Exactly why I'm worried they just actually killed-killed Mance. Also IIRC in the books Jon has a discussion with Melisandre about Mance in which she admits he might be useful but she'll have to kill him anyway if he doesn't bend the knee. There wasn't any of that either.

If I had to guess, it's because they're snipping loose ends and merging stories at this point.

 

It's a lot easier, cheaper, and, dare I say, works better in a television medium if they drop or merge other plots into the most important ones.

 

No thread that has been dropped is one that I would consider outright 'critical'.

Before I thought Dany should be on the Throne. But she's shown high amounts of incompetence running 1 city. Let alone a whole continent.

Stannis seems like, aside from Mellisandra, he has a decent head on his shoulders.

How do you say no to gladiatorial combat is the biggest question. Any ruler that turns down public entertainment opportunities is a fool.

Anyway, this was a neat episode. Good to have something to watch since Better Call Saul just ended with its season finale.

I agree. She was wrong to disallow them which is why I liked the scene with her boy toy so she got a different perspective.

One thing I want to see which hasn't really been given attention is Val, the wildling princess (yeah, yeah, not a princess... but it sounds so dramatic).

Especially with her comment "I'm not a politician, I'm a queen". To be a good queen she has to be a politician, but if she wants to be a petty tyrant she should keep doing what she's doing.

 

I also seem to recall something along the lines of saying she doesn't care if her subjects dislike her. Which is exactly what Joffery's response was up until he ended up choking on his own blood.
