You do realize that could have been the fact the North was about to turn into Stannis's greatest challenge right?

The fact that Snow is capitalized says a whole lot.

Kinda like it's a name or something.

Going back to the show for a minute, after all this time I still don't get why Arienne wasn't casted. Dorne and King's Landing will probably feature heavily this season. We got the Sand Snakes, Doran and the High Septon/Sparrow casted but not characters like Manderly (God I love Lord Too-Fat), Dustin and other Northerners, or Yezzan, Griffs Snr & Jnr, and others in Essos. So that explains the focus in plot, but Arienne is pivotal to the entire thing. Why take her out, and change Dornish succession laws to male inheritance over female instead of eldest child?

"Hey guys, we are going to feature Dorne next season and bring in all the Dornish characters. Except the most important one, and remove a cornerstone of the Dornish plot while we're at it. Lel."

If I was a peasant in Westeros I would gladly give up a few finger joints to become a noble. The price wasn't that bad and Davos probably could have refused it. People like Stannis because he doesn't look past bad deeds, even though Davos helped him he wasn't willing to let him completely off the hook for being a criminal.

Renly was a twenty year old pompous fool whose never commanded an army, how exactly would he be a better king than Stannis? A more popular one, sure, but being popular doesn't make someone a good ruler. Tywin is the perfect example of someone that would make a good king.

I wouldn't. Being a noble in Westeros isn't all that great. Rich or poor conflict and death is everywhere. I'd rather stay in fighting shape as long as I can.

I say give Renly a chance. We don't know exactly how he would have turned out. He could have been a great king for all we know. The people had to have reasons for liking him.

Maybe Tywin would have made a good king as well. I'm skeptical though because he shouldn't have pinned all his hopes for inheritance on Jaime knowing full well that the man is in love with his own sister. Something the populace wouldn't accept unless it came from the Targs. Tywin should have simply had more kids. Problem solved. Yet he didn't. Not a smart move for a supposedly smart man. Still I think he'd make a better king than Stannis.

Spoiler

If the gods were kind, he would live a dutiful, peaceful life being Lord of Storm's End under Robert, raising Shireen as his heir and gritting his teeth at small council meetings when no one agrees to his 'shut down all brothels' proposals.

But they aren't, and Stannis has a duty to fulfill. It's not about desire, or power. It's duty. That's the key to understanding Stannis. He is cold, he is ruthless, but above all he is just and dutiful.

Shut down brothels. *rolls eyes*

Few more proposals that damn stupid and there'd be another rebellion.

So that's it.

its the capitalization used in a sentence.

It's...something i guess, not overly compelling though.

By the way, snow isn't capitalized in my version which i reread just the other week.

But others were holding their tongues, or muttering asides to their neighbors. "No craven's peace!" Ralf the Limper roared. Red Ralf Stonehouse swirled the Greyjoy banner and bellowed, "Victarion! VICTARION! VICTARION!" Men began to shove at one another. Someone flung a pinecone at Asha's head. When she ducked, her makeshift crown fell off. For a moment it seemed to the priest as if he stood atop a giant anthill, with a thousand ants in a boil at his feet. Shouts of "Asha!" and "Victarion!" surged back and forth , and it seemed as though some savage storm was about to engulf them all. The Storm God is amongst us, the priest thought, sowing fury and discord.

Sharp as a swordthrust, the sound of a horn split the air.

Bright and baneful was its voice, a shivering hot scream that made a man's bones seem to thrum within him. The cry lingered in the damp sea air: aaaaaRREEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

All eyes turned toward the sound. It was one of Euron's mongrels winding the call, a monstrous man with a shaved head. Rings of gold and jade and jet glistened on his arms, and on his broad chest was tattooed some bird of prey, talons dripping blood.

aaaaRRREEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

The horn he blew was shiny black and twisted, and taller than a man as he held it with both hands. It was bound about with bands of red gold and dark steel, incised with ancient Valyrian glyphs that seemed to glow redly as the sound swelled.

aaaaaaaRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

It was a terrible sound, a wail of pain and fury that seemed to burn the ears. Aeron Damphair covered his, and prayed for the Drowned God to raise a mighty wave and smash the horn to silence, yet still the shriek went on and on. It is the horn of hell, he wanted to scream, though no man would have heard him. The cheeks of the tattooed man were so puffed out they looked about to burst, and the muscles in his chest twitched in a way that it made it seem as if the bird were about to rip free of his flesh and take wing. And now the glyphs were burning brightly, every line and letter shimmering with white fire. On and on and on the sound went, echoing amongst the howling hills behind them and across the waters of Nagga's Cradle to ring against the mountains of Great Wyk, on and on and on until it filled the whole wet world.

And when it seemed the sound would never end, it did.

The hornblower's breath failed at last. He staggered and almost fell. The priest saw Orkwood of Orkmont catch him by one arm to hold him up, whilst Left-Hand Lucas Codd took the twisted black horn from his hands. A thin wisp of smoke was rising from the horn, and the priest saw blood and blisters upon the lips of the man who'd sounded it. The bird on his chest was bleeding too.

Euron Greyjoy climbed the hill slowly, with every eye upon him. Above the gull screamed and screamed again. No godless man may sit the Seastone Chair, Aeron thought, but he knew that he must let his brother speak. His lips moved silently in prayer.

Asha's champions stepped aside and Victarion's as well. The priest took a step backward and put on hand upon the cold rough stone of Nagga's ribs. The Crow's Eye stopped atop the steps, at the doors of the Grey King's Hall, and turned his smiling eye upon the captains and the kings, but Aeron could feel his other eye as well, the one that he kept hidden.

"IRONMEN," said Euron Greyjoy, "you have heard my horn. Now hear my words. I am Balon's brother, Quellon's eldest living son. Lord Vickon's blood is in my veins, and the blood of the Old Kraken. Yet I have sailed farther than any of them. Only one living kraken has never known defeat. Only one has never bent his knee. Only one has sailed to Asshai by the Shadow, and seen wonders and terrors beyond imagining..."

"If you liked the Shadow so well, go back there," called out pink-cheeked Quarl the Maid, one of Asha's champions.

The Crow's Eye ignored him. "My little brother would finish Balon's war, and claim the north. My sweet niece would give us peace and pinecones." His blue lips twisted in a smile. "Asha prefers victory to defeat. Victarion wants a kingdom, not a few scant yards of earth. From me, you shall have both."

"Crow's Eye, you call me. Well, who has a keener eye than the crow? After every battle the crows come in their hundreds and their thousands to feast upon the fallen. A crow can espy death from afar. And I say that all of Westeros is dying. Those who follow me will feast until the end of their days.

"We are the iron born, and once we were conquerors. Our writ ran everywhere the sound of the waves was heard. My brother would have you be content with the cold and dismal north, my niece with even less... but I shall give you Lannisport. Highgarden. The Arbor. Oldtown. The river lands and the Reach, the kingswood and the rain wood, Dorne and the marches, the Mountains of the Moon and the Vale of Arryn, Tarth and the Stepstones. I say we take it all! I say, we take Westeros." He glanced at the priest. "All for the greater glory of our Drowned God, to be sure."

Ugh... I hope neither Euron Greyjoy or Victarion Greyjoy are cut from the show, but I think they're going to be.

Your faulting him for his only bit of sentimentality then.

I'm faulting him for his lack of sense on the issue of the survival of House Lannister and Casterly Rock. It's not like he stopped having sex or anything. He just hasn't remarried and had any legitimate children. Bringing a bastard to the fore may tarnish their reputation but surely that's preferable to leaving everything to Cersei or Tommen.

That disgusting half man abomination is the savior of Blackwater Bay and the best Hand since Tywin himself.

That isn't saying much considering who took up the mantle since Tywin.

Very true. Yet it cannot be denied that the Imp did a good job nonetheless. Unfortunately Tywin doesn't see the brilliance in his son. Only his deformity. I hope Tyrion survives his current ordeal and makes it back to Westeros to assume leadership of House Lannister. As far as i'm concerned they are doomed without him.

he's a convicted Kingslayer and a kinslayer

if he goes back to Westeros and someone extremely sympathetic to him doesn't sit the throne he won't be ending well

That trial was a farce and everyone knows it or at least they are happy that Joffrey is gone no matter who is responsible. I wouldn't be surprised if Tyrion is hailed as a hero upon his return. Besides, whatever happens i'm sure he can talk his way out of danger and into a position of power. He might even be sitting the throne in the end. Varric's got nothing on this guy.

it doesn't matter, he is still in the eyes of the law guilty of Kingslaying (also kinslaying since he was his nephew) and everyone in KL knows that he killed Tywin as well.  He MIGHT stay alive if he returns

I strongly doubt it personally, I mean the person he is backing for the throne is going to ultimately fail.

if she even tries for it

One scenario I envisioned was Barristan realizing how she was going off the deep end and ending it to avoid a repeat of Aerys, absolutely no proof that it will happen, but I'd like to see it end that way

You are really overstating his ability to change people's minds with just words.

He pretty much fails at that when he doesn't have his daddies money backing him up, that's been demonstrated enough i figure.
