she started the season in the negatives, but she just keeps going lower, like its some twisted game of limbo

"I'm gonna kick out my advisor!"
"I'm gonna trample over the traditions of the people I JUST CONQUERED!"
"I'm gonna lock up my dragons so no one gets hurt, until I want to FEED PEOPLE TO THEM INCLUDING ONE OF MY VOCAL SUPPORTERS!"

even the Western Roman Empire wouldn't want her as a ruler

The hate for her is so exaggerated. She's made mistakes and suffers from pie in the sky idealism, but she's a young girl who never had experience ruling. It's not an easy thing to know how to apply justice in a world where the laws are based on exploitation.

The dragon thing didn't make a lot of sense, I grant you. Poor writing. She should have locked them up and warned them that one of them would die a day until someone started giving up the Sons of the Harpy. That would be tactical ruthlessness, not just revenge.

"I'm not a politician. I'm a Queen."

Impressive. In fact, I'm so impressed that a regular facepalm wasn't enough to express my reaction, so I had to walk to my brothers room, ask him to put his palm forward, so that I could run at full speed and feel the impact.

Anyway, the show is differentiating from the books basically with each consecutive episode. Eh, works for me. I can enjoy it as a separate story by now, and the more different it is from the books, the more I can appreciate them once they are out.

I'm happy for the deviations at this point, even when they don't work, because it means the TV series won't spoil everything from the books.

Indeed, and when they do spoil something, you can't be sure they are spoiling it or not. I don't think there has been anything major yet.

It will feel funny reading the next book though and wondering if certain things are likely to happen.

Ok, she's an experienced girl who has pie in the sky idealism, then she has absolutely no business going around conquering cities and trying to rule them like some wannabe Aegon.

She needs to have a come to Jesus The Seven The Drowned God moment where she realizes that she's not cut out for this.

Daario's idea on securing the whole city alley by alley would have been a better idea than arbitrarily feeding people to her dragons.  However, she shouldn't have locked them up to begin with

Agreed, she can't rule, at least not right now, in the books she's what? 16? 17? Too inexperienced in life in general in my opinion. ****** ridiculous that she thinks she can rule a people who now hate her, while also dealing with the Sons.

She had to either fight or die- Robert Baratheon wasn't going to leave her alone, that's clear.

Sure, she's caused a lot of suffering, but not more than the scoundrels she defeated. Not yet, anyway.

Except she didn't fight Robert. She ran.

Yunkai, Astapor and Meereen were no great cities, but arguably, while slaves were beat and killed, there was some peace, in a loose use of the word, now there's infighting between masters and slaves, not to mention the Sons causing enough problems.

I'm not saying she should let herself be killed, but she has no business acting a Queen.

She's only started a collapse of the order in Slaver's Bay, in the books she gets an entire coalition of Slaver's Bay cities and Volantis to do her in.  She's not cut out for ruling

she wasn't even born when Rhaegar died, I hold no ill will to her for that.

Neither, but what Addai said made no sense.

Aye, to get a bunch of greedy fucks to agree to kill someone means that someone has no diplomatic tact. If she can't stop people from hating her that much, she really shouldn't be queen.

Can you imagine how the Starks, Arryns and Baratheons (depending on if they survive this) would riot if another Targaryen sat the Iron Throne? She would be trampled, as evidenced by what last happened with an alliance of that precise group. Dragons wouldn't stop that.

they absolutely would, the Dragons didn't even need to bare their fangs against those three

If you consider though, the Septons and Maesters have had quite the effect on dispersing the Targeryens, and their dragons. Like that riot during the Targaryen civil war that killed those dragons, along with a few letters that really fucked up a lot of dragons in the long run.

If the Septons and Maesters want to get in on that 'F*ck the Targaryen' movement, they could start riots or **** over Daenarys diplomatically, respectively.

And if she wants to live, she has to win. You win or you die. Yes, you're not telling me anything I haven't already said- she overreached, trying to single-handedly collapse slavery and capture a continent when she can barely hold a city. But we have yet to see if her gamble will pay off in the end.

Neither, but what Addai said made no sense.

He sent assassins after her. I wasn't talking about the war. He had a hard on to kill every living Targaryen.

Or she could live in idle luxury in some place like Qarth

Seems to me like Daenerys does not know what she wants to be. The good ruler that people like or the strong ruler that puts the boot down. Trying to be both will not get her very far. She needs to make up her mind.

She should have simply killed all the slave masters and their entire families and set her advisors up as governors for the various cities under her rule.

Leave the dragons free but maintain dominance over them. When they inevitably eat people just pay off the victims loved ones and if that isn't enough have them eaten as well. Set up a dragon cult so that being eaten is a kind of honor or something.

Get the entire continent under absolute control and then use the Iron Bank to further bankrupt Westeros. Send Faceless men to kill key military leaders like Stannis and when the west is weak, hungry, and stupid, she sails over with food and supplies to win over anyone with sense and any resistance is swifly and brutally dealt with.

Then with the world united under her power she marches on the north and eradicates the white walkers for good.

You don't think Robert's assassins would find her there? And I'm not so sure she'd be in luxury. Illyrio and Co. were sheltering her so that she could retake Westeros, not sit around eating bonbons.

I just realized how suspicious this scene was.

I know that idea (or at least the idea of just staying away from all the conquering buisness) actually makes a lot of sense but it just seems so anticlimactic if you've got dragons not to invade and conquer some place.

It's like you've been given the most powerful computer in the world, capable of doing insane calculations and running incredibly powerful programs and you just spend all day playing pong.

They are now repeatedly dropping some big Rhaegar + Lyanna = Jon anvils. I suppose for people who haven't read the books it is kind of needed however, because TV watchers didn't get stuff like this...

"I will," Ned promised her. That was his curse. Robert would swear undying love and forget them before evenfall, but Ned Stark kept his vows. He thought of the promises he made to Lyanna as she lay dying, and the price he'd paid to keep them.

Yeah... I was lucky enough to see ep. 1, finally. Despite not having any friends or family (that I can stand) w HBO. This was such a dumb line
