I'll end up watching episode 2 again Sunday, but I'll just say that they've changed a great deal from the books in that episode. Like, kind of a lot of stuff. Not sure how I feel about it...

Yeah, it was a great episode until the ending. Where the hell did that come from?

It felt a lot less congested than the first one though. Not bad by any means.

Once again, I'm annoyed by the 10 episode limit. It's causing them to scrap a lot of the good stuff.

The second episode was way better than the first! A loved the scene with Tyrion and the Guard Captain.

I tried to make some "no spoiler joke" but I could not find the words. Peter Dinkage is a great Tyrion and Tyrion puts everyone else to shame.

The second episode was great, but we're finally starting to see the major differences between the book/show come into play. Ah well, it can't be helped I guess =/

Some caps!

Davos giving Melisandre the hairy eyeball.  I watched this scene several times and he never touches the finger bag, sorry, I imagined that.  Fangirl vapors.    BTW I noticed the young guy who was writing the letter for Stannis, that is supposed to be Mattos Seaworth I think- Davos' son.

My "sexy long haired old guy" radar went off during this scene over the badass Night's Watch guy at the fire.  Meow.  I dub him Jigwit (Jon is great.. who is that?!).

I loved this panning shot of Robb's camp, with direwolf sigil.

Nice caps - I missed the sigil shot . . .very nice.

I thought the guy writing the letter was the younger Maester that Stannis had (can't remember his name). Or, I thought it was meant to be - didn't think it was one of Davos' sons.

I'm pretty sure it's his son. He is properly introduced in the second episode.

It looks like the actor.  Guess we'll find out.

Mild spoilers for those who haven't read the books.

Before S1 had begun, it felt likely I'd totally take the snob road when it comes to inevitable changes, removals and additions HBO would end up doing. "Tsshkh! It isn't supposed to go that way, i dont remember reading that!!"
But nay! I have surprised myself by really liking more or less every single scene that comes from HBO writers rather than GRRM.That was the case through the first season and seems I'm finding the new scenes in S2 are just as enjoyable.

Also, it is awesome the dire wolves have begun looking like something a grown man could fear!

I'm sure the S2 will prove to be at least as grand as the 1st one was! I just hope they focus on little fever characters/episode.

I'm dangerously close to hoping they will take the series to some bold, entirely different direction after/during Storm of Swords. Once Storm ends, HBO would have to cover 2500 pages worth of breakfasts, Dany being boring and Brienne doing  road tripping. It made a tiresome read and it would be terrifying to have to watch it as well. Come to think of it, black screen saying something alongside the lines "3 years later" would be a perfectly fine screen adaptation of FFC and Dance.

Anyone who thinks ADWD is boring, I don't even know... That said, we should discuss books and spoiler development of the TV series in the book thread rather than here.

Yay for direwolves being real direwolves! I also thought Drogon was very cute.

I haven't met a ASoIaF fan that rates ADwD highly in part because of its plodding pace. Everyone I've talked to about it says it's better than AFfC but pales next to the first three books. It's probably the strongest reason I haven't gone out of my way to read it as soon as possible.

Ok this is really spoiler territory and belongs in the book discussion... sorry to be a thread nanny but the TV viewers shouldn't have to worry about spoilers here.

Neither Dance nor FFC are bad books in my books.(< - HAHA!! ;l ) Combination they make just feels way too long and persistent change in overall flow and phasing of events. Reading them back to back is like taking two inhales in a row.

But yas sorry for going OT.

I made it a point to not post anything revealing. But I agree, it belongs in the book topic.

On a side note: I was never a fan of the house sigils being part of the mechanisms in the opening, but since that's the way things went the new CGI guys absolutely should have stuck with the theme. Mind, I think both island places' importance is severely overstated, so I don't mind all that much, but that doesn't change them being considered seats of Great Houses in-universe, so they should get equal treatment. If Storm's End (and possible additions in later seasons) doesn't get a big centerpiece with a Baratheon sigil on it I'll officially deem the whole opening ruined. ... Come to think about it: have the Twins been part of the opening before? (I think so, but I couldn't say for sure.) And if so, how were they depicted?

And of course much less important than the needless rewriting of characters (LF in ep.11, Cat and Cersei troughout the series, but especially in ep.11 and 12, respectively, Shae, Renly & Loras (their personalities, not their relationship),...) and some especially odd and unwelcome plot changes like the one with Bronn in ep. 12 or the deaths on Essos in ep. 11 & 12, but I find it kind of insulting to viewers' intelligence (and House Baratheon) that at least going by HBO's viewer's guide (meaning there's little chance it's different on the show) Renly campaigns under a crowned stag in Tyrell colors instead of being the one and only claimant using the original sigil. Well, at least it isn't all modern like the Arryns' or completely fuglied up like my poor beloved Martells'. Seriously, did they have an unpaid intern do it? Pathetic effort.

I love the opening to GoT, house sigils and all. It may be my favorite opening to a show ever. Yes, perhaps better than Angel or Jem.

The Twins were in the titles when Robb's army was passing through it as shown here: Opening Credits Version 4

Thanks. Just as I feared, even that overzealous minor house got the full treatment, so they've broken the theme already. Season 2 really is one downer after another for me, some minor, some major.

Without spoiling anything this is a great starter and excellent setup episode for things to come. Glad Peter Dinklage is getting top billing in the credits.

The new CGI/SFX guys not giving each new Westerosi location on the animated map in the opening a large central cog with the respective house sigil on it.
