Rather pleased to hear that Ian McShane has joined the cast for season 6.

Would Euron really have a 'small amount of screentime' as the article says though? I figure he'd at least be main cast given the apparent Greyjoy focus.

Expect Euron to be demolished by the Twenty Good Men and Ramsay Bolton by season 7 at the latest.

Nah Ramsay was going to use his Twenty Good Men, but he forgets about Euron like the writers did.

Euron is then killed by Dany Sue on her triumphant return to Westros.

Because the world needs to suffer more before this ends.

Euron = Daario.

Unless he's a Faceless Man, I kinda think Euron getting an actor separate from Daario debunks that theory.

The show has gone too haywire now anyway. they aren't following the books at all anymore. In the books Daario = Euron, at least.

Seeing as GRRM drew out the entire overarching plot for the showrunners, and how every character's arc ends, I imagine the storylines are going to end up in similar places even if they stray off course getting there.

So I'm skeptical of this theory in the books too.

They didn't follow those arcs at all.

Here is a list o people alive in the books.

Barristan - About to defend Mereen vs a huge army (important to his arc). Killed in an alley on the show.

Stannis - has a huge army and is about to attack Winterfell. Makes sure his daughter is to be protected and inherrits his titles and whatever else if he should lose. Commits suicide on the show.

Jon Snow - most likely warged into Ghost, and is kind of alive. Can't warg on the show.

Shireen - Alive and well at The Wall, in the books. With her mother. Burned for food on the show, a day after Stannis slaughtered all of his horses for food.

Mance Rayder - Still alive in the books and is infiltrating Winterfell. Dead on the show.

Balon Greyjoy - died early in the books. The show forgot about it and he actually won the War of 5 Kings because of it.

Jaquen - Is in Oldtown in the books. Most likely important to the Sam arc.

Myrcella - alive in the books. Killed on the show. 5 minutes after Dorne sent their own prince with Jamie (smart).

There is no way the show will end the same way as the books, at this point. They went for fan-fiction, and the whole thing is one huge mess. Which isn't surprising, since the show is all about shock moments now. Nothing more.

Lets look at the sheer brilliance of the writing in season 5.

Here is what the show has told us about Stannis. He held out for almost a year during a siege at Storm's end. He hate dogs, cats, rats and gulls. He is know as the finest military commander in the kingdom, and even Littlefinger thinks he will defeat the Bolton's.

1. He brings his family along to attack the Boltons. Huge stupid, right there. Lets make sure the entire Baratheon line dies if he loses. No harm in bringing his daugher alone when fighting people who skin enemies alive.

2. He puts up zero guards in his camp. Ramsey manages to burn all his supplies (which are spread out all over).

3. His army is now starving and freezing. reezing, despite the fact that Ramsey had no problem starting a fire in the area.

4. He kills all the horses for food. Now his army has food. And that were a lot of horses, by the way.

5. He burns his daughter because his army needs food and warmth. Couldn't just eaten the dead horses you killed the other day? Or just made a daughterless fire? In addition this kills his only heir. Hence he will only hold the throne, if he gets it, until he dies. Then the Baratheon line is gone anyway.

6. Half the army disapear during the night. An army of mercenaries....the show tells us what happens during a siege and all that. And mercenaries wouldn't even flinch at the burning. They have seen stuff like that before. Also....no guards yet again? Nobody saw half the army desert until the next day?

7. The snow melts. Hence the burning worked. They witnessed divine intervention. A huge thing in a medieval society. Army still flees.

8. Crazy wife sneaks off and hangs herself. Could have burned her instead of Shireen actually. She has king's blood too.

9. Melisandre leaves on a horse. Despite all of them having been slaughtered. And she doesn't warn Stannis about the impending loss.

10. The finest military commander in the Kingdom then marches out into the middle of a field, with 100 men. About to attack the castle. He doesn't have any siege engines. No battering rams. And not even a ladder. All the Bolton's have to do is keep the gate closed, really.

11. Cavalry shows up from nowhere. 100 meters from a surprised Stannis (and a surprised audience). A cavalry that was never seen at Winterfell for the whole season.

12. Brienne walks onto the battlefield, like she was invisible. Given that she is a Mary-Sue on the show, she probably was.

13. Brienne, having spoken about being honourable before on the show. and that harming helpless people is bad, kills Stannis. An unarmed and helpless Stannis.

14. A bonus! Theon and Sansa jumps off the highest wall in Winterfell, and lands in the snow. The very snow that was GONE 5 minutes earlier.

Somehow I doubt GRRM cooked this bit up.

I agree with some of the folks on le ASoIaF boards that he'll probably be playing Howland Reed or Meribald. Both characters could fit the role that's more or less described as short but important.

Characters like Barristan and Stannis got the chop very unglamorously in the show, yes. But I'm willing to bet they'll both end up dead in the books now too. The show writers just want to rush everyone's arc by quicker.

Then I will get very mad. It would be ridiculous if the show spoiled the Winds of Winter for us.

That would be GRRMs fault for not finishing the books. Can't expect HBO to put their cash cow on hold indefinitely.

That's pretty much my stance. And I believe the choice was also up to him if/when a Game of Thrones adaptation was ever going to be made.

The first book came out in 1996? That's about 19 years to get out 6 more books, at present. Say WoW came out this year, and another 5 for a Dream of Spring, it'll have taken him a quarter of a century to complete his epic.

GRRM is still the master who made all these fantastic characters. Instead of Young Griff, we got lame ass Dorne and Kings Landing. Would have been happy if they put that on hold instead of Brandon's story. Except if:

Not really. The Winds of Winter is most likely out next year. If the show runners hadn't rushed season 4 and 5 ahead like they did, they wouldn't have had to go all fan-fiction. 1 season for book 1,2,4 and 5. 2 for book 3.

Key phrase there is "most likely". It's not fair to HBO that he isn't done yet. Fans of the show, especially those who aren't familiar with the books, expect one season every year.

It might have been a better idea to start the series 2 years later. When Martin was closer to finishing book 6, really.

Didn't HBO go all fanfiction on True Blood, as well? I saw someone mentioning that. Seems they buy the rights to stuff that has a ton of fans, to make sure it is a success, and then just go their own way after awhile.

Martin has handed over the script for TWOW for editing now. Did it last month. The book coming out next year is more than likely.

Barristan stung the worst for me for some reason, just seemed so insanely unnecessary.
