What does anyone know of this threat? There are Watchmen who only view the Freefolk as the threat. How many of these guys has ever even seen a white walker with their own eyes? Not many. Most people in Westeros view it as a fairy tale or a horrible event that happened so long ago that it doesn't matter any more. Duty at the Wall is seen as a punishment. A chore. A position in which you freeze your butt off and fight bandits. Only those in the know regard the honor in the position as more than a faded memory.

Baelish simply needs to be brought up to speed by being provided enough proof to get him motivated. This goes for the rest of Westeros as well.

Baelish hasn't been shown to be a brilliant military commander but he also hasn't been shown to not be one either. For all we know he could outperform Tywin himself. Doesn't really matter anyway because the leader of the country has military commanders that do that stuff for him. Obviously.

When has a Southron ever cared about the Wall?

And no, he's not a fighter, he's said so himself. He has no tact for anything but court.

All the people I mentioned are dead, minus Jaime. Who has become a sub-par fighter without his hand.

Aye, unless Cersei generously decides to give off The Mounta- I mean Robert Strong to the cause of not protecting herself and her son (Unlikely as ****) Westeros is almost deprived of great swordsmen.

Wow. That was more than enough escalation I needed to get back into the show this year, and indeed, the perfect amount of escalation this otherwise dreary and underwhelming season needed (and it was only the 8th episode! good god, 9's next week). Unbelievable ending to that episode. Re-watching it right now, in fact.

You already know dat Daznak Pit hype.

Unknown Giant for Lord of the Seven Kingdoms!

I'm really starting to think that the show is going to have Stannis burn his own daughter. The show writers seem to hate Stannis, and they spent a scene in one episode actually portraying Stannis in a good light, so clearly they were just setting him up for Westeros worst father award.

But he already has Westeros best father award.

I think he'll burn his wife. If he's forced to make a decision between family or another Blackwater, he'll burn his wife over Shireen. She's his only heir.

And she gave him Westeros best father award.

That was a great scene. Kinda reminded me of Ostagar from Dragon Age: Origins with White Walkers slaughtering almost everyone.

This episode pretty much redeemed the Sand snake scenes for me.

Sh-t just got real.

That was one of the best & most intense episodes of the series, and the White Walkers / Wights are appropriately terrifying.  I think they just put all other world-destroying ancient evil monsters in film to shame. It was interesting to see Jon defeat a White Walker with Valyrian steel as well, confirming that it is dragonsteel.

The banter between Tyrion and Dany early in the episode was great also. So far I'm liking those two sharing screen time.

The children Wrights were a nice touch, most 'zombie hordes' in film tend to forget that kids are counted among their number. It was a chilling moment when that Wildling elder, who was slaughtering Wrights left and right, froze when she saw them. Also hats off to that Giant wrecking havoc on the skeletons that tried to get near him, I was glad he survived and hope that he isn't immediately killed upon arriving at the wall; but then again this is Got we are talking about here.

As horrific as the White Walkers are, I almost hope that they push down into Westeros proper; everyone is plotting and scheming and only out for their own agendas. While it wouldn't cure the animosity between the houses, there is nothing quite like the threat of impending extinction to force Stannis and the Boltons, the Laniasters and the Tyrels, Dorne and the Laniasters to work together.

The key to world peace isn't through understanding and loving feelings, it's having an invading outsider sweeping in to kill everyone regardless of race or creed. :P

That was awesome!

It felt like I was watching a whole different show. Longclaw went from being a cool sword to an Awesome one. Holy crap that was intense.

"Also I can't be the only one that was rooting for the Giant to survive, right?"

Absolutely. And, the woman too. Heck, even the douchebag who was anti alliance won me over in the end. L0L Sometimes, I am easy to please. :P

Great episode for the most part. Even liked the Arya part. Cersei's  scenes were likely needed but otherwise boring.

YAY! Sansa. Too bad it was a short scene.

Interesting to see Jorah and Jorah's onetime sword in such contrasting situations.

the rest of the episode was a bit skimpy, especially lulzworthy was Dany's "break the wheel: thing, and I'm curious if Ramsay and the Karstarks will be merged into one storyline, but god damn that scene

I was honestly a bit bored with Dany's storyline for a while. I'm just glad that she has someone more interesting to talk to now.

So let me get this straight. A wight can't be killed by normal weapons in season 1. Jon has to set it on fire to kill it. The show also makes a huge point of showing us that wights are completely silent (adds to their creepness). Osha even has a story about that in season 2.

In this episode they die from simple dagger pokes and club wacks, yet survive steep falls into pointy rocks. They also scream and roar about. Some sort of continuity check would be good.

Other than that the episode was one of the better ones this season.

it seemed to me they only really stopped thrashing after getting too severely beaten and broken, there were some with arrows through their heads and eyes but they kept moving

Yeah he is so tough he shows up after the enemy has already left after his lackeys did the heavy lifting.

That's like me seeing two guys beat up another, them drive off, and then yell after them, come at me!

The little Ice Boy is a coward and a tool. And, is literally worse than Hitler.

The Game of Thrones is a political one. The threats facing the world right now are military. And Littlefinger can't con his way out of them.

This too. I doubt Littlefinger is even aware of the Whitewalker rumors/threat. Let alone would believe it. Further let alone that he would have any possible means of combating it.

He is aware. Tyrion brought it up in a Small Council's meeting in season 2. Plus Sam sent letters to everyone at the end of season 3. Littlefinger knows.

They did get back up after the fight.

I'm pretty sure the White Walkers did this attack to see what they were up against with the Knights Watch.

And now they know. Valyrian Steel.

And how did they know the night's watch were at Hardhome? Plus they did attack the Night's Watch at the end of season 2. The aftermath of the battle is the first thing we see in season 3.
