Well recall, that that fleet was not commissioned yet.

They did not owe the Tyrells a single drake yet due the wedding not having occurred and their loan from the Iron Bank wasn't quite as massive.

Basically what we were discussing if you recall was what if Robb and his men had not perished at the red wedding.

However note i never cited Cersei as brillaint, honestly about the only thing i found even slightly endearing in the character was her honest to goodness love for Jamie. She hid it, acted cruel, cold but ultimately even she admitted to herself, He was the only man she ever loved, still loved.

But as far as Rulers go?

Her Dad should have been King, he would have been even better then Stannis, but Stannis is the best Westeros has left to it...

I'll agree to that

I cannot wait for Aegon to get what is coming to him; that pretentious pretender of a King.

No, he really doesn't.

Besides why would the right hand of an insane despot matter over much to me?

Now if it was Gerold Hightower?

I might actually quirk a brow.

That dude was reputedly one hell of a bad ass.

It's one of the most mediocre tv series I've ever seen but that's my opinion.

I've always liked the 'Roose is an immortal vampire' theory as a part of the greater 'House Bolton were into skinchanger magic and that's why their sigil is the Flayed Man' theory.

It's ridiculous (though not as ridiculous as Tyrion the Targ theory), but I love it.

I would be shocked if #1 isn't true though, that one seems a foregone conclusion.

Aegon is the last male Targaryen right? What has he done to earn your ire? Isn't he being directed by that knight?

Stannis is a power hungry fool. Sacrificing his own men to a god he doesn't even believe in. What does Davos see in this guy? Melisandre has him hopelessly enthralled and she's actually the bigger fool because he isn't the messiah and she's wasting her time on him.

Quaithe is a bit of an enigma. There are some theories about who she is, but I'm not sure if they are on the mark. The "shadow" comments stem from her supposedly being a shadowbinder from Asshai, it's not proof of anything else. We have one other Asshai shadowbinder as an important character, Melisandre.

Quaithe is a powerful shadowbinder that has her eye on the messiah. My take anyway. Her and Melisandre both believe in the prophecy but only one of them is correct.

Uh, There isn't much to indicate he isn't the reincarnated Hero she was hoping for.

He fits all the omens.

Beyond that all the other contenders for the titles are even worse so...yeah i'm hoping its Stannis.

Beyond that Stannis is a competent military leader, a more or less fair ruler and believes in the absolution of unity.

He would be a good King.

Also, the whitewashing of Dany (and Tyrion for that matter) while demonising Stannis was one thing I didn't like about the show. Stannis not burning unbelievers was supposed to be a reoccurring theme with him. Whereas it's a major part of his show character.

"Half my army is made up of unbelievers. I will have no burnings. Pray harder."

The only time he sanctions a live burning of his men to my mind was Alester Florent and that was for trying to sell Shireen to the Lannisters. Not for unbelieving.

The showrunners don't like The King Who Still Cared, for some reason.  :(

He also burns them when his men start resorting to cannibalism during the march to Winterfell.

I like Stannis the most out of all the other potential monarchs for Westeros. He's got the right attitude to clean up that cesspool of a capital. The show seems to go out of it's way to showcase just how horrible of a person he is, when in the books he's actually a pretty sensible guy. His theme track also sounds utterly villainous.

George RR Martin has stated in the past that someone unexpected would sit on the throne at the end of the series, I'm hoping he's referring to Shireen.

You do realize that could have been the fact the North was about to turn into Stannis's greatest challenge right?

It's Dany dood. It's been awhile since i've read the books but she's hitting the signs harder than Stannis from what I can remember.

I remember Stannis burning people but you may be right in that they were bad guys anyway. I don't like the guy though. Davos saves his *** and in return Stannis cripples him. He also had Renly killed even though Renly would have been a better king. So you're supposed to be next in line so what? Nobody likes you and the throne is not worth killing your brother over.

If I was a peasant in Westeros I would gladly give up a few finger joints to become a noble. The price wasn't that bad and Davos probably could have refused it. People like Stannis because he doesn't look past bad deeds, even though Davos helped him he wasn't willing to let him completely off the hook for being a criminal.

Renly was a twenty year old pompous fool whose never commanded an army, how exactly would he be a better king than Stannis? A more popular one, sure, but being popular doesn't make someone a good ruler. Tywin is the perfect example of someone that would make a good king.

If the gods were kind, he would live a dutiful, peaceful life being Lord of Storm's End under Robert, raising Shireen as his heir and gritting his teeth at small council meetings when no one agrees to his 'shut down all brothels' proposals.

But they aren't, and Stannis has a duty to fulfill. It's not about desire, or power. It's duty. That's the key to understanding Stannis. He is cold, he is ruthless, but above all he is just and dutiful.
