Yo, I hear the second season premieres on April 1st at 9 pm, which I only mention here because I'm going to start talking about Theon Greyjoy in the book thread.

The good news- there is a new production video out.  Lots of pictures here.

Bad news, for some- they opted not to use the bare-breasted look for Daenerys in Quarth.

The words "new production video out" implies to me theres a video somewhere that we can watch. But I get the feeling I'm mistaken. Care to enlighten me?

They better at least show her in Dothraki wear at some point. :P I don't care if we get to see Dany's boobs again, but I do find it shocking they cared after going out of their way to show pointless nudity last season. Going from the Littlefinger sexposition scene to Dany walking around with exposed breasts isn't even a lateral move. It's tamer, and given her dragon rearing, justifiable.

I loved the description of the Qartheen garb and would have loved to see Emilia don it. She would have looked awesome. It's also a distinctive type of dress while what she appears to be wearing seems to be more ordinary. Also, would have preferred if they had gone with the hair burning off at the end of last season. Ah well, imagination it is haha.

Preview is up here

Only about a minute long, but its got one of my favorite speeches from Varys in it. Lots of cool scenes too- like Stannis and Mel burning the Seven, Jon up beyond the Wall (Iceland looks great, just needs some trees), Joff with his crossbow, Cersei in the riot and Dany in Qarth. Some more spoilery stuff too in some of the quick cuts too...

And damn, the actor thats playing Joffrey is doing such a terrific job at making him such a hateable little **** of a king. Great stuff.

The new preview was awesome. Tyrion's little moment was only outshone by Arya.

Oh man.. Looks like they're really doing the stripped Sansa thing. I wonder how far they'll go since she's underage. I had to pause on this video a number of times to catch all that was going on.. definitely a lot.

I have to ask...

Why is there a woman stripping for Renly?

Yeah derp moment from me (it's not a direct visual representation of the novels - bad GodWood!)

I guess they figured Renly's 'coming out' scene needed more ******.

Yeah I don't recall the bedding being described until the 4th book. I could be wrong it's been a while since I read A Clash of Kings. I don't think it was ever flat out said whether or not Renly and Margaery "did the deed" either. But HBO will sexify any moment in the books.

In AFoC Margaery claims they didn´t. Whether true or not is another matter.

Did you also notice Catelyn was in the same room as Littlefinger? That never happens in the book, Littlefinger only negotiates with the Tyrells much later.

Did I mention how much I like Daenerys?

Question. In the trailer, Varys mentioned: "a king, priest and a rich man".
Who are the first two? It certainly didn't look like Joffrey, so I am assuming it's Stannis?

Yeah, thats sort of the whole point with Margaery- whether or not she is who she outwardly presents herself. I'll be curious to see how she works in the show, since in the books she's much younger than Natalie Dormer and her youth is part of what makes people see her as the sort of unsullied princess type.

Yup, dude with the clenched jaw is Stannis and Melisandre is the "priest."

I'll be curious how they deal with Dany's content this year. Considering she doesn't do that much in the book. Do they take some of the stuff she does in Storm of Swords and push that up into Season 2?

And I just love that quote from Varys in the book:

“In a room sit three great men, a king, a  priest, and a rich man with his gold. Between them stands a sellsword, a little man of common birth and no great mind. Each of the great ones  bids him slay the other two. ‘Do it’ says the king, ‘for I am your  lawful ruler.’ ‘Do it’ says the priest, ‘for I command you in the names  of the gods.’ ‘Do it’ says the rich man, ‘and all this gold shall be  yours.’ So tell me—who lives and who dies?”

“Some say knowledge is power. Some tell us that all power comes from the gods. Others say it derives from law.
Yet that day on the steps of Baelor’s Sept, our godly High Septon and  the lawful Queen Regent and your ever-so-knowledgeable servant were as  powerless as any cobbler or cooper in the crowd. Who truly killed Eddard Stark, do you think? Joffrey, who gave the command? Ser Ilyn Payne, who swung the sword? Or… another?”

Tyrion cocked his head sideways. “Did you mean to answer your damned riddle, or only to make my head ache worse?”

Varys smiled. “Here, then. Power resides where men believe it resides. No more and no less.”

“So power is a mummer’s trick?”

“A shadow on the wall,” Varys murmured, “yet shadows can kill. And ofttimes a very small man can cast a very large shadow.”
