Oh that sucks! You could find it online though...   That's how I watch all the shows I can't watch otherwise. 

 

I have HBO. But tomorrow I'll be going to my friends house for a GoT Premiere get together. I'm excited!

Tomorrow I'm watching Once Upon A Time on ABC, then immediately switching once its over to HBO for Game of Thrones.

 

The week after that, I'm SWAMPED on weekends as Orphan Black joins the current line up:

Orphan Black Saturday nights at 9 on BBC America

Once Upon A Time Sunday nights at 8 on ABC

Being overweight tends to be not so very good for your health, that's all. That seems to be what most people base their assumption on that Martin should hurry up a bit with his books.

Anyways, as for the actual content of the episodes

 

although I am disconcerted with some of the trimming down of the plotlines, (looking at you White Harbor, Pyke, and the Riverlands) and Brienne's storyline continues to be meh, everything else is pretty well handled.

 

The North

I was worried about how they were going to handle Dany and Sansa in particular, and although I am not 100% satisfied with the adjusted Winterfell (though I never cared for f!Arya) and Vale plotlines, it turned out much better than I feared.  Sansa in particular is going to have an interesting plotline, Ramsay is thus far all smiles and kindness to her, but I don't see it lasting, more importantly, Roose seems to be losing some of his patience with Ramsay's....eccentricities and I doubt he'll be understanding if Sansa ends up being abused like f!Arya.  Also the North is firmly aware of who she is, and will not tolerate the Boltons one second longer than absolutely necessary.

 

Stannis actually comes across really well in these first few episodes, he has a very nice moment with Shireen, and it seem the show writers are finally ready to stop trashing him for no real reason

 

Mance gets done in the same way, it wasn't clear if the book shenanigans were being carried out with the jewel and all, but I wouldn't bet on it.

 

While there's been no sign of the Manderlys, the Mormont girl sent her letter to Stannis "There is only one King in the North and his name is Stark!" and Stannis is preparing to march on Winterfell with or without the Wildlings with him.  He also made his offer to Jon, but Lord Commander and all that.  (I actually think this was handled better since it was briefer and lacked the 'power of friendship' message in the books)  Janos Slynt got his more or less how it went in the books as well.  It'll be interesting to see how Reek does with Sansa as well, thus far he's avoided her intentionally but he can't seem to be at ease with her being there

 

King's Landing

The High Sparrow totally steals the show, and Kevan Lannister laid out some harsh words for Cersei about her meddling.  The Tyrells are mostly a backdrop besides Margaery right now, and she and Cersei continue their trying to kill each other behind a smile, but things picked up when the Faith Militant arrested Loras, after busting up a brothel and the street vendors.  Its more satisfying because of the books and knowing how it all goes for Cersei with the Faith Militant.  (also a nice shot of Cersei climbing the steps to Baelor in nice foreshadowing for her walk of repentence. 

 

Tommen is kind of a non-presence outside of some scenes with Margaery and a stand-off with the Sparrows.

 

Dorne

Jaime is basically told that he needs to go save Myrcella from the Dornish court, and he's right to worry.  Oberyn's paramour and the Sand Snakes are up to no good with her, Ellaria even mentions mutilating her and sending her back to KL one finger at a time.  Doran is obvsiouly having none of it, and I can't wait to see more of him.  The Sand Snakes are actually a bit of a disappointment.  They've only shown up once and all they did was talk about being edgy and killed an innocent man for no real reason.

 

Jaime and Bronn (who has been written out of his marriage with Lollys Stokeworth so no clue if him trolling Cersei has been totally excised but I imagine so) set off to rescue Myrcella and their back and forth is its usual quality.

 

Brienne and Pod

meh in the extreme, not even Sansa and LF running across them could liven it up, with Sansa turning her down like Arya did, they are following them into the North but went around Moat Cailan through the swamps.  (also some more stuff on Renly's history with Brienne which was meh and inconsistent with his book portrayal but whatever)

 

Arya

Not a lot going on here that's any different from the books, the House of Black and White is well done, but so far its been basically what we get in the books, and not much more, the scene where she throws out all her stuff was nice, but nothing particularly special

 

Essos (excluding Bravos)

Varys comes right out as a card carrying member of the Dany Fan Club, but as always he could be up to something, so Aegon might come into play later or next season, he and Tyrion travel towards Meereen, with some decent banter, but rather underwhelming on Tyrion's part.

 

Tyrion gets kidnapped by Jorah, no Penny, and is on his way to Meereen right now.  Jorah is his usual sunny self, especially after Tyrion smack talks him. (and gets repaid in kind)

 

Dany..... *sigh* well its not as bad as season 2.  But she's consistently outshone by her subordinates, particularly Selmy but even Daario.  She makes her usual mistakes and her locked up dragons are none too happy when she visits them.  She gets a stern talking to from Selmy about her father and is encouraged to be more fair and just, but as all things she touches are wont to do, it doesn't go very well.

 

The Sons of the Harpy are done very well, and their uprising in episode 4 is beautifully handled, with Grey Worm and Selmy possibly dead from them.
