Trust me, Khal Drogo would've given Vyseris a much more brutal and gruesome death had he been allowed, but remember, he was on sacred dothraki ground. No blood must be spilled.
In which case, Khal Drogo did the best with what he had. Give Vyseris a literal "golden crown".
Only in this case, the gold was piping hot liquid.

I love that interpretation. Some would take "no blood must be spilled" to mean no killing period. Drogo on the other hand takes it to its literal meaning.
"Here's your golden crown!"
*pours molten gold on Vyseris' head*
*Drogo turns to his fellow Dothraki*
"Well, I didn't spill any blood!"
"That's our Khal Drogo!"
Laughter ensues.

I'm torn between who I like more: Tyrion Lannister or Littlefinger.
"He was no dragon."

One of my favorite moments of the first season was when the Targaryen prince was killed.
I hated him. He was just a pompous douchebag and he got what he deserved.
Madness ran in his family. I wanted him dead, but when you look at the overall picture it's to bad he didn't get a clean death.
I thought his death was just for someone who w**red thier little sister in order to satisfy his lustful ambitions, ambitions he wasn't prepared to contend with. If anything what he got was a light sentence, I was expecting the Dothraki to be much more violent with him given their nature.

Very true, I forgot about that. Were it another time I would've expected Drogo to beat him close to death, then time each limb to a horse and wait for him to wake up, only to see himself pulled apart. I don't know if you can tell but I truly hate the older brothers in this show, with the exception of Robert and Snow.

For example, I don't want to hate Sansa Stark, and I don't. But goddamn it, she can be FRUSTRATING some times.

I find it hard to hate any of the Stark's. I see them painted as the only family with a sense of nobility. Then again I suppose that's helped along by the circumstances. I do admit that I truly love four characters (once was 5) and I suppose with the circumstances as such I'll be disapointed eventually. I really need to read those damn books.

Meh, the Renly/Loras scene seems to end up being one giant ****tease so to speak and Harrenhal is IMHO another disappointment. Not quite big enough and way too crumbling. With a ridiculous amount of men GRRM's Harrenhal would still be almost impenetrable. This ruin? Unless the shots in the video are massively deceiving: Not so much. No big deal in the grand scheme of things, but their version of "just right" won't get any praise from me.chunkyman wrote...

New locations of Season 2 video.
Sweet peaches the second season is looking good.
Harenhal looks like it took forever to get just right, the set designers need a big bonus paycheck.
edit: regarding the comic book adaptation: I vaguely remember seeing a preview of the first issue and IIRC it looked fine, but of all the serialized ASoIaF works (this adaptation, the original novel series, the Dunk & Egg series, HBO's GoT) I see this as the least likely to ever get finished, so I won't get it (which I'm aware further reduces the likelihood of it going the full distance, but so be it).

....Well the scenes in that village do look splendid. It really bothers me how any and all scenery shots have reminded of some Pole expedition rather than this infinitely deep forest though.

Yeah, I never really pictured it as a crumbling ruin but just sort of a deserted castle that was basically half melted by dragon fire. I wouldn't necessarily read too much into those shots they showed however, since with Winterfell in season 1 they had quite a bit of greenscreen to add to the sense of scale. I'd guess they'll do the same for Harrenhal.

Yeah, I love how awesome Iceland looks, but its not really how I pictured the stuff north of the Wall. It needs some trees at least for the stuff near Fist of the First Men. I mean, the surrounding area is called the Haunted Forest! But I think the Iceland stuff works great visually for stuff like the Frostfangs

Eh.... It was just a hint. I think telling someone to not get their hopes up for something that is stretched out across 7 books is a good service.LTD wrote...

Indeed. If I knew how to code everything in color so that you can only see it when you highlight it, I'd do that.

Admittedly it only really bothered me when they (presumably) showed the Fist of the First Men with no trees around. And I presume they filmed Craster's Keep on Ireland?LTD wrote...

I know, but TBH aside from the very-far-away shots Winterfell never felt more than average in size either. And while they can always add more post-production I'm fairly sure that there's no feasible way to enlarge the wee gate of Harrenhal.Brockololly wrote...

Crastors Keep looks like a sound stage so it was probably filmed in the Paint Works in Belfast.

A Song of Ice and Fire is being brought to screen by people who love the books more than their own egos and with a huge budget- I am determined not to futz this season, because that fact alone is just so ****ing awesome. Last year I was on pins and needles thinking they'd screw it up but I for one plan to enjoy the ride this year.

The real world influences are unsurprisingly nothing previously unknown, but it's always nice to read him talk about them. Beware though, there are several spoilers for the first five books safely kept under a line of warning. And a couple of mildly spoilerish exciting teases for TWoW that are repeated in the first two eye-catcher quotation boxes or whatever those are called. I'm drawing a blank here.
