I don't know why people love it when Ned and Robb Stark die but Jon's death is very bad and kills the show. The three men had great destinies to fulfill but their mistakes resulted in their deaths, and the world keeps moving without them.
Because there are good reasons to believe that he isn't in fact dead, though D & D apparently prefer a duller version.
What they did with Mance and Lady Stoneheart should have been a clue. My fault for believing they respect the source material at all.
In any case, they did it: Slogged through two thousand pages of mediocre storytelling to get us caught up timeline-wise. Any bets on how much older still Bran will look next season?
That's easy to do when you ignore most of the story in favor of your made-up soap opera subplots.
