The real world influences are unsurprisingly nothing previously unknown, but it's always nice to read him talk about them. Beware though, there are several spoilers for the first five books safely kept under a line of warning. And a couple of mildly spoilerish exciting teases for TWoW that are repeated in the first two eye-catcher quotation boxes or whatever those are called. I'm drawing a blank here.

Yep, thanks.

Fixing the links, hope you don't mind.

Seems like I forgot to rage herein on the Painted Table having a very recent representation of the Wall instead of anything appropriate for the time of Aegon's Landing. Consider it done. The other inconsistencies don't bother me too much as it's still pretty impressive, but the anachronism of putting (only) the three castles manned at the start of the books on it really bothers me. Either picture none of them at all or only the Nightfort or it and both Wes****ch-by-the-Bridge and Eas****ch-by-the-Sea or actually use a bigger table and/or smaller signs to put (almost) all of them there. And I've considered it getting updated over time, but since said details (markers and names) are carved instead of painted that would strike me as ridiculous behavior by the princes of Dragonstone.

edit: LOL, I didn't even know the letter combo the (inherently ridiculous) autocensor takes issue with is also used for female genitalia.

Hahaha- **** is censored on BSN:lol:

I'm not fretting too much on the painted table and the wall- I'm guessing it might have as much to do with space than anything.

And WiC has six new clips from the first episode of season 2 up on their site. My personal favorite- Tyrion joining the small council:wizard:

Well, like I said I don't care that it is neither a floor table nor as big (or fadedly colorful) as it should be as this rendition gets the point across (almost*) as well, but the ... I hereby dub it Tablewallgate ... strikes me as needlessly lazy and/or careless.

Anyway, love the last clip and like the others well enough.

@LPP: watch, not march

*aside from the implications the elevated seat at Dragonstone's position brings with it, but that would merely be icing on the cake

edit: three clips from the second episode ... Erm, HBO? Not that I don't appreciate it, but don't you think you're going a bit overboard now?

Yeah I think I'm going to stop watching promos now. HBO is starting to spoil. Only 4 more days!

I've been avoiding most of the trailers and behind-the-scenes snippets all year. My expectations for season two are lower. There is no way their budget can adequately cover a certain battle, or Dany's meeting with three folk that shall remain nameless.

As long Brienne, Stannis, and Melisandre are portrayed well, I will be happy enough. Renly is guaranteed to suck, so... no hope there. :P Also, does anyone know if we are finally seeing Roose Bolton this year?

Roose has been cast, so I'm thinking yes.

Awesome. The only character I felt the loss of more last year was the Blackfish.

Yeah, in Robb's character video you can hear Roose and briefly see him at about the 45 second mark.

Some of the upcoming scenes are so... out there that I have a hard to imagining them accurately pulling them off even with an infinite amount of money.

A lot of the magic parts of the books, mostly in AFFC and ADWD generate such wtf moments for me anyway. Blood magic, Aria's entire arc in the last two books, the three eyed crow, ect.
Maybe they can even improve some of these aspects.

That being said, I think the upcoming books (at least the next one) will be much more well received by readers than the last two. Ending it will be tricky... if he ever does.

Yeah you can watch the first season online. It may take a while to find the appropriate links, but that's how I watched the first season since I don't have HBO.

I'm looking forward to Melisandre's big moment in the caverns underneath Storm's End.

The magical moments do not perturb me. The crow is standard dream vision stuff. Actually, all those moments are standard stuff if you have read enough fantasy. As much as I enjoy the creepiness or surreality of some moments in the books, Martin is way better at writing political intrigue and internal monologue than he is the supernatural. Not that his writing in those segments is bad. It just isn't exceptional for the most part.

Or you could buy the DVD's/Blu-Rays, though that would require a long wait considering the timing of release when compared to the original airings of the season.

It's a very bad idea to read these books while you're hungry. It's basically food porn.

Anyways, I didn't think such was possible, but book Sansa has managed to annoy me even more than TV Sansa.

A Song of Ice and Fire IS food porn.

It makes you want to have sex with meals. Its insane.

You CANNOT read the books, have a cup of honeyed milk, and say that you didn't just have an orgasm in your mouth.
