I loved this episode! I was a little disappointed in the Arya/stableboy scene in that the poor boy cast as the stableboy wasn't a quarter of the actor dear Maisie is (she is brilliant). There seemed to be a bit of a problem with the choreography in that scene that made it look too "make believe". I didn't mind the rushed nature of it, Arya was in a hurry after all.

All in all, I felt that there was a lot of tension and the sense of events rushing ahead of the participants ability to control it. The roller coaster has started and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. It was wonderful!

Tyrion, Bronn ('Oh... Well you wouldn't know him...'), Shagga, Syrio, Ser Barristan... All good stuff.

The Northern Inuit dogs are not going to cut it for full-grown direwolves.

Maybe the TV show will use mini Dire-Wolves?

The Greatjon was a little disappointing, and totally outshone by the awesome that is Ser Barristan Selmy.

Was anyone else picturing Brian Blessed in that role?

Seems like Brian Blessed should be in there somewhere.  lol  The actor for the Greatjon did a pretty good job I guess, especially in the scene with Catelyn, talking about Tywin's bunghole.  Hee.  Oh, and I was complaining about direwolves so props for Ghost and Grey Wind!

No sex scenes- everyone got down to business.  Posted Image

Poor Sansa.  This is when you start to see that she's in way over her practically empty little head.

Osha and Hodor- awesome. lol  I love how they've done the heart trees, and how they tie the mythology in to the political events.  "How can they see if they have no eyes."

Indeed, not just a Ghost sighting, but a Grey Wind sighting as well!!!!!!  Posted Image

Yes, I was commenting on the faces in the trees myself last night - I always pictured them simply as some slashes/cuts in the trunk, but the way they've done them - making actual faces - is pretty amazing.

I personally could have done without  full frontal Hodor, but it was true to the book.

I had to wonder if they gave him some form of prosthetic or if that requirement was actually part of the casting.  He's a big boy!

Osha clearly thought so too. The way she leered at him was priceless. :) I had to rewind the scene twice when seeing it earlier today. For the leer, though--the leer! Although Kristian Nairn has much to be proud of in that department. ~Cough~

Good lord, I can just see the casting call for that one . . . ."Good, okay, now, drop your pants"

Is it wrong of me that a teeny, tiny part of my brain wanted Osha to make a Hagrid reference?

Is it just me or do the dire wolves seem way too small?

They are old enough at this point to be much larger than ordinary wolves. In the book the scene where Grey Wind attacks Greatjon had a lot more ferocity.

Their mother certainly looked large enough to be a dire wolf in the scene when they found the pups.

Yeah, the direwolves are a lot smaller than they're depicted in the books but they can't realistically find dogs of that size anyway so concessions have to be made. At least until they can use CG to buff up the dogs. Hopefully in S2. :)

Liked the episode. A bit all over the place but got a lot of things in. Loved seeing Robb rising in all levels of badass. Dude was convincing, to say the least.

Disappointed that they didn't show the scene between him and Bran before he heads off. One of my favourites in the book and I think we could've got it instead of seeing Hordor's schlong. It really helped show how vulnerable he really was. Though it's a lot more paced out in the books while the change in the series really seems to take the stage in one episode in the series so I can understand it.

And Syrio!

The introduction of the Wights was incredibly well done.

As a matter of fact, all the supernatural elements in this show have been incredibly well done. They just HAPPEN. No fanfare. And nobody BELIEVES in them. That's possibly what is most interesting about his fantasy world: things like dragons are known to have existed, and yet nobody believes in White Walkers.

Episode 8 hit a season high in the ratings, 2.7 mil, up 22% from the season premiere.  That's pretty good!

Oh, and a funny tweet from Hodor's actor:  "so im, back, after penisgate. lets talk about normal things today.... erm... .... ........ nice weather we're having?!"  lol

He's Irish actually. Apparently there's now an internet meme "Hung Like Hodor." lol

Oh, here's another funny one:  "Not gonna lie , driving through your hometown on a wet June night ,
knowing that your ass, etc has just been on TV , is a little weird lmao"

Yeah, god forbid for us to be able to explore sceneries and locations set in world we so love and enjoy!

Despite it's void-of-potential genre, I was mildly interested of the RTS til I saw the early screenshots. Looks terribly bland and uncreative:l Reminded me of some late 90's C&C screenies. But then, early screenshots are just that.

Haha- one of the comments on IGN's review of the last episode:

"Hodor doesn't do much aside from following orders and saying his own name...is he a Pokemon?"

Coolest Pokemon ever. I wonder what he will be like after evolving?

Despite his endowment, there were a couple other dudes in this episode that beat Hodor out for manliest man of Westeros. Like Syrio and Ser Barristan.

NOT TODAY!
