Oh yeah, Brienne in the helmet, right? I hadn't noticed that watching it before.Brockololly wrote...
Season 2 preview!
Oooooh! Seeing Stannis, Mel, Davos, Ironborn Theon, King Renly and (maybe?) Brienne has got me hyped.
Stannis looks great, so does Jorah Mormont. And DAVOS.

Game of Thrones: Season 2 "Cold Winds"
It's cool hearing Stannis, he has almost the exact voice I pictured him having.

Awesome! Thats pretty close to how I imagined Stannis would sound too- kind of cold.
Liked how they snuck in the three blasts of the horn too at the end. Nice touch

And Stannis sounds so kick ass. Which reminds me of the book and the fact we likely won't see the next one till another two or three years.

*sighs* Figure it comes back when I dump HBO
When did it leave? It started last spring so you need to give it some time.
For me these sorts of shows I might catch one or two (if they are on the most basic cable programs) but I wait till I can get the whole seasons on DVD.
It has to be that way so I dont miss anything. You should see my television. Sticky notes all along the border informing of what show, disk, episode, and scene I was on.

Well if you dropped HBO wait for the new season on DVD.
Not picking a fight or anything. I just Cant do shows like that on a "this night at this time basis"

Nah I understand, might wait on the DVD's though. Namely as nowing HBO they'll want an absurd amount for them or make it bluray only.

It looks to be March 6 of 2012.

80$ being the highend. Which is not that unheard of for a DVD release of this sort. I am sure it could be found for cheaper then that. I see 45$ for the DVD and 55$ the blue ray on that page.
It depends on how you are. For a show like this I need a DVD so I dont miss anything and it is a show that I like. Some day soon I hope to reach the novels but in my experiance I think its better now that I just wait.
Television or movie adapatations never stand up to their books.

I'm up for discussing the hell out of the first season if anyone is still game this many months later. Favorite characters, favorite episodes, favorite scenes, favorite tracks, you name it. This show made quite an impression on me and I'm beyond stoked for April.
Figures the DVD/Blu Ray would be coming out in America on the same frelling day as Mass Effect 3. I'm going to pick it up (and I urge everyone with the money to do so as well; show support, premium cable shows fund themselves a lot more on DVD revenue than other networks) and then shelve it for a while since I've already seen it.
I plan on reading the books alongside the seasons so I have a few months to grab AGoT and get caught up. I won't read beyond that though. I've already made the mistake of peering at a general wikipedia page and having one character's death spoiled for me though, but in exceptional cases like this it's bound to happen. So now I'm being very, very cautious with where I read things.
Absolutely magnificent cast. At first I was just smiling at seeing Boromir and Ronon Dex. Then everyone won me over with ease.

So far it looks closer to an action game with RPG elements than anything else. The trailer makes me wonder if they are trying too hard to shoehorn as many cameos and magical elements as possible to spice things up too. Ah well, it can't possibly be as bad as Genesis turned out, right?

Yeah, and when you're switching characters anyway it doesn't bother me as much. Would it be that much better playing a lass for a small section of the game?Seagloom wrote...
Cyanide let slip new information on their Game of Thrones. I must admit, the lack of a female character option irks me. I understand it given the social barriers most women face in Westeros, but it still annoys me. The game better be damned good to make up for that.

Graphics look decent enough, perhaps reminds me of Witcher 2 a bit much. I do wonder the point of the license when the appeal of the series is the story, the universe isn't really that fascinating.

I'm still eagerly awaiting the boxset version of the first season. A definite buy.
In any case, has anyone else followed Leigh Butler's read through of a Game of Thrones over on the lovely Tor.com? It's pretty entertaining. She just finished AGoT a few weeks ago. She basically read like two chapters or so per week for several months. She's also the host of the Wheel of Time re-read. Personally caught onto her style from there as I'm more of a WoT fanboy.
She's gonna start Clash in early January so it is a good time to get caught up if you'd like.
Looking back on Season One of AGoT, I would have to say that Bean's portrayal of Ned was just brilliant. Makes the dude a heck of a lot more sympathetic than he is in the book. His execution was just an amazing scene. It struck me deep even though I'd read the book beforehand. Now, I was just left feeling numb after I read it.
It's really a cast full of great actors and performances. You've got the obvious brilliance of Tyrion and Arya but you had Dany's actor really flower as the series goes on. Catelyn is another that is amazing. I could go on and on.
While I do love Lena Heady and am still bitter that TSCC got cancelled, her portrayal of Cersei is something I'm in two minds about. I really would have loved Tricia Helfer's take on the role (also a BSG fanboy!)
She just compliments the image I had of the character in my mind. An impulsive, seductive and unpredictable vixen.
