Ramsay and 20 men > A whole army.

Where does Ramsay get all this plot armor from???

Glad I'm not the only one bothered by that.

I guess I'm the only person on the internet that supports what Stannis did.

It is the way.

It's painful. It's hard. It's heartbreaking. It's awful. It's cruel. It's ruthless. It's brutal. It's cold.

And it is the right thing. It is what must be done. Stannis, by god, was doing what had to be done.

If a man knows what he is and remains true to himself, the choice is no choice at all. He must fulfill his destiny, and become who he is meant to be. However much he may hate it.

Stannis will always be the Mannis.

I think GRRM has always portrayed Stannis in quite a complicated moral manner. I consider him to have always had quite a dark unfeeling side but Shireen was a definite strong point for him. Is this a spoiler for the books? I just can't see the same thing happening in the books, or at least not in the same way. He is geographically isolated from his house anyway and events in the books are still a little past those in the show.

I think it is more likely, if she does burn in the books, it will entirely be down to Melisandre, possibly to resurrect a certain someone. That would be a massive change between the show and the books, completely changing Stannis's character and make him darker instead of simply more inept for trusting Mel.

Ramsay's mad skills transcend time, space and franchises. He lurked into Thorin Okenshield's stronghold and snagged a piece of mithril and somehow managed to wrap it around himself on a meta-level.

I wouldn't be surprised if he can one hit kill Drogon..

Of course, if Stannis ends up getting offed or at least thoroughly defeated, it's all for naught. Just the same, I can't help but feel that this "twist" in the plot is just a way to expedite the whole Stannis plot because there's only one episode left and he has to do something before we have to wait until next year or something. So like, there's no real strategy here anymore, it's just, we're up sh*t's creek, so BOOM, black magic, baby. It's not even a real plot development for him anymore, because he's been balls deep in the Fire Lord's holy BBQ for some time.

I dunno about anyone else, but I wasn't even surprised. The entire episode seemed to have some ominous foreshadowing for the whole thing.

What a bummer.

Twist! Drogon actually belongs to Ramsay.

Drogon has been a double agent for Ramsay, ever since that time he flew off.

painfully obvious foreshadowing, character butchery, and a pointless twist that serves only to showcase how the show writers are trying to move from set piece to set piece with little attention to the story anymore.

This season has been a massive downgrade in terms of quality from the first three, four was decent, but this one dragged in the first half, now its just throwing the books out along with any sense of subtlety for more "gotcha" moments that generate buzz

Stannis the Mannis was cool.

Now he's so whipped it ain't even funny.

Ironically so cold-blooded despite the whole fire-god thing.

I feel so sorry for Davos. Dude's gonna be heartbroken when he finds out.

Stannis has always been a man who valued the rule of law over everything.  And yes he has always valued his family, not only on a personal level, but on a pragmatic one as well.

After all, who's going to inherit the Iron Throne if he dies?

That this change came over him (compared to the books) is disconcerting.  I never thought he'd come to a good end in the books.  Now I actually hope Brienne or Jon shortens him by a head in the tv show.

The shadow assassin that killed Renly in S2, obviously.

At this point I'm pushing for Jon, Tyrion, or The Nights King for the Iron Throne. No one else deserves the thing.

Also I was expecting Drogon to be more badass. He seemed small for how I imagined. Maybe this image has made my expectations too high.

Can't say I agree with the last bit. While Stannis played in murky waters regarding Fire Lord's magic, we haven't seen him cross this line before (Davos gave Gendry a repreive on that front). In that sense, I think it can be considered to be pretty real plot development, regardless of how hard the pill is to swallow. It's essentially crossing the point of no return, but unlike Jaime, I don't think Stannis' story is going the redemptive route.

I see Roose Bolton most likely dying next episode (with Ramsay escaping), while Stannis is tortured mentally by his actions before being handled by Brienne.

Edit: Thinking about it a bit more, I guess we could point to Renly as being a "turning point", but at least back in S2 it didn't seem to have the same weight as the sacrifice here.

Predicting it will be a Jon, Danny, and Tyrion triumvirate.

Yeah and I'm trying hard to stay interested. We don't get proper fantasy stories on TV with this level of production value often so I want to stay committed to the show, but it just feels like the writers are like "lol we gotta kill off this character like this. It'll be so awesome."
