So you DIDN'T like Tyrion in the novels?
Tyrion is okay at first. Unlike Jon and Arya, he doesn't start grabbing me until "A Clash of Kings". Tyrion in the books comes off as sly and almost glib; while Tyrion on the show is snarkier and charming. I thought he was a bit annoying the first time I read "A Game of Thrones".

[As someone who has read the books]In no particular order characters I love: [spoilers naturally]
~ Jaime - Ever since his first proper scene in A Clash of Kings I have adored him.
Stuck up, arrogant and flawed - everything I like in a character.
I was however a little dissapointed with GRRM's 'redeeming' of his character but overall he's still likable enough for me.
~ Arya - DAAAAWWWWW
~ Tyrion - I must say it does shock me when someone says they don't like Tyrion as I've always figured he was written in such a way that you couldn't hate him. I swear he's the only 'nice' guy (who isn't an idiot) in all of Westeros.
~ Cercei - She's arrogant, she's practical, she's machiavellian and by god is she flawed.
Yes she's a b*tch but she's presented as such in such a realistic manner (which I always love in a "antagonist")
I know most 'love to hate her' but I can't help but just love her.
Sandor Clegane (aka The Hound) - Honestly, to me, he's one of the most well developed characters.
Characters I hate:
~ Daenerys Targaryen - I cannot possibly describe how much I actually hate this character.
She's too much of a textbook Mary Sue TO THE EXTREME and to me her character just doesn't flow with the rest of the series.
If GRRM ever has her killed off I swear I will literally cry tears of joy.

I hear people talk about Dany being a Mary Sue and I just don't see it. She is born to rule- it's in her blood- and yet she makes many mistakes. As I said, I didn't like her parts until later books, but man oh man, how could you not like some of the that stuff... don't want to go into detail as we're getting quite spoilery for folks just watching the TV series.

Oh man, I loved that moment between Ned and Arya. I'm getting verklemmt now.

Hubby (non-reader) was a bit surprised by that scene. His comment "His mother put him up to that, didn't she?" I about bit my tongue off to not say anything spoiler-y!

I believe Sansa will have a huge role to play in A Dance with Dragons and will likely reach some kind of point of redemption in her character arc.
I think not, personally. Or should I say, I hope not.
She's had her opportunities for this kind of turnaround, and hasn't shown signs of doing so before. I'll be somewhat disappointed if she goes the redeemer route.
I should note, I don't think she's evil, or even bad. As I said, simply spoiled and naive. I can't like her, but I don't hate her. I just have great fear of her ever being in a position of power or authority.

There really is no need for redemption in her character arc because so far she was mostly the victim. And what would the fun be in redemption? We already have Jaime and Sandor going through a redemption arc(if you believe the grave-digger theory). Sansa, I believe, will(or may) turn into a Machiavellian similar to Littlefinger. Or at least pick up some politicking techniques.
Also, I think I heard some where on the ASOIAF forum that Sansa won't be in A Dance with Dragons.

Thank you for not spoiling, Addai. I must say, though, those Twitterers must be morons not to see that he was just telling her what she wanted to hear.
So, I'll just be over here, reading, waiting for the other shoe to drop.

It won't because her voice was in FfC and GRR split up the voices between FfC and DwD.

This is imparting modern sensibilities too much onto Sansa. She's doing a good job of the 'teenage wangst' but the fact is, she's been raised to be a lady. In the books, she's just that. Her rudeness to the Septa seems to counteract all that. It's beyond rudeness, it's just spiteful. She hasn't been raised with the freedoms that girls today have been. Underneath everything, the Starks understand duty and that's at the core.Catspaw wrote...
As a parent of teenagers, Sansa is spot on as a teenage girl. No one can be as petulant and snarky as a 15 year old girl. Her behavior works for a 13 year old too. People don't like her because she is being normal for her age. She is suddenly completely ignored by her parents (life at Winterfell was completely different and I think she got attention from her mother at least) now that she is in King's Landing. Remember that her mother isn't there and her father only talks to her in terms of when she marries and gives birth to boys. The only person who pays attention to her is her Septa/governess so that is the only person she can lash out against. She does buy into the fairy tale - she has been raised outside of the mainstream society and so imagines life in the capital to be very different from the reality. Again, just like a teenage girl.

Still, I don't mind her performance but it just seems like they're intent on making her as unlikeable as possible.
I kinda miss the wistful and dreamy Sansa of the books, lol.
On a side note, I'm getting for exciting for what is to come. Though, pretty sad too. It's gonna be emotionally draining.

Personally, I thought that was out of character completely. Sansa is supposed to think that courtesy is a lady's armor, and then goes all spoiled brat on Septa, asking the poor woman if she still has hair and all that? Just doesn't sit well with the book character, imo.

Edit again: Apparently this is just a rumor and she's not been cast. lol Oh well. I was starting to wonder if part of their deal with the Northern Irish government was casting a certain number of Irish actors. There was talk they wouldn't get the Paint Hall in Belfast for season 2, which would make it really difficult to shoot the keep scenes.
