone breaks him out of prison and then just let's him wander around the castle? There are no guards protecting the Hand of the King, the de facto leader of the Seven Kingdoms, such that someone released from the dungeons could just stroll right into his bedroom? It seemed very odd. Maybe the books handled it differently, but I felt like it was some type of surreal bad dream the entire time.

Wait wait wait, Jaimes confession was cut!? WTF! Then why the bloody hell did Tyrion go to meet his dad on the bowl!?

Hm, I'm still processing the episode, but I'm afraid I don't like it all that much. There was a lot of good stuff in it, but I wasn't happy with more things than I'd have expected. All in all I'd say they should never have devoted a whole episode to Castle Black with that much stuff open for the last episode.

Definitely agreed.
Going searching for Tywin was a stupid move on Tyrion's part as far as a survival perspective is concerned. In the book, that doesn't matter because of how how filled with rage Tyrion is at that point. Seeing Shae on the bed was just oil onto an already blazing inferno.
There was no compelling reason in the show for why Tyrion would risk going to search for his father. I suppose he could want answers for how his father could sentence him to death except for the part where you know, Tyrion's death sentence is only ensured because of his own actions in demanding a trial by combat.

There was also more room in the books for Tyrion to doubt killing Shae was justified-it was more self defense on the show than crime of passion, it seemed like.

Brienne is one of the best warriors in the Kingdom's, though- why do you say she wouldn't have been able to fight the Hound and win?

Cliff notes about finale.
->Arya is the most interesting person for me.
->I like the presentation of Jon Snow's maturity and development through the show. Although he was a bit boring in the earlier seasons.
->Tywin died without taking any **** from anyone. I had to add that one for the pun

Curiosity? He also didn't tell Jamie that he killed Joffrey like he does in the books, either- they had a typical Jamie/ Tyrion broment then Tyrion went off killing folks.

He was told by his daughter than all his grand kids were inbred, that the rumors were true.
The son he never wanted shot him to death, and his legacy will forever be dieing on the toilet.

Spoiler
I don't know- she could take down Loras, who most seem to agree is one of the best Knights. He usually wins in any competition he's in; now, Brienne would have had a clean victory, but the Hound fights dirty, and Brienne has now proven that she can too. I think the Hound was ready to die.
