That.. is not how I pictured Quaithe. But she has an interesting face. We'll see what they do with it.
Filming is in full swing now. You see the actors tweeting each other back and forth about their scenes. Yesterday it was Eugene Simon (Lancel Lannister) tweeting about a scene with Tyrion a la Dinklage. Maisie Williams (Arya) tweeted about "sisters together"... adorable. Looks like they will also be filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia this season. That had been rumored, but it was Croatian authorities who finally confirmed it. HBO has been really quiet, drat them.

Why does Sansa look like she's 15-16?

I think they decided to set the TV series about three years on from the books, so she's supposed to be about fourteen.

IMO all the (Stark) kids should have been some 2-5 years older in the books as well.

Though, I believe Sansa in the TV series is said to be 13.

As anyone else apprehensive about season two? I'm currently blazing through my reread of A Clash of Kings and the thought that keeps repeating through my head is "there's no way this will be as good on the show". Saddening that. :/
A little bit...Mostly in part on how we've heard nothing about the Tullys. I just get the feeling that instead of keeping the show very broad in terms of the number of characters like the books, the show might end up narrowing the view even more than it already has.
I hope thats not the case but I'm just getting the vibe that they're only working to get to the Red Wedding and that'll be it. Such that they might take some shortcuts to get there, in the process avoiding setup that would be needed for events past the RW and simplifying the setup, like cutting down on the Tully's and maybe playing up Robb more or something.

It will be fun to see how dramatically GoT diverges from the novels. I wonder how they will end it?

That may be if they do not expect GoT to last past the Red Wedding. When I got past Tyrion's scene with Janos Slynt a few days back, I was thinking about how cool it would be to see that on GoT. Then I remembered Janos was never introduced, and probably never will be. Cutting off too many bit characters is going to have a snowballing effect if the show does last past four seasons.

Technically Janos Slynt is in the show- he's the gold cloak with the gray goatee you see a couple times. I think in one scene after the betrayal of Ned you see(or hear?) Joffrey making him a Lord.
But thats what makes the book great IMO- you have smaller characters introduced early on only to become more major players later on. Such that when they become more important they don't feel like they came out of nowhere. Slynt being a good example, especially going from GoT to Dance.

From GRRM casting clues, Wic-net believes that Gwendoline Christie has been cast as Brienne.
Too pretty!!! Drat it all, this isn't Hollywood. <_< She is very tall, but still has her work cut out for her to make me believe her as Brienne.
She's tall, so that's a point, but.. Brienne is repeatedly described as being really ugly, except for her eyes.
...this woman is not ugly.
Though that'd be a hard casting call to make "Looking for adult female - Must be muscular, flat-chested, very tall and super ugly"

Games of Thrones: Genesis News
This game is incorporating a thousand years of history into its story? That may be overly ambitious, but it intrigues me. This game could be a gold mine of lore for the setting. The books can only pack in so much without derailing the story. Which is good. If GRRM's writing style was any more meandering I would find the series unreadable.

Anyway, I'm really extremely disappointed at the recent news of Cyanide also securing the rights for the HBO series - while it's most likely too late to affect the RTS other than maybe the designs of the house sigils, the RPG will now likely get unconvincing likenesses of the TV actors for their characters' cameos instead of the chance to get something as close to Martin's descriptions as possible and I really fear HBO's mishmash of design influences infecting the RPG and especially potential sequels.

I hope genesis has as interesting of a story as the books, but I think I'm hoping for to much. On a side note, has anyone here played A game of thrones board game? I've been reading up on it and it seems interesting and I'd like to know if the game is any good.
I really, really like it. It's not without (albeit small) issues, but the two expansions' multitude of modular additional rules reportedly take care of that rather perfectly. I sadly don't really have first-hand experience with the expansions, though, since for the people I play with (mostly my immediate family) the occasional round of Risk is already pushing it, and since the AGoT board game requires even more strategic thinking, they started flat-out refusing me after a handful of times playing it. (And pen and paper roleplaying? Don't make me laugh in despair.)

Let me guess, you won every time right? I think I'm going to get the board game then, it sounds like Risk but more fun.
