I have to say, extremely well done for season 1.  I had my concerns about how it would play out, especially seeing the altered prologue.  And while I could sit here and nitpick about minor changes they made in dialogue, in characters, in scenes and such, there's no point.  While slightly different, it's just as good.

Damn long time to wait for season 2, but then I'm used to waiting for this series . . .I started reading shortly after GoT was actually published.  A 9 or 10 month wait for season 2 is nothing compared to the years I've been waiting for new books.

Season one could have been better but I'm not going to complain about it, it's actually pretty amazing in itself that that an epic fantasy series got made.  And while I'm not completely happy with it, they did a far better job with it than I thought they would.

Mercy killing.  Not nearly the same.

How do you think they'll translate the second book to live-action material? How many cuts do you think they will make? That's what I'm wondering. They're going to need a bigger budget.

Not sure they need to cut, they just need to do a lot of . . . well, specific editing.  I do think they need more episodes, but that's not a bad thing at all.

Oh, I agree. On one hand, I want them to use every minute of film wisely. On the other, Roz's actress has a nice body. I spent several seconds staring at her hips before realizing Pycelle was talking. :pinched:

They're going to get their budget, no doubts about that, the show's high ratings guaranteed that.    Season 2 starts filming next month on the 24th, presumably to allow more time for staging battles and post production work.

We got no battles out of season one.

I kind of did the reverse . . .listened to Pycelle's ramblings until she got up, then he was just a drone in my ear while I watched Roz.

I know - I'm awful.  Posted Image

Problem was, it only went her way because her advesaries were idiots. Bad storytelling is what happens when characters become stupid for the sake of plot. I didn't feel any drama because I felt that Stormborn never accomplished anything. She got an army because the plot needed it.

They underestimated her.  People do that.  :)

This week felt anti-climactic to me, sort of a round-up of future plot lines, though they had to do it as send-off.  Mirri Maz Dur gets a curtain call- she was fantastic.  I also love it anytime Tywin and Tyrion are on screen together.  Those two actors are just so good.  Dany's final scene was good though I wonder how people who didn't know what was coming will take it.  Do they believe it?  Did it seem epic or false?

Now it's time to hear GoT season 2 news. I have nothing else so waiting for my other show : /

http://screenrant.co...e-mcrid-120008/

Martin will still be heavily involved and is writing his own episode.

Benioff: "He’s writing an episode for the coming season, which is probably the heaviest, the [spoiler]. Now that we’re on the ground here in Belfast and working with the visual effects team and production team that’s going to create the sets, we have to talk to George about what that looks like. He’s just as involved as in Season 1."

Weiss: "…After each episode we get a report card."

There really aren't many battles, though.  The battle at the Trident - Tywin defeating Roose Bolton - was really the only one in GoT.  The Whispering Wood was told from Cat's POV, and she saw nothing.

Other book battles include the Night's Watch at The Fist . . . and, well, not sure there are any others.  Dany has one siege of a city, but that's decided by single combat, IIRC.  Oh, wait, battle at King's Landing.  Yea, we should see some of that.  I hope.

Are you kidding?  George actually does that?

Well that's one way of making sure the series stays honest.

The guy wrote the whole damned series...why would he suck?

if anything it was a great episode. Still every time I see Dany I have a huge smug grin on my face for the "little" plot twists awaiting her.

What?  Why?  He worked in television for many years, it's not like he's never done this before.

Usually a guy's episode for a book/comic he wrote is... less than stellar when it meets the adaptation. Robert Kirkman's, for example.

Putting GRRM's past experience aside, I thought he did a good a job with episode eight. It was denser than previous episodes. That could have overwhelmed some viewers. On the whole I thought it was good.

It's good, but I felt like ep. 9 delivered in more ways.

This series kicks so much ass, next season

1. Ghosts fighting the Knights

2. Dragon Lady and her tribe of people

3. New KIng

4. Why does the kid king act so mean, like he gets pleasure from it and I don't know why he hates that girl hes with so much.

I did not expect much from the series to be honest. I am bLOWN AWAY, BLOWN AWAY!

@Joshd21 his mother has spoilt him too much and he is a bit of a sadist. He hates the girl probably because he is very attracted to her and that makes him feel uncomfortable.

Just read the books:wizard:

Overall that was excellent. The King in the North scene lacked a little of the same "oomph" it had in the book I think, maybe since they put it so early on in the episode, whereas in the book its like a bunch of quick punches with  Drogo dying, Tyrion being named Hand, Jon staying with the Nights Watch and going beyond the Wall, and then a big one-two punch of Robb being named King in the North and then followed up by Dany and the dragons.

Couple of minor quibbles:

-I don't like Shae. I didn't care too much for her in the book either, but in the show it seems they're trying to make her more than she was in the book. Meh.

-Pycelle's scene and the Littlefinger/Varys scene. The stuff not from the book just seems to be a little lacking. Just seems redundant.

-Dany's hair didn't burn off! I won't complain that the dragon's weren't breastfeeding like in the books, but I was a little bummed out they didn't have her hair burned to a crisp like the books. I always thought that was kind of cool, maybe in a symbolic sort of way in that she was truly starting anew with the dragons and all.

I loved Arya's scenes and I loved how we got to see a quick look at Rorge, Biter, Jaqen and Gendry!

The dragons looked pretty good too! And I loved the little montage for the Night's Watch at the end.

It'll definitely be interesting to see how they're able to pull off some of the bigger and more fantastical things next season. Cause the books certainly don't get any smaller in scope from here on out.

Exactly. She won because they were stupid. That makes her a Mary Sue in my eyes.

Pretty sure one of the dragons was breast feeding in that final scene.

Does he "hate" Sansa in the books? In the show it seemed like more of the same "you do what I say!" nonesense. I'm surprised no one told him what a dumb idea it was to kill Ned. And now he'd terrorizing disgruntled peasants. Oh great.

Joffrey is basically a sociopathic teenager thats now been given free reign to do whatever he wants with nobody (maybe except Tyrion) willing to put him in his place. I don't know that he hates Sansa, but he certainly doesn't really treat her like a human, but rather as an object since he's a King so hey, he can do whatever he wants, cause thats what Mommy told him!

And I liked how they tossed in Lancel with Cersei too- I don't think that was in book 1 at all, but it sets things up regarding Cersei a bit

And I really, really loved Catelyn's scenes in this episode too. I think Michelle Fairley has done a wonderful job with Catelyn, especially in the past couple episodes. I felt really bad for her after hearing of Ned and then how she switched tones when telling Robb how they'll kill all the Lannisters...I loved her character development in the books as it felt really natural and its going to be more than a little sad to see it take place in the show, especially if they get to Storm of Swords...
