Sell your physical copy and download the free one like I did? Use the money to buy yourself some points I guess is an alternative way. Cloud>Silver Lining sort of thing.

Can't really.. I have all PC versions of the games. No console versions.

prefer keyboard+mouse to limited controller :)

Well, i think i'll make use of it just to get rid of the disc check of retail version.

you can redeem your retail copy cd key in eadm and get a digital copy, I bought the collectors edition when me2 first came out and have got it redeemed on eadm and have the digital deluxe version so no need to get the disc out to play it.

Personally I would of appreciated like 2400 or more bioware points, or a bundled Bioware 'classics' rpgs from the last 10+ years.

Everyone I know who games and likes RPGs already has ME2.

I agree with this. I guess it's nice having a digital copy of Mass Effect 2 lying around, but this kind of stuff makes me feel reserved about buying new games right when they come out though, as I had preordered ME2. <_<

Really? Why am i learning this only now? :pinched:

Oh well, not any use to me then. But that was the point, a gesture of goodwill with hooks attached (most people aready have it, and it doesn't come with the "free" DLC ;)). Still nice for those who can make use of this :)

Well even though I've had ME2 for ages now, its pretty nifty that you're not just giving it away to new sales past this point, but previous as well. Very cool.

Agreed!  When I began reading this announcement I was prepared to be frustrated, because I hate it when I buy a product and then an incentive comes out which makes me feel I should have waited, but including people who already own the game is a very cool turn of events.  Mind you, I already own both games, so this doesn't do me a lot of good (and all my friends own both games as well ... we're a Bioware friendly group) but I still think it quite cool.

As for the people screaming "Desperation!" - it's a marketing incentive, I hope it does work for them and helps to sell more copies ... even had I not enjoyed DA2 I wouldn't want to see Bioware crash. (remember, if Bioware doesn't make money, it'll be a lot longer before we see another quality game)

Desperation. They haven't met their sales targets. The only reason they would offer "buy 1 get 1 free" is to bring in new customers simply because sales are lacking. Most existing PC customers would already have the game.

OK, why do people do this?  By which I mean, pretend to knowledge they don't actually have and then make pronouncements about it?  I mean, personally, I think that all stands a decent chance of being right, but that doesn't change the fact that it's still just some educated guesswork.

I'm confused. Why are people complaining about a free game? How can it be bad? Sure, if you already have it, it isn't as great .... but it's still good. (And can't you gift it or something? To a friend/family member?)

Oh well. Congrats on the good sales.

And thanks! I've been meaning to get around to ME2 for ages. (And if it comes with mine, and new copies, I'm definitely buying the DAII/ME2 bundle for my Dad. He's been yelling at Sins of a Solar Empire now for longer than is healthy.)

Meh on a happier note.... i already own TWO GREAT GAMES!

And there you go.  I didn't feel like Bioware owed me anything, because I really enjoyed DA2, so I've lost nothing.  Hopefully a few people who have only been following the Dragon Age series will take this opportunity to introduce themselves to Mass Effect and fall in love with that as well.

Been there myself, and it has a new expansion coming too so there'll be more of that in the future

So you can only get PC copies right?

Yes the free version is PC only which I thought was shame but then again I am happy playing it on the PC or giving even to a friend if didn't want myself. The fact they are releasing a ME2 version for PS3 soon anyways and it would impede sales of that so if I was Bioware I wouldn't be giving away free copies of ME2 on PS3 regardless with new version coming out in shops if it was me either. Imho it's free not just to new customers but pre-existing ones too so as far as I'm concerned its a good thing. Even if don't want it yourself you could use it to bolster friendship with someone else getting them into a series you like with a free copy.

Considering I only have the 360 version this is great for me! I just recently got a rig that can actually run most PC games on high quality. Although I haven't given it the Crysis test yet.

Since most bioware fans would already have me2, this promotion seems to be to try and hold on to the new folks bioware is trying to attract with it's "button=awesome" type of thinking since da2 was a bit weak.

I didn't get any sleep. Makes me cynical.

Wow...thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks....:?

This is starting to get embarassing EABioWare.  I mean, that's quite pathetic.  Even in the announcement you have to attack Dragon Age: Origins?  Even though you know full well that Dragon Age: Origins sold more in its 4th week than it did in its 3rd, something which will never happen for DA2?

Pathetic.  You realize you guys made DA:O right?  Why the constant need to bash it?  And why the ****** poor PR marketting?  Mass Effect 2?  Really?

I really appreciate this, it's a nice gesture. I was disappointed with DA2, I enjoyed it but nowhere near as much as DA:O; it felt like the beginnings of a good game rather than the finished product. I've heard ME2 is a very good game and am very much looking forward to playing it. Ta very much.

So Bioware let me get this straight.

You are actually ****ing over your PC community even more with this "offer." Not only did you dumb down a game made for PC, DA:O, and release DA2. But now console things that already own ME2 can have their Cerberus network code transferred to their PC copy?

So if I give it to a friend, he will have to pay money to get that same thing.

Awesome, good job Bioware at giving a big _I_ do your PC player base.

Don't see how it's a middle finger job if they (your friend) gets free version of ME2 full game and not Game+DLC (unless has already registered a cerberus code). That's kind of a cake>eat it>give more cake demand.

And do not call console players "things", I hope was typo on your part because a lot of console players like myself are also PC players.

Hey console thing, I've already said how it was a FU to their PC fanbase. You are only proving my point on console players.

Console players can get their Cerberus code transfered to their PC copy, PC owners obviously can not. So console players can give it to a friend AND they will get Cerberus access as well. A PC player can not.

It really won't make any difference, while we the biggest fans the ones who come here day in day out to contribute in some way when you think about it we really are only a small section within the customer base. If the forum members boycott the products it will only at most dent the sale in such a tiny almost microscopic way it won't make much difference to them the only real difference is they will rely on other sources for feedback to improve their games in future.

The DA2 sales is not because of us why it has slowed down so fast after intial few weeks it's purely down to the product itself not the forum members. In the end we would just be shooting ourselves in the foot because we won't have the ability to put input into the next title because we wouldn't have played the last.

From a customer point of view I like this offer because it is not just for new customers.

I approve of it and have taken advantage of it myself. Image IPB Bioware and even dare I say it EA have my thanks.

While that is true if you imagine the knock on effects to other forums and new sites it could get quite a large following.

Unless the give a code to PSN It's not really much use to me. It's not like I need another ME2 I've got 2 of them already anyway.

Okay, do I need to keep that EA spyware program installed to play the downloaded game? I know I need it to download the game, but can I uninstall it afterwards or is it like steam?

Not quite, we have predicted DA2 sales, known DA2 sales and known DAO sales.

DA2 outsold DAO in the opening week - which given pre-orders and the marketing isn't surprising. After than the sales figures show DAO outsold DA2.

We also know that DA2 was predicted to outsell DAO by some half a million units. Quite how it will manage this when the sales figures have dropped so sharply is anyones guess.

While we can only guess BW's sales targets, it would be hard to imagine them being lower than for DAO.

That said I don't give a flying monkeys about the sales figures in regards this offer. I think it is a nice thing to do - and this is from someone for which it is useless.
