Jaime is awesome because he's played by none other than Nikolaj. It is funny to see how much he looks like his character from the movie Nightwatch, by the time of Season 4.

Oh, and his characterization from the books, plus the growth and complexity to his motives and worldviews are a plus too!

Nothing says development like a hard on for Brienne :D

Sorry, you know how silly I am anyway :P

I don't like Cersei. But I honestly don't view her as crazy.

Twisted and more than a little broken and sociopathic, maybe. But crazy? She seems a bit too cold to qualify in my book.

She definitely has some form of cognitive dissonance and some vanity issues.

I'm curious to see what new forms of fresh hell are going to be unleashed in King's Landing with Varys gone as the Spider. Lord only knows what forms of espionage and juggling he was doing in the background to keep the world running smoothly. Between him and Tywin, The Seven Kingdoms just lost their two of the capital's most effective problem solvers in one night.

Something I'm sure Littlefinger will exploit to his advantage.

And more than a few daddy issues, to say the least. But she's not breast feeding Tommen as a full grown boy, either.

That's what Marjorie is doing.

Cersei isn't crazy, she's just paranoid because of a prophecy she was told when she was younger.

Yes it is.

Brienne wouldn't be of a different weight class than the Hound. Brienne is supposed to be well over 6 feet tall and muscular. In any case size and weight are are not as meaningful when you're fighting with swords.

I think height would make a great difference due to reach. It doesn't so much in boxing because a short fighter can more effectively fight their opponent on the inside if they're good at getting there.

But Gwendoline Christie is massive, isn't she basically the same size as the bloke who plays Sandor? It maybe just bad choreography or just a bad performance on his part, but I also have never seen Sandor fighting really well.

Finally, Jon Snow is 5' 7" everyone

In boxing you have people fighting those of the same weight category. Duels are different.

That isn't a good comparison.

The Heavyweight category (which would include Brienne and The Hound) has a weight spread of 25 to 65 pounds, depending on the sport.

In MMA, for example, a 210-pound fighter could fight as a heavyweight against someone who weighs 265 pounds. That's a difference of 55 pounds. The smaller fighter could also be weaker than their opponent. They could also still win.

Allow me to demonstrate:

Royce Gracie vs Dan Severn

For the record, the weight difference between those two guys was a lot more than 55 pounds.

Claiming that "reputation" or "size" automatically determine the victor in a combat would suggest that you have very little or no knowledge of combat sports, a discipline in which size and strength has a far more significant direct impact than in a contest like fencing, which uses an intermediary tool (a sword) that acts as an equalizer in both regards. In all cases, there is no automatic victory for the larger or more reputable opponent.

Anyone with knowledge of combat sports or swordplay is well aware that variables in any contest can sway things one way or the other. They would therefore never assume it isn't possible for someone to win (especially when their lives actually depend on it.)

Excellent choice in match to explain weight's role in a fight by the way.

Long story short, the big guy doesn't always win. The smaller fighter can kick ass just as well.

Besides, both Sandor and Brienne are huge.

I'd also throw out terrain as a factor. Jaime is a swordsman and duelist - any evaluation he would have made would likely be in a more controlled environment than the full-on, clumsy brawl that the Hound-Brienne fight turned out to be. Brienne won by pushing the Hound off a cliff, after all, not by a masterful sword feint or fancy footwork.

Willingness to bite off the Hound's ear played a factor, too. ;)

Brienne has a power of 3, while the Hound has a power of 4 in the TCG, so your arguments are invalid! :wizard:

I'd add the famous duel between Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro of being an example of that. Musashi won not necessarily because he was the better swordsman. At the time they fought Kojiro was arguably the more accomplished of the two. You don't get a nickname like "Demon of the Western Provinces" for nothing. Musashi won however because he intentionally showed up late to the duel, an insult that enraged his opponent. He also added fuel to the fire by taunting Kojiro once he arrived. He did all of that purposefully to provoke Kojiro into a rage that would cause him to make a fatal mistake.

In fact a running theme with Musashi in most of his duels was that he usually defeated his opponents by clever strategies or psyching out his opponents, not necessarily because he had the best sword fighting technique in all of Japan. (though he was certainly very good)

His brain rather than his sword arm made him the best.

If  "Young Griff" marries Myrcella (Cersei's "daughter"), what is the percentage of their baby becoming like Aerys/Joffrey?

Toss of the coin. Westerosi seem particularly vulnerable to birth defects/ mental disorders due to incest.

The crazy might skip a generation or two but they might have a fetish for incest though.
