That may be if they do not expect GoT to last past the Red Wedding. When I got past Tyrion's scene with Janos Slynt a few days back, I was thinking about how cool it would be to see that on GoT. Then I remembered Janos was never introduced, and probably never will be. Cutting off too many bit characters is going to have a snowballing effect if the show does last past four seasons.

It will be fun to see how dramatically GoT diverges from the novels. I wonder how they will end it?

Technically Janos Slynt is in the show- he's the gold cloak with the gray goatee you see a couple times. I think in one scene after the betrayal of Ned you see(or hear?) Joffrey making him a Lord.

But thats what makes the book great IMO- you have smaller characters introduced early on only to become more major players later on. Such that when they become more important they don't feel like they came out of nowhere. Slynt being a good example, especially going from GoT to Dance.

Yes, Brockololly speaks the truth. Look here he is now with his commanding goatee:

Hmmm... apparently Gregor is being recast since the actor who played him in Season 1 is busy working on The Hobbit movies in New Zealand.

And it seems at one point Bethesda was really close to being the company given the rights to making all Song of Ice and Fire games. How awesome would that have been? Or better yet, if Obsidian had been able to work on one like they did New Vegas?

I was unsure if this was better placed here or in the book thread. Since this thread diverges to encompass all ASoIaF subject matter, I decided to post it here.

Games of Thrones: Genesis News

This game is incorporating a thousand years of history into its story? That may be overly ambitious, but it intrigues me. This game could be a gold mine of lore for the setting. The books can only pack in so much without derailing the story. Which is good. If GRRM's writing style was any more meandering I would find the series unreadable. :P

Now available for pre-order on Steam.

Not too awesome in my opinion. I'm not a fan of Bethesda's writers. They can do an impressive job when it comes to short stories and world building, but their character interaction is weak. Fallout 3 was a cut above the Elder Scrolls, but hardly amazing.

I doubt any developer out there now could do the license justice, but if I had a choice Bethesda sure as heck wouldn't be it.

Sad about Conan Stevens dropping out. That dude lobbied so hard for that role- did he flake or did they push him out? Apparently the guy taking his place was the "white walker" in the first episode. So that's cool, at least.

Don't care about the video game- though I would have, if Bethesda had made it. Their games aren't perfect, but in general kick ass.

True enough- Bethesda writing is always pretty average but thinking of an open world Westeros game? Would be pretty neat.:wizard:

All I know is that he's supposedly Azog in the 2 new Hobbit movies. Makes me wonder how big of a role Gregor has in Season 2- or at least screentime. Can't really blame him for wanting to work on something like The Hobbit though.

It was on the news last night that filming here had to be delayed because of crazy assed winds, three people were injured, it didn't say if they were actors or crew. I'm thinking that girl last week may have been full of it or I picked her up wrong about finishing filming last Wednesday.

I thought I saw on Twitter that a catering tent blew in, no serious injuries.

They'll be filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia soon.

They didn't say what it was, just briefly mentioned filming is delayed and there was three injuries. Could be delayed a while yet as my roof is almost coming off and they are out near the coast which is much worse. If the news is anything to go by they are filming on the Giants Causeway but I suspect thats wrong.

Did anyone see the news story about a group in America trying to breed dogs with the physical characteristics of direwolves?

According to wic-net, it was a catering marquee that blew over and 5 people were injured but released from hospital. They think it was filming of Renly's camp.

In the same post they say that Harrenhal is being filmed at a set in Banbridge. Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen) was seen with long brown hair and a blonde streak.

It was UTV news I saw the story on and for some reason they were showing footage of the Giants Causeway and what looked like a film crew, but I was only passing through the room and stopped for a glance. They should be filming in Dungiven, it pretty much is the dark ages there.

Turns out it was a magazine I saw the Dire Wolf thing in but there was a web address in there too. Dire Wolves being bred as pets. Thats right some day you could have your own Dire Wolf or a dog that looks very similar...

Edit: Theres actually a bit about GoT's Dire Wolves in the news section and how they are inaccurate.

Heh, they got their own descriptions of the ASoIaF direwolves wrong. Though the TV versions do differ from the books, as well. For instance, Ghost barks in the TV version, but only growls in the books, and I always pictured them larger even as young. The producers said they'll be beefing up the direwolves with CGI this season.

Man, those Dire Wolf guys sure are anal, I guess they don't understand that a fantasy series that has dragons isn't going to be historically correct.

Darn, I was thinking they would be using real Dire Wolf DNA extracted from fossilized amber or something.

Direwolves in the series =/= historic direwolves.

Aside from the name, they're completely different. The ones in the series are as big as freakin horses.

I think they're just confused.  :)  They said something like "we have no evidence of any prehistoric culture that was like medieval Europe."  Uh, yeah... that's why this is called fantasy.

I think they just need to watch a few episodes before commenting on it.

I forget: is Martin against or for that kind of freedom? I remember an interview where he got cantankerous when asked about other people meddling in his world.
