I'm not too sure about the Sand Snakes at the moment, honestly. The older one in particular seems to have inherited her father's habit of dramatic monologuing but without the cool monologues that actually felt like they were going somewhere. :S

That story she told was from the books, so I give it a pass. But they were kind of fail in the books, too, so it's fine if they are here as well.

Well, i read they weren't like this in the books, esp Ellaria. Seems like the directors want the show to stay away from the books, which is kind of shame.

She's taking the place of Arianne Martell, who apparently is not going to appear in the show.

It was an awfully quick transition from "I will give the faith the means to defend itself." to "Brothels and breweries? Lets go kick their asses and destroy their stuff."

They're reaaallly playing up the extremism for shock value.

If I was Margery I'd go tell the FM about Cercei's escapades with her brother... see how she likes religious fanatics on her ass.
(I wouldn't trust blackmailing her with that threat cause she'd have Margery killed)

Oh, they know. You heard the crowd shouting "bastard" and "abomination" at Tommen.

They entirety of Westeros knows, or at least suspects it.

I do hope there's one Kings Landing plotline that they stick with from the books.

I think this is what's interesting about the High Sparrow. Outwardly, he appears and acts modest, gentle and somewhat innocent but this is likely a mask for his highly intelligent, ambitious, devious and militant side. Cersei can definitely see past his exterior, but I think she's gambling a lot on him remaining loyal to her.

Anybody else think that killing a guy who tried to sell you important information maybe isn't a great long-term strategy?

They were punishing him for smuggling Jamie Lannister into Dorne, not for selling them information.

So I haven't watched the most recent season yet.. but I had horrible nightmares last night... I had nightmares the showrunners were brazenly ignoring books and turning the show into a serialist episodic kind of CSI: Westeros show.

Whole characters and scenarios were cut in favor of ones they deemed "cool," and enhanced many of the battle scenes with special effects from industrial light and magic and had big explosions for the battles.

I hope that was just a nightmare....

If the books are any indicator, Cersei will have hell to pay.

And it also looks like the show may not stick to the Dornish Master plan, which is a shame. The lack of Arianne and the Brave Companions already had me thinking that they wont go for it, but now it really seems like they wont.

I am sad that they cut out Arianne but it seems Ellaria Sand and the three Sand Snakes will play a much bigger role on the TV show.

Which will hopefully make up for it! :)

I'm absolutely fine with the show killing off characters which are still alive in the books but it's kinda feeling like they're now just doing it for shock value rather than actual development in the plot.

I think this confirms that additional faction vying for the Iron Throne won't be added.

Good, the show doesn't need Insane Clown Posse.

I actually think it could be a very interesting plot if played right, but I'm sure everyone is going to hate it because it's a book divergence

Well, I'm not even the biggest Daenerys fan, but frankly even I think killing off one of her reasonable advisers in a back alley and then infecting the other one with a flesh eating disease before he could even get back into her good graces is a bit overkill. :S

Man this episode has made me rage:

Barristan killed and Greyworm living? A badass character for a boring one with a uninteresting romance waste of screentime.

Sailing into Valyria, absolutely heretical.

Ramsay and that chick scene boring.

Mixing JonCon's story with Jorah bleh.

I normally don't like Jon Snow all that much but holy hell his scenes were the best thing of this episode that and the Roose and Ramsay scene.

I've got a bit of a chill for the Mannis. Granted, I don't think they're just going to out and stamp him out, but I'm legit worried now about how things will turn out for him.

To book readers like myself no. To viewers of the show who haven't read the novels yes.

Here, watch the exact moment someone who doesn't read A Song of Ice and Fire figure out R+L=J just through the show-

37:08, Pink shirt and Black T-shirt have read the books, grey shirt and black jacket have only watched the show

I'm really loving the Wall this season, Stannis and Jon are killing it. I don't really like the show version of Tormund though. Not enough hars and jokes about the size of his member.

The way they used Barristan in the show was pathetic, really. He did nothing at all to influence the story in either way. He showed up. Talked a bit with Dany. Got killed in an alley. He served no purpose on the show.

Ser Barristan Selmy, used by the producers as he was used by the Lannisters.

They're back to showing that when they diverge from the books, they tend to suck.
