What's with the complaints of too much graphic sex. There was just 1 sex scene. You also didn't see any nudity in the sex scene. There was also some nudity and dry humping but not that much.

There were plenty of breast shots.

Yeah I think people mean nudity, not sex scenes.

I recall in the book Dany wasn't nude when Viserys was nipple-twisting, but that was nice foreshadowing with her wading into the too-hot bath. And on the other hand, they made Catelyn into a middle aged frump whereas she was supposed to be naked for the scene with Maester Luwin.

It was positively tame for an HBO show. The first episodes of Rome were bedecked with full-frontal nudity, for goodness sakes.

Erm.. counting may not be your strong point ... imp and his bj then the bevy that comes in should be two, but let's lump it in as one; all the dancers getting mounted en masse; Dany fades to black before she get's mounted, and then Cersi getting mounted by Jaime .... just because it was the same position featured didn't make it one scene LOL

Though I didn't think it was graphic myself, seen worse on Sex and the City for sure, I was mostly perturbed by the lack of variety ... you'd think someone would want to do it against a wall, or in a bed while kissing but everyone seems to like to do it outdoors and doggie style. ;)

Heh.  Your loss.

The incest is not just for lulz, as I mentioned above- it was a common practice in the old kingdom to marry brother and sister.  I'm guessing it was for purposes of lineage.  But if you're that dismissive, I doubt you care...

Well that's kind of a Dorthraki thing.  With Cersei I imagined they wanted it to be a bit of shock value when you saw her face so it was just convenient.

I knew what was coming in that last scene and I was still shouting at the screen.  Image IPB

My husband hasn't read it and I didn't tell him anything, he sat up and said "No he didn't!" i patted his arm and said, "But his last name was Stark, and you liked him, get used to that." LOL

Loved the first episode. Epic production design! The opening title sequence blew me away. Very cool to see the clockworks animations for all of the important cities.

Dinklage was a great Tyrion of course as I expected, and Sean Bean was a very believable Eddard. The actors playing Arya and Bran gave impressive performances despite their young ages. Although Viserys and Dannaerys were aged up a bit and looked rather different from how I imagined them when reading the novels, they grew on me. I'm sure it was challenging to play Viserys in just the right tone without coming off as a scenery chewing monster, but Harry Lloyd pulled it off and both actors playing these siblings had a great chemistry working together.

I was very surprised to see Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) playing Cersei, but she pulled it off. I think the actor playing Khal Drogo was one of the actors from Stargate Atlantis. Across the board, the performances were compelling, the cinematography and art direction were epic and this was a great kickoff to what looks like it could be my new fav series.

I did notice that the actress playing Sansa had a slightly annoying, very nasal voice. It's possible this could grow to become a hindrance to audience empathy in later episodes where Sansa will be making some questionable choices.

Also is it just me, or did the actor playing Jaime Lannister fumble a couple of lines where his accent seemed very odd?

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime, is Danish. He has quite a bit of accent in his usual speaking voice, so I thought he did very well and his English accent was more believable to me than Dinklage in a couple scenes. But I'm American so it might just be my ear.

I'm also American, so I cannot claim to be a good judge of British accents. However, the actor playing Jaime did seem to have a slightly Germanic or Scandi pronunciation for some of his lines, so it makes sense that he is Danish.

I didn't notice Dinklage screwing up the accent, but maybe this would be more noticeable on second viewing.

Yeah I forgot the little guy. But that still only makes 2 and they weren't that graphic. The BJ happened offscreen in a sense.

The men mounting the dancers had pants on. It was just dry humping. Although, I wonder if they were actually having sex in the book. I thought it was strange and funny that those guys fought to death over dry humping a woman.

I don't count offscreen sex as graphic sex. It's like saying DA2 had graphic sex. :D
I also don't see how nudity is considered graphic sex.

The girl with the little guy was on top or about to be. Although I'm not certain a little person would be tall enough to do doggie style properly in that situation.

I see you like variety. :P

Well once or twice I thought it sounded a bit affected.  But, he gets a pass because... he's Tyrion.

My memory might be sketchy but pretty sure it wasn't dry in the book.

I dunno... do people watch HBO, like, at all?  Or Showtime?  It was pretty much the usual stuff.  I could see being shocked by the incest if you didn't know the background.

I would have liked to see the Hound looking more disfigured with burns.

In the book yes it is actual sex. The scenes in the first episode are somewhat tamer than in the book.

Christ that was ****ing awesome. Makes BioWare's Song of Ice and Fire homage 'Dragon Age' appear completely infantile.

Extremely impressed with this so far.

Huge fan of the books, the only thing I don't like about them is GRRM's inability to finish writing them in a timely manner.

I thought HBO did a great job with this. Some minor changes that I didn't feel were necessary, and one large change that I didn't feel was necessary (and I think, frankly, was kind of dumb) but the acting is excellent, the pacing was excellent, the sets were excellent.

This could be an amazing series.

That's what I've heard. And on my last read of Game of Thrones, I broke it up into episodes, and wound up with 11. So it's doable (I believe there are to be 10 episodes this season).

So, assuming it gets picked up, we have 5 seasons coming to us (assuming Dance with Dragons is actually published sometime in the next 3 years). Seven if he actually completes the series.

Can you imagine the stark raving mad army of fans that will erupt as the deadline approaches for the HBO series to begin prepping the 6th and 7th seasons if GRRM has not finished the books in time?
