Check out some of the art by John Picacio for the 2012 ASoIaF calendar.  It is awesome.

This is his Arya.

I reckon there should be two separate threads for this. One with spoilers and one without so that so those who haven't read the books don't have to fear of seeing something that has yet to happen.

Heh. I didn't see that, but now I won't be able to see anything else. Thanks a LOT.

I still don't see it. It's a decently done artist's rendition. I like it. My only nitpick is I would have drawn her eyes slightly different considering her condition at the end of AFfC.

I love all of the artistic renderings for the calendar's and such, but why are the hair colors never right?   :pinched:

No one said that was to be permanent.

That isn't the point. It would've been a cool nod to the last book. :)

My friend is an addict to the books so I knew that main characters die often but *SPOILERS*

I had no idea they'd be that true to the book and kill Ned. :(

Wow, Sean Bean is a total badass

Sean Bean stabbed in bar fight, keeps drinking. "One does not simply WALK into an emergency room."

Arya is not supposed to look too bad. Just a bit on the masculine side; which I think this painting conveys decently enough.

@naughty99 - The shoes April Summers is wearing in the second photo are tragic, and yet I feel strangely compelled to have them. What the hell is wrong with me?

Crazy that he's been married four times. I find that more interesting than his shrugging off a minor stab wound. It makes me wonder what kind of insufferable person he is off screen. That or he's a terrible judge of character.

Manly Man King... lol.  So true.  You can see it in his little hesitation and calling them "weak women."  It's totally daddy issues coming back to bite him in his little royal ass.  Though it's also mommy's chickens come home to roost.  Behold your little monster, Cersei, a spitting image.
...

That Joff kid looked like trouble from the start. I do not understand Sansa's insistent enamor of him, even after he tried to beat up the kitchen boy and then had her dire-wolf killed. It probably makes more sense in the books. Hopefully she finally sees him for what he is.

Sansa is kind of an idiot.  She learns, but she does it the hard way - and it takes a while.

The main issue I had with the episode was the fact that they told rather than showed when it came to capturing Jaime for the most part. I don't mind that they skipped Tyrion but I think it would have added some more tension to show Robb getting into the fight and Jaime just being a badass. It's a shame how Jaime's skills haven't really been shown. Makes the impact of a later event less.

Don't know if you've read the books, but his capture wasn't shown "on screen" in the books, either.  He was brought to Cat pretty much as he was in the episode.  They did make mention in the books of how he killed several people in his attempt to kill Robb.

His skills are never really seen on screen - mentioned, talked about, but in backstory or in general "Jaime is great with a sword" kind of way.  In fact, he never even drew his sword when he and his men accosted Ned coming back from that brothel.

Arya is actually said to resemble Lyanna (Ne'd's dead sister).  It's mentioned a few times in the book.  And Lyanna was apparently quite good looking.

Arya is simply young, and not exactly "ladylike".  classic tomboy.

I thought in the books, Arya and Jon Snow have Ned's homliness (a kind of "long face"), while the other children look more like their mother. In fact Arya is referred to as "Arya Horseface" at one point.

I'm glad HBO went in a different direction with the casting; however. All the Stark children are now quite photogenic (and portrayed by talented young actors).

From what I remember, only Sansa and her friend Jeyne call Arya that.  That should say all that really needs to be said about that descriptive.

It is stated quite a few times she and Jon have the Stark look to them, not the Ned look to them.  The other kids take more after the Tully side of things.  Either way, she is said to greatly resemble Lyanna, she just doesn't believe it.  I am pretty sure the only reason people always call her "boy" is because she doesn't wear dresses, is always dirty as hell, and her hair is always a mess.  No one expects a girl to be acting in such a way.

Why, because kids teased her?  Kids say stupid stuff that doesn't necessarily bear on reality.

He chased the guy at first.  I'm betting he's pretty buff.  :)

But hey, some of us like the older men. *eyebrow waggle*  Also I highly, highly doubt that Sean Bean has to be worried about employment.

Yeah it's obvious he knew about the length of the role before hand. He stars in movies.

Although, now I'm a little sad because I'm only 26, and not an older man to be ogled at. :(

You'll have Davos next season. One of my favorite characters. Not sure how they are going to depict him though.
