I find it more likely that the director/producers felt it worked well.. for some reason

The Hound vs Brienne has to be the most disappointing fight of the show.
Not necessarily because it's Brienne, but because they didn't emphasize just how wounded Sandor was. His neck should've been festering and he should've been at a disadvantage.
Instead, you get a massive GIRL POWER fanservice, with Brienne manhandling Sandor despite him being not only more skilled but also stronger than her.
Now people got into their heads that Brienne is a better fighter.
Sometimes I really hate this show.

Was this posted? Its the season finale director's comment on no LSH:
It was an epic troll by Lena Headey posting this before the finale:

But really it makes sense that, if they're going to do it, you get Fairley on board next season and work from there. They were already at 66 minutes for the finale, and now you'd have a shocker at the beginning of next season to get the buzz rolling again. If they do it.
I'd imagine it's the same deal with the Ironborn. It makes more sense for a show that needs to pay its actors (and for which some actors are doing roles outside of GoT) to get a new storyline rolling at the beginning of a season rather than in the middle or towards the end of one.

Oh, please.
"Loras: Draw your sword, woman!
Jaime: Best hope she doesn't. Or it's like to be your corpse we carry out. The wench is as strong as Gregor Clegane, though not so pretty."
From the books. There's nothing out of place about her winning that duel.

Hyperbole meant to intimidate, unless you'd also canonise that Jaime would rather date Gregor than Brienne.
She is nowhere near Gregor and if you truly think that you haven't been paying attention.
Brienne is well over six feet tall, but not close to seven, no. Just off the top of my head, I would say Brienne is taller than Renly and Jaime and significantly heavier than either, but nowhere near the size of Gregor Clegane, who is the true giant in the series. Shorter than Hodor and the Greatjon, maybe a bit shorter than the Hound, maybe roughly the same height as Robert.

I guess Oberyn is a sh!tty fighter too since he was not as tall as Gregor.

All I know is. a whole lot of people are assuming Brienne isn't a good fighter and are getting upset because a girl beat a guy. On the show, no matter what you say, Brienne curbstomped the Hound. It's canon now. Live with it, even if that means crying yourselves to sleep.

And where in the books does The Hound's strength get hyperbolized?
What evidence do you have that The Hound would definitely beat Brienne in a fight in the books?

You have to think like this.
Loras is like just as good as a young Jaime with two hands but he lost to Brienne. And Brienne beat a weak Jaime. Now that might have to do with better armor like what Sandor said in that one episode this season. But the very next episode we see Ramsay is a great fighter without a shirt on.
So this goes into my main point, Ramsay has a dog that can take 5 or so Ironborn out.

Bigger people have bigger muscle and bigger strength. I see it at the gym all the time.

It does, when you are made up of muscle like Gregor and Brienne are. Were Gregor to be a fattie, it would not.

The show is nowhere near canon, thanks.

He fought Gregor on equal footing in BOok 1.
Loras is like just as good as a young Jaime with two hands
Yeah, no.
Not happening. Ever.
Jaime is one of the best swordsmen alive. He named his possible rivals and none of them were Loras.
That's why some ppl are mad about the fight, because it was girl/guy. If it was Oberyn instead of Brienne
If Oberyn was a woman, I'd have no issue.
Oberyn is one of the most skilled fighters in the book, having a range repertoire of weapons and poisons at his disposal. The fact that he manages to beat the mountain proves it.
The issue is that Brienne beat the Hound when she is inferior in literally every way- skill, speed, strength.
It was nothing but fanservice.

Yes, but do all bigger people have more muscle mass than smaller people? Westeros doesn't have p90x or gyms (or steroids, for that matter); muscle wouldn't build in quite the same way. Yes, I'm 6 foot 3 and broad shouldered, so I'm stronger than many by virtue of size, unless that person works to build more muscle. Brienne has done that. Do I think that Sandor Clegane and Brienne of Tarth are equal in terms of strength? Yes, yet I also think a good portion of the fight was skill until the swords were lost, then rage and desperation, like a real fight.

Are you seriously trying to argue that The Mountain, the man that crushes skulls with his hands and wields a claymore in 1 hand is equaled in strength by Brienne, who is 30 cm shorter and is a woman? ( I know you hate the oh-so-ridiculous idea that men are stronger because biology, but it's there ).
Even if Brienne was AS TALL and heavy as the Mountain, he would still be stronger because of how male and female anatomy differs.

No, Brienne fought off a different group in the books- the jester that traveled with Hoat's men, and some lackeys.
Brienne is one of the best fighters. The only times she's lost in the books is when she's outnumbered or ambushed.

Brienne is one of the best fighters.
Barristan, Jaime, Sandor, Gregor, Greatjon, Syrio, Oberyn are all above her and that's just those that died recently.
If we're to dig up Rhaegar, prime Robert and many others, she's not even in the top 20.
I'm a dude; if you're insecure that a girl beat a guy, that's on you.
Ad Hominem. How cute.
I'm pissed that Brienne beating Sandor makes no sense and I'm not alone.
Disregarding valid criticism as mysoginy/insecurity only makes you look biased and juvenile.
