Stannis is a king in his own mind. The people only follow him b/c if they don't he'll let his mistress burn them. He'll, his 'good friend' is onyl alive b/c she ordered Stannis not to kill him. LMFAO

Manvr did not bray Stannis. He betrayed the Night's Wtach which Stannis is not part of nor is he king of Westeros. At least not yet. So, no, Mance did not betray Stannis because to betray someone you have to be loyalt to them in the first place or at least aligned with them. Mance was never allies with Stannis. So, to proclaim Stannis only burns those who betray him is a flat out lie.

Plus, he has burned others who were loyal to them simply ebcause they didn't bow to the Shadow Witch. Those men never betrayed Stannis. They were loyal to him but you have to suck up to the Shadow Queen because Stannis is her lapdog.

You are correct on one issue; Stannis does not burn people who simply betray him, he burns people who do not accept his authority.

That said, just about everything else you said is whacked out and false, and this is something I am very confident will be addressed in the coming episodes.

As well, Stannis is one man: if all of his followers felt that way, then they'd leave. He cannot possibly burn each and every one of them. Which must mean that they recognize who he is legally, and they must recognize something in him that makes them support him despite his personality.

Well.. many of them are just lap dogs following  someone because theya re losers. How many of his brother's followers flipped to Stannis after Renly was murdered? Yeah, just a minute before they were eprfectly willing to kill Stannis and his army. Now they fight for them. L0LZ Flip floppers who have no real mind of their own. Much like Stannis and his Shadow Queen.

P.S. I do believe Stannis will eventually 'see the light' and turn on his Shadow Queen. When that day comes I might actually cheer him on. :) Until then, though, I don't have time to  make nice with such a lackey masquarding as a would be king.

I think some people are confusing the book version of characters with show version which can be fairly different in characteriztion.

We can't have irrational or uneducated opinions.

Yours is both. Therefore, it's not a valid opinion. What you want isn't rational. It's not worth catering too. If you don't like Stannis, tough.

No. Stannis is the king by Law. Since Joffrey and Tommen etc are bastards. Did you even pay attention when watching the show?

Mance betrayed the realm. Stannis is king of that realm. Robert's children were bastards. That means Stannis is next in line for the throne.

The people he burned were prisoners. Lords he had captured that had sworn their banners to Renly or the Lannisters. That equals betrayal. Refusing to follow your kings orders = betrayal. Its harsh, yes, but that's how it is.

He doesn't burn Davos. He refuses to bend to Melisandre all the time. And if you read the books, nobody joins Stannis out of fear. Very few people do, actually. Because they don't like him. He has to buy mercenaries to re-build his army.

Only Brienne and Davos knows about the shadow baby. Renly's army and the other lords thought Brienne killed Renly.

I suppose my main curiosity at this point is the Dany thread. Will she acquire competence before everything totally blows up in her face?

Stannis is wandering around 'up north', Cersei is melting down in the capitol. And Dorne is up to no good.

And the show is dedicating itself to filler, apparently. At some point all of the differing POV characters need to start interacting. Sending Tyrion and whatsisface to Mereene is promising, but it's only a step in that direction.

"No. Stannis is the king by Law. Since Joffrey and Tommen etc are bastards. Did you even pay attention when watching the show?"

No, he isn't. It hasn't been proven king by law. Also, his brother took the crown  illegally btw by murdering (justly imo) the former king.  Right now, by law, Tommen is king. Bastard or no as far as the law is concerned he is currently king.

Not sure I'm following your reasoning here. Regardless of whether or not Westeros is aware of Tommen's status as a bastard, we (as well as Stannis) are aware of this, making Stannis King by law. Tommen has no blood relation to Robert in any capacity.

Now if we want to talk about whether law has any value in a world where armies + betrayal often determine who's in control, that's another question entirely.

Erm...no...

Robert didn't kill Aerys the Mad. That was the Kingslayer, Jaime Lannister.

As for Tommen's claim for the throne. Presumably, Westeros has one of the two common forms of inheritance gavel-kind or primogeniture. While they're different, they do have something in common the sons OF THE KING inherit the fathers titles.

Therein lies the problem. Joffery and Tommen are not the sons of Robert, they are the sons of Jaime and Cersei Lannister. Since Cersei is not the title holder her sons can not legally take the throne, and neither can she. Instead, the Kingdom of Westeros defaults to Stannis or Rennly Baratheon. Since Stannis is the older brother of Renly, he becomes the king by law.

Renly has the option of claiming the title through war, but since he's murdered it leaves Stannis as the rightful legal king.

Really though, Renly should've just backed his brother. Their combined forces would've been fantastic to see. Well, with the two of them, not just jumping in with Stannis. hahaha

Lots of people may be guessing Robert had no legitimate sons, but how many people (other than Cersei and Jaime) know for certain?
