Regarding Petyr

Not only was it gross, but it pushes LF into strange characterization angles. I just have no idea what they are doing with his character.

Yea I didn't like it either. It was too blunt and exagerrated an
attempt to remind us of his character. If the aim was to remind people
that they should hate him, then it's completely unnecessary as I doubt
they forgot what he did with Ned.

I' m not seeing how HBO's Littlefinger would differ from book version all that much. Martin's Petyr does run atleast one brothel and views it as an excellent source of income.  In  Game of Thrones(the book) it is pretty heavily implied he sees them working girls as his property, his investment, his whöres.

Littlefinger has never gotten any of his own POVs. Readers see him exclusively through eyes of people who are of higher birth and stature. I thought it makes perfect sense he is all charm, silk gloves and quick wit in such  surrounding..
...and turns into a cold, cruel ässhöle  when getting to toy with people who are below him, or working under him.

I've always had really hard time imagining what it feels like to watch GoT without having read the books. Considering the vast pile of main characters and how  series has been off screen for ..what, 10 months now, I'd guess  more or less subtle reminders of who is and who isn't an utter arse are pretty welcome to people who haven't read the books.

I think at least some portion of Littlefinger&teh harlot - scene was  about underlining Joffrey's exceptional cruelty. They wanted to make it clear what he did, what he ordered isn't  viewed as business as usual even in brothels of King's landing. Calibration of cruelty of sorts!
...But yeah surely it was mostly about  " Hay don't forget, Littlefinger is a basterd!"

I suppose they have to make things that are implied in the books explicit (pun intended and apt) in the TV series. It just seems unfortunate since it takes something away to have things spelled out in neon lights.

A lot of the comments I'm seeing about Ros are negative, i.e. people dislike that she gets so much screen time and think she's boring.

Ghost's new look was a little iffy to me at first, but I thought it would be a good thing to continue using CGI instead of real dogs for the shooting. Working with animals is tough, working with primitive canines on a set is a whole other deal.

I live with a Japanese Akita. As his guardian, I feel immensely privileged to have him as a companion. Being on the short-side, he seems huge next to me when we go for a walk. Also, he follows me around the house and sleeps all day. When shady people come visit he will growl before they even get close to the fence. In a way he is my dire wolf <3

But as a pet, my Akita is impossible to train. He won't sit, stay or bark if he doesn't see the point, and if he doesn't feel like it. He'll ignore all of my commands until at random moments I stop paying attention and he will behave like a puppy. His stubbornness is another trait that is hard to manage when I'm in a hurry and he's taking all of his time to sniff something on the ground before peeing on it.

Good thing the direwolves were Northern Inuits and not Akitas then, hahaha.

Loved ep 2! Especially the Theon scenes, Ayra and Gendry, and Tyrry deposing Slynt...

In the UK they had an add break before the 'salt wife' scene and made an additional warning before resuming the ep (they already give one before the ep begins). Theon looking downcrested (literally) was really quite touching.

Hotpie attempting to define a battle... Gendry "You're a lady and I've pissed in front of you!"

I did think the Balon- Theon scene was good. Also Theon and the salty dog he meets at the port... LOL. The look on that guy's face contrasted to Theon's peacock strutting. They must have pulled him out of some Irish pub and said "okay, now look unimpressed."  However you really see the woundedness in Theon when Balon stalks off, having completely rejected everything he is. Alfie Allen nails it.

I thought Asha was okay.  It's hard to think of her as Asha, though.  For now I think of her as some less impressive cousin named Yara.

Why did they rename Asha?

I believe they thought people would confuse her with the Wilding woman currently in Winterfell, named Osha.

And apparently the actress playing Osha(Natalia Tena) is doing such a damned good job playing the character that George R. R. Martin is considering expanding Osha's role in future novels.

He started writing this series the same year I was born (1991).

We can be patient.

(Don't even think about pelting me with anything)

I started reading this series in 1997.
My patience has worn thin.  Posted Image

However, I don't throw things.

My thoughts are they are giving the viewers more ammo to shoot at Littlefinger. Without reading the books I know he's an lowlife bastard. Still it was good to see him being kept in that light. I think they are setting him up to do more bad things.

I think the Red Priestess aka Red has some hidden motives. After playing a few RPGs and watch a few fantasy movies it's not not a good motive she has.

Still it was nice seeing Arya again and still has that fire. I hope she does get out of all this trouble and get some paybacks going on.

As for Joffery man he's messing things up. I hope Tyrion fixes it and at the same time out smart Cersei.

Still good episode and fun times to me.

Carcetti as Littlefinger was amazing this episode.

The scene where he revealed his true colors was the one time where the series exceeded what I had imagined when reading the book.

Osha/Asha and the depiction of the Iron Islands was fantastic as well. The wide shot where they passed a lichen-covered boulder on the surf was gorgeous.

Yeah, the settings. Hubby is not a great misery lit fan but he stays for the world and the acting, I think. The iron Island's panoramic shot where you can even see the bridges strung between the fortresses was superb. When Theon's ship docked hubby was "Where do they find places like that?" I told him I thought it was Ireland.

Someone on Twitter pointed out that the scene with Ros gives a counterpoint to how Cersei treated him.  He's paying it forward to people he has power over.  Anyway, I guess they have to do more characterization but it's unsettling when they get too far off of GRRM's material.

GRRM is good at subverting tropes, though.  Posted Image

Cutest tweet ever comes from Gendry:

Thanks for all the nice GoT messages this weekend, they're also teaching me new lingo. 'Shipping' myself and all of you right now. So hard.

Heh.  Lots of people "ship" Gendry and Arya, for those who are unaware.

@ Maria- Yes that is Ballintoy Bay, Northern Ireland.

Gendry and Arya ship. Ew. :P

I'm curious: does GRRM need to approve changes made in GoT or are they allowed to proceed however they wish? If GRRM does approve of these changes, then maybe how characters appear is how he intends them to be perceived. Obviously there are allowances such as Tyrion not looking anywhere near as ugly. Aside from that type of stuff, I wonder...

She's a little older in the TV series so I can see it, for the future.

GRRM said they consult him sometimes but D & D can do whatever they want with the material and he has no control over it.  He does write one episode per year- this season it will be Blackwater.

Someone who was at TitanCon in Belfast tweeted that they watched this week's episode three feet away from GRRM.  It must be weird for an author to watch his "babies" on a screen.

I can't see it. That has more to do with how much Arya will change than her age, though.

Anyway, I guess I can safely gripe about bad changes in GoT then. Hooray?

Game of Thrones was just renewed for a third season.

Like we didn't see that coming. Hah.
