Awesome.
I just love how they've nailed the sense of scale of The Wall.
What I don't like is how they say that Cersei loves Robert. Cersei despises Robert. Robert raped her and treats her like ****. But I digress.
They have the visual aspect going for them. I almost feel like I'm watching the Lord of the Rings' trilogy when watching these videos.

maybe they are setting this up so that the "twincest" is a big reveal later in the season for viewers who have not read the novels

Not sure if you read all the books, but
--minor spoiler--
Cersei has an inner monologue at some point reflecting that Robert would force himself on her occasionally and she would use moon tea to make sure she would not become pregnant with her husband's child.

They don't. Lena Headey says she thinks Cersei really loved Robert in the beginning, but it all soon went downhill fast, which isn't entirely correct either, but close enough to not make a fuss about.Capt. Obvious wrote...

edit: and yeah, important family looks in the books:
Targaryens: silver hair and purple eyes (they tried using contacts for the TV show, but apparently they hurt too much)
Starks: brown hair
Tullys: auburn hair (as do the Stark kids with "Tully coloring", so all but Jon and Arya)
Baratheons: black hair
Lannisters: blond hair

You are probably right. It's been years since I read Game of Thrones. Add in some Wheel of Time books and the Malazan books and it's a surprise I'm not mixing up everything.Addai67 wrote...
Maybe you're mixing up the Others with the wraiths? Those killed by the Others become wraiths. Hence the creepy little girl coming back to life with blue eyes.virumor wrote...
Only thing I disliked was the Others. Aren't they creatures of another race? From that preview, it seems they're a bunch of crazed hillbillies out of Deliverance.

I doubt this show comes soon to Finland. But I really hope I could see it at some point. I haven't read any of these books, even when they were highly praised.
I would highly recommend to anyone to read at least the first book before watching the show.
All of the books in the series are such well-crafted page turners, you might find yourself compelled to read the rest of them.

The kids are so cute and all the casting seems to me to be spot on, except I had pictured Catelyn somehow more.. I guess conventionally pretty.
The surprise I want to see is a Rhaegar and Lyanna scene. C'mon HBO, make it happen.

Yeah...Catelyn seems a bit older than I pictured her, but so long as she can act, she looks good enough. They basically tweaked the ages of everyone a bit it seems.
And a new trailer with lots of little glimpses on some pretty big scenes.

That new trailer wasn't as impressive as the other ones
Anyway, 7 days to go!

I was a bit turned off by Catelyn's appearance in the 15 minute preview, but after watching the preview a couple times, she doesn't seem so old when you think about it.
Also, George himself said that all the characters all two years older than they were in the books.

The producers have made some brilliant casting choices, although I also imagined a more conventionally beautiful Catelyn and a more waif-ish Daennerys.
I've found that character names have a kind of subtextual visual shorthand when reading fiction or screenplays. The similarity of her name evoked Cate Blanchett for me.
My concern is --
--SPOILER---
if she already looks this haggard now, how is Catelyn going to look in the later books when her appearance takes a major turn for the worse? The contrast should be huge.
---END OF SPOILER---

@Virumor - I wouldn't be surprised if that were to happen at some point in the future, however, IMHO, the Song of Fire and Ice series mops the floor with the LOTR books. I loved LOTR, but these are characters that will get under your skin and haunt your dreams.

I'm sure that even if Catelyn got a more beautiful actor, she would still look just as ugly as she will be later in the series. Point is, the level of the actor's ugliness will mostly not affect the way UnCat will look.

LOTR doesn't have enough sex for it to work as a high-budget miniseries. I just hope someone eventually makes it into a decent game.
I'm glad they made the kids older. For some of the scenes they'll have to do, it makes me

Does this mean there was an older adaptation attempt on a different network?
I checked IMDB but didn't see any older version.
