so what do you all think about the rumor that Benjen Stark is finally returning next episode?

50-50 about that one. He is listed in the cast list for ep 10 this season. But then again Yara (Ahsa) Greyjoy has been listed for a few episodes this season too.

I know I'm a little late, but I agree. Why does leeching a bastard result in instant assassins, but setting kids on fire is needed for a sunny day...? The Lord of Light is a dick.

It's more likely she saw the deaths of Robb, Joffery and Balon in the fires and used that knowledge to trick Stannis. She isn't THAT powerful or Stannis would have been on the throne a long time ago.

I'd be happy if he does though. In the brief time we knew him I actually really liked Benjen.

This scene was probably one of my favourites in the first season.

He probably would have if he had brought her with him for the Blackwater battle.

I still hear the screams, man. This is the first thing in the series (****, in any series) that has really got to me. I'm legit unsettled by it.

**** you, Stannis.

I'm going to be patiently waiting for the Agamemnon parallel to come full circle.

Sadly I'm thinking he might be a bit more...blue in the eyes if we ever see him again...

Benjen might show up in flashbacks and such. Bran viewing the past etc. Could be he sees his uncle's death.

I honestly kind of suspected he was always going to just disappear without a trace and never return in order to be "realistic" and replicate feeling of people who disappear during wartime.

If he does, I hope he returns with a massive beard and an eyepatch and is all "I got lucky...real lucky..."

If he arrives on the the back of a giant with 7 Valyrian Steel Swords while chasing down White Walkers, I will be pleased.

My opinion of Stannis has dropped significantly this last episode

Spoiler

Yeah... no.

Of course, making an emotional argument is just as invalid.

Stannis is indeed serving the realm. Why is his being king so important? Because he's a stickler for justice and law. He's entitled because, by law, blood, and birthright, he is king. As well, he is still the only royal who acknowledges that the white walkers are on their way south. He's still the only king that cares about the Realm.

Yeah, and in the show we've only had one shadow baby and not two.

I fear Stannis is starting to reach the "Walter White in Granite State" part of his narrative.

the other ones are also worth checking out

God I love these. Mace was the tiniest ray of sunshine this episode.

The Tyrells are the best family tbh.

Their kill toll is several thousand lower than other families.

They are fabulous.

They are rich. (the richest since Lannister gold mines whent dry)

Whatever they did and do, its successful and they do it without genocide, rape, arson etc...

Their symbol is perfect for them. A rose that's beautiful and but has thorns for unwanted hands. They try to be just and fair, but this lulls their enemies into thinking they are beholden by honor like Starks, but in truth they can be even more ruthless and cunning than Lannisters if its required, though they are much more subtle and do it with less bloodshed.

Olenna.

Too bad plants ultimately burn.  Probably will happen when they try to protect their part on the throne when Daenerys finally appears in Westeros.

I miss the Riverlands arc.

and the politics involved in Stannis' northern campaign...

And plots that were more than paths leading to the next "Shocker".

What do you think happened the last time Targaryens appeared? Tyrells greeted them with open arms. Highgarden was never attacked because the Tyrells knew exactly what to do and say at the exact right time.

It was Tyrells who laid siege to Storm's end, you know the one Stannis talked about... Yet somehow after the mad king was killed the Tyrells got away with almost zero consequence. TREMBLE at the power of intrigue and being the literal breadbasket of Westeros.

Tyrells are very likely to support Daenerys actually, specially right now since they are pissed at both Lannisters and Stannis. I can see many similarities between Dany and Renly, and the Tyrells were a Targ supporter before, and they supported Renly as well.

Gold and Iron mines get dry, fish migrate and people die. The evergreen lands of highgarden will grow always and forever. Growing strong.

The Tyrells are only successful in their ability to cozy up to the victor of Westeros' many conflicts. Mace Tyrell's fat arse sat outside Storm's End while the Robert was winning the war. Sooner or later the Tyrells will bet wrong and face a victor who they cannot win over. Sooner or later their lands will know the touch of war and they'll lose what has made them neccessary to the Robert Baratheons and Tywin Lannisters of the world.

This was after the reigning family of the Reach the Gardeners died to a man on the field of fire.

The Reach is a weather-vain. They go whichever way the wind blows. The only time in recent history that they have SHOWN loyalty. Robert's Rebellion they lost.
