Desperation. They haven't met their sales targets. The only reason they would offer "buy 1 get 1 free" is to bring in new customers simply because sales are lacking. Most existing PC customers would already have the game.

Sounds like some of the people saying that this game was selling worse than Dragon Age Origins are wrong

Bioware... It is sad....

It's actually pretty wonderful. My little sister finally gets her ME2 copy (She isn't well off financially) and I'm happy for her. She's been wanting that game for a while and Bioware made it possible for me to surprise her. For that I'm very grateful.

For first time in a very long time I have to agree with you this is a very good thing because of fact it isn't limited to new purchases but the fact it's also transferable which is a good thing if have friends and want to get them interested in same thing as you such as ME series (even if ME2 isn't as good as ME1 imo). I bought 2 copies one for me and one for friend when ME2 first came out I didn't like it she did, I sold mine after I had played it and registered the Cerberus code (on my 360 version) and now I got new copy for free and my Cerberus was transfered to the new PC one. Win:WIn, I played and didn't enjoy so much as first title then made some money back and now got it again for free.

When I first heard of this (on Neogaf) I thought this was a joke/fake. Now I see that this is "Marketing" in 2011. Desperation at its finest...

If we own ME2 on Xbox 360 can we register our Cerberus code for that version on the PC version or are we expected to purchase a new one?

Not complaining just trying to get some info.

I appreciate the free PC copy of Mass Effect 2. I've played it on Xbox more times then I care to admit and have often wondered what it'd be like on my PC. Thank you <3

If you look in your registered promo's you will see it is already there for PC, because I was wondering the same thing, I also have it on Xbox 360, so it looks like we already will have Cerberus network and more for the PC version as well, I hope.

EA will transfer your cerberus network for you from any version to another just have to ask them to do so.

If this is the case then how do we get the game to recognize our existing Cerberus code and DLC?

I've purchased all the DLC for ME2 even the crappy alternate appearance packs and I'm not thrilled about shelling out the cash for the same content on the PC version.

If they transfer it will I still have it on my 360 version or will it then be on PC and not on the 360?

Dragon Age II sold better during its first week, thanks to pre-orders.

Following weeks seem to have not gone as well, but that's not something it makes sense to mention in a promotional compaign.

Yes You will still have it on 360 but will now also have it on PC version to once speak to them. It will show up in your registered content on BioSocial here as both versions in your list, the PC ones you download and install directly off this site.

For example my previous copy was also Xbox 360 and in my registered list here had:

Sentry Interface (Dr. Pepper) Mass Effect 2 Xbox 360 More Info
Zaeed - The Price of Revenge (Cerberus Network) Mass Effect 2 Xbox 360 More Info
Cerberus Weapon and Armor (Cerberus Network) Mass Effect 2 Xbox 360 More Info
Normandy Crash Site (Cerberus Network) Mass Effect 2 Xbox 360 More Info
Cerberus Arc Projector (Cerberus Network) Mass Effect 2 Xbox 360 More Info
Firewalker Pack (Cerberus Network) Mass Effect 2 Xbox 360 More Info

Now I have that plus once I spoke to EA:

Sentry Interface (Dr. Pepper) Mass Effect 2 PC/Mac Download
Zaeed - The Price of Revenge (Cerberus Network) Mass Effect 2 PC/Mac Download
Cerberus Weapon and Armor (Cerberus Network) Mass Effect 2 PC/Mac Download
Normandy Crash Site (Cerberus Network) Mass Effect 2 PC/Mac Download
Cerberus Arc Projector (Cerberus Network) Mass Effect 2 PC/Mac Download
Firewalker Pack (Cerberus Network) Mass Effect 2 PC/Mac Download

Yes the free version is PC only which I thought was shame but then again I am happy playing it on the PC or giving even to a friend if didn't want myself. The fact they are releasing a ME2 version for PS3 soon anyways and it would impede sales of that so if I was Bioware I wouldn't be giving away free copies of ME2 on PS3 regardless with new version coming out in shops if it was me either. Imho it's free not just to new customers but pre-existing ones too so as far as I'm concerned its a good thing. Even if don't want it yourself you could use it to bolster friendship with someone else getting them into a series you like with a free copy.

Good for her then!

Personally I would of appreciated like 2400 or more bioware points, or a bundled Bioware 'classics' rpgs from the last 10+ years.

Everyone I know who games and likes RPGs already has ME2.

I highly doubt that they are doing this to appease anyone.

It certainly appeased me though, little but I'll still on these forums, giving criticism also whining a little.

It sounds to me like apology for DA2.

But I just read into it whatever I wish.

Sell your physical copy and download the free one like I did? Use the money to buy yourself some points I guess is an alternative way. Cloud>Silver Lining sort of thing.

I assume it would be that same way it does anything else, once you start the game and it logs into the Cerberus network which is an ea server the items show up, kind of like the items we unlock when playing Dragon Age Legends Facebook game, I could be wrong but it seems like that is how it will work, all your items are listed in your profile under game promotions, again I am assuming.

Basically this. I had hoped to get some cool dragon age sword to use in ME2 or something, or even another item for DA2 that was called like "the armor of a million souls". Oh well.

Dear Bioware,

Since I am a loyal fan of Bioware, I've already got Mass Effect 2. Maybe it should've dawned on the marketing team that people who would've bought Dragon Age 2 probably bought Mass Effect 2 when it came out a year ago. Perhaps the marketing team should've offered something to those people who were loyal to the franchise rather than the company by offering the next few DLC free of charge for those who have used their online pass or bought the game new. Thanks for trying though.

Sincerely,

A loyal (and always will be) fan

Yeah, giving away a GOTY that's still selling incredibly well. The AUDACITY!

:innocent:

A game released back in January that has more gameplay then DA2. Which has quite literaly already been around the block.

More gameplay than DA2? Good one!

Anyway, just give it to a friend and make them happy.

Glasses are always half empty, I swear!:P

Oh wait, let me guess is this the part where you exhist in your little bubble and you believe emoticons will stop it from getting busted.
