That's one of those things about the show I just don't understand why they changed it.  Kinda like Littlefinger telling the hound's story to sansa at the joust.

They change lots of minor stuff like that ones you mentioned, and for example the ranger that got away from the Others in the prologue, etc... Sometimes they change for storytelling, sometimes just for the sake of it, to keep those who read the books on their toes.

I have never read the books but it looks like a good series.

If George Martin ever finishes the series, it has a good shot at being the best fantasy series ever. I've enjoyed them so far.

Oh me gosh, it truly keeps your head spinning.... there is always a surprise, an no one is safe.... Sometimes the contents of s chapter truly scare me witless, ****** me off on a large scale, or make me want to cry.... this is how writing is supposed to be:wizard:

My body has never been this ready before. Well, except when they announced ACIII, but excluding that...

You two don't watch True Blood? It's basically True Blood and Game of Thrones are the reason I have HBO.

I watch True Blood. Although last season was so godawful I seriously considered quitting it on three separate occasions. Next season will make or break the show for me. I also watch Treme and Real Time, and the odd movie On Demand every few months. HBO is easier to justify than Showtime at this point. All I watch there anymore is Dexter, and that ends in two seasons.

Aside from Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire is my current favorite on HBO.

I thought the last season of true blood started off really really bad but got better around the midpoint of the season, though your right it was probably the worst season of true blood. I also watch Real Time, I used to watch Boardwalk Empire but got bored after the 1st episode of season 2.

Still not impressed by Melisandre. I did, however, really like what they did with some of the sets. Iceland does look amazing. I watched the video elsewhere though. After following your link my ears went crazy. I use headphones for sound on my PC, and absolutely couldn't tolerate the YouTube repost.

I didn't feel True Blood ever picked up this season for reasons too many and numerous to list in an unrelated thread. Between a pointless time skip, dropping plot threads, and ignoring past character development all over the place I seriously questioned the worst of watching it. I also wasn't thrilled about how a certain plot development was handled considering how traumatic it is in reality. Just... ugh.

Nah I understand, might wait on the DVD's though. Namely as nowing HBO they'll want an absurd amount for them or make it bluray only.

It looks to be March 6 of 2012.

80$ being the highend. Which is not that unheard of for a DVD release of this sort. I am sure it could be found for cheaper then that. I see 45$ for the DVD and 55$ the blue ray on that page.

Fliipin' 'eck. The exchange rate surely isn't that bad: in the UK the blu-ray is £37 from HMV, and that's the most expensive.

Only tangentially related to Game of Thrones, but reading Rock Paper Shotgun today and they reviewed Crusader Kings 2 and had this to say:

If you’re not terrified of maps then you can play and enjoy Crusader Kings II. It’s that simple. Do you like pondering alternate histories and creating grand narratives? That’s what this game is about. Do you enjoy courtly interplay and elaborate plots of succession, marriage and murder? That’s also what this game is about.

Heck, do you like A Game of Thrones? This is the best Game of Thrones game you will probably ever play, unless you really need the fantasy element and if you do, then for God’s sake just pretend that pagans are riding wolves and French people have six eyes or whatever it is you need to do, but play this game. There’s incest and intrigue aplenty and isn’t that what GRRARGH Martin is really all about?

Its got a demo if you want to try it out. Its pretty damn cool.

^Probably not. It's the same studio that developed the RTS Game of Thrones: Genesis, which is simply terrible.

That's what I think, so I'll wait for the reviews.  On a side note I'd love a game that played like a song of fire and ice.
