and Howland Reed is really the High Sparrow.
Of course not. Ramsay Bolton is the High Sparrow, a Targaryan, Azor Ahai, And the Prince that was Promised.
And the Night King.

The most interesting theory that I ever read was the Littlefinger was actually an agent of the White Walkers, merely sewing chaos in Westeros to soften it for the invasion. Varys was right in thinking he'd burn it to the ground.

I was not sure what to think.

And his opponent in the Battle for the Dawn will be Karl Tanner, the fookin' legend of Gin Alley, who is really both the Great Other and R'hllor.
OF COURSE! It makes so much sense!
Though you left out the part where he's also Drogon, Aegon the Conqueror, and Brandon the Builder.
It's good for Jaime's character development, but so much of it is just internal dialogue. Hard to get across in a visual medium. And plot-wise except for some tidbits about the Riverlord's "wolfish hearts" it's pretty insignificant.
Dorne could have been a good replacement. At this point it's not, but at least we got more Bronn out of it, and maybe Siddig and Nikolaj can salvage things next episode.
'Went to Dorne for the princess, stayed for the adventure.'
Let them come. Daenerys will not say no to them if they extend their support, Targs and Tyrells have been allies before AND there have been marriages between them.
Plus their armies are fresh, and ready for war. Initially they were going to reinforce Renly's efforts but that didn't go so well, but the army was untouched. All the families are pretty much exhausted except Tyrells.
Dany is not stupid enough to take the support of a flip-flop house that changes it's bets at the end of a war. It's likely Viserys has told her how little use they were.
Now house Tarly, that's a house I'd want ruling the Reach. Though they would probably run out of farmers because they all got conscripted.
Yes.
There are some deviations from the books that have been rightly questioned or criticized, and a couple controversial developments that may or may not be book spoilers. Having said that some of the worst backlash is just book purists being book purists. Some of it is on the level of Tolkien fans howling that Tom Bombadil or the scouring of the Shire was cut from the LOTR films.
I'd recommend ignoring the most hyperbolic criticism, watching it, and making up your own mind.
In my opinion it isnt the best season of Game of Thrones, but then A Dance of Dragons wasn't the best of the book series either. All in all though its still quality entertainment.
I'm not a spaz purist about all those details so I'll probably just watch it then.
Problems? What problems?
More seriously, without knowing which reported problems you think might be problems for you, it's hard to advise you.
Deviations from the book sounded wack to me.
Here is the Euron = Daario theory. In my opinion it fits rather well.
-The Undying tell Dany she will meet 3 men; one to love (Drogo), one to bed (Hizdahr) and one to dread (Daario/Euron). This third man is said to have blue or grey lips just like Euron.
-Daario is never around during the times when we see Euron, and vice versa.
-Daario lead the Storm Crows, Euron's nickname is the Crow's Eye and one of his quotes is "I am the storm my lord, the first storm and the last."
-The prow of Euron's ship looks very similar to the hilt of Daario's blade.
-The new show Daario has a striking resemblance to book Euron.
-The new show Daario's actor is 33 years old. Euron in the books is 33 years old.
-Euron seems VERY confident that Dany will marry her, and wants her to.
-Daario wants Dany to love him, for some reason (even though they didn't know each other for that long).
-Daario captured 93 Meereenese ships on the show, the same amount of ships Euron told Victarion to take with him to take Meereen.
-Daario gave Dany a poisoned flower in the Season 4 premiere as a gift. In the books it is said Euron's gifts are poisoned.
-Euron has traveled through Essos before and knows the ins and outs as well as the culture.
-Euron has blue lips, Daario has a blue beard.
-The name Euron comes from a Welsh word that means 'gold.' Daario\Dario is a Latin\Italian name that means 'rich.' Dany will be betrayed once for "gold".
I'm looking forward to that betrayal for coin, regardless of who brings it. I think that is going to be the impetus for Dany to finally leave Mereen and start towards Westeros.
I'm also hoping her departure results in the whole of Meereen being reduced to cinders.
Should I even watch this season at this point? Was going to binge it, not sure I should care at all though after all the problems I've heard about it.
It's still good. But you need to turn on action/ soap opera mental filter and not think about it too much.
Speaking of missing characters, let's pause to mourn the lack of Wyman Manderley. I love that fat man.
I imagine Wyman is the green room downing shots alongside Ariane, Chataya and Coldhands while bookLoras sulks in the corner and Dacey breaks **** with her morningstar.
For real. Meereen is a boil that should have been lanced long ago so Dany could play pretend at the role of Queen for a while. She lost her army, her advisors and two of her dragons so far because of it and nothing gained.I'm looking forward to that betrayal for coin, regardless of who brings it. we really need some Frey pies
Stannis is indeed serving the realm. Why is his being king so important? Because he's a stickler for justice and law. He's entitled because, by law, blood, and birthright, he is king. As well, he is still the only royal who acknowledges that the white walkers are on their way south. He's still the only king that cares about the Realm.
Yeah. He's a monster, but in a world of monsters. And I'm not talking blue-eyed zombies and CGI dragons either.
He now embodies the hard choices and sacrifices needed to attain power.
My only concern is that his methods don't come from within. If this was Star Wars, he'd be pure Sith, and I'd be ok with that. But him crossing a line he previously wouldn't cross is only at the behest of Melisandre. I didn't see the conviction and fire-forged focus such a sacrifice would bring. And that worries me. It also worries me that he has nothing left of his personal strength. No Shireen and Davos won't likely follow him after this.
Otherwise, general question for the thread- I haven't read the books and would prefer not to be spoiled in that regard (even though it seems we're diverging more and more from the source material). Are the books discussed regularly here? If so, I'll just leave quietly.

I had to fast forward through the Shireen scene. Call me weak if you want but I couldn't listen to that poor girl scream anymore.
I'm really surprised Stannis actually did it. I know I shouldn't be...
But with her at the wall and Stannis already at Winterfell in the books, I thought she was safe, at least for this season.
Liked the episode but I kinda rolled my eyes at the way it ended.

Spoiler
Also, where was Grey Wyrm this episode?
Easy, the full army of unsullied arrived after Dany left.
He has a boo boo and can't get outta bed.
The Unsullied should be able to fight more effectively now they no longer have to protect Dany.
What? It's been, like, three episodes since then. That's five years in GoT time. He should have already healed and grown back his manhood in that timeframe. Just like Jaime's hand!
A golden manhood?
Missandei will be most pleased!
Maybe he can get one from a c.ock Merchant.
... Since apparently that's a thing in Essos.
