In other news, this makes me happy I haven't yet installed the copy of ME2 I got for Christmas. Provided the download works, maybe I can give it to a friend or something.
So from someone who hasn't yet played ME2 and has been intending to, thanks for the generous gesture, Bioware.
@Zinos Yes, you can

You could always try talking to EA support nicely to see if they can transfer the "spare" Cerberus network activation to another EA account though, you never know.
Hi, I have received a game I had for more than a year as a gift. I have given it to another person, who isn't going to be a potential customer. Could you give him the bonus Cerberus Network code aswell, sparing him to spend 15 bucks?
Yours sincerely.
That will work.

Indeed, I already pointed that out (he said that in this thread too) - what I was talking about is the Cerberus Network code (that gives access to some ME2 DLC, see FAQ).QwibQwib wrote...

The Cerberus Network is activated on your current BSN account, so if you give the game code away you can not also give a Cerberus Network code (which is why I suggested talking to support to see if that can be activated on another account too if you want to gift ME2 to someone).
I preferred ME2. *Runs from incoming rocks...*MonkeyLungs wrote...

Personally a large degree of my shock at how DA2 turned out is directly because of how well Mass Effect 2 turned out (regardless of how one feels about either game's rpg credentials).

That should show the "effect" pardon the pun that MA2 still has right now. Its such an excellent title it can be used as an excellent means of sugar coating over a rotten apple that is DA2.Ostagar2011 wrote...
Good grief ... they have actually listened, and they show they care. This is praiseworthy indeed. Few other companies would try to make up for a disappointing release by giving one of their best selling titles away for free. A good sales promo for DA2 + a nice way to get new people introduced to ME + an excellent show of appreciation for your existing customers. Well done!

You know what CD project did.
Gave us the EE version of the game for free.
SOmek ind of free DLC, free content or any thing would be better.
You clearly don't remember what a horrible lauch The Witcher had-- wow it was bad. Bugs bugs bugs. The EE version was the version that should have shipped first.

Even with the bugs, still a great game from a small polish developer.

I entered the online pass code on the Bioware site and wrote down the me2 code. I then installed the EAdownloader program.
After I installed it there was some message like it's not working, try again later. So I exited the program. Now when I double click the icon nothing happens. Should I reinstall the downloader? Am I supposed to wait 72 hours? Confused.

You mean the 1.01 patch, I think? That didn't resolve the DRM issue. We're still hoping the next patch will include a fix, but no details have been released of its content yet (though a Bioware dev kindly confirmed the patch will launch 'well before' April 30).

What use is that to all the console owners out there who bought DAII but have no pc specced to play ME2 on the PC .. (which is exactly WHY they bought the console version of DAII in the first place )
What about us ???

Agreed! And sorry for my comment, John.
I'm thinking why only for the PC because it was easier to impliment, and probably not as many legal loopholes to go through if offering to all the consoles?
Just a thought.

So Bioware let me get this straight.
You are actually ****ing over your PC community even more with this "offer." Not only did you dumb down a game made for PC, DA:O, and release DA2. But now console things that already own ME2 can have their Cerberus network code transferred to their PC copy?
So if I give it to a friend, he will have to pay money to get that same thing.
Awesome, good job Bioware at giving a big _I_ do your PC player base.
Don't see how it's a middle finger job if they (your friend) gets free version of ME2 full game and not Game+DLC (unless has already registered a cerberus code). That's kind of a cake>eat it>give more cake demand.
And do not call console players "things", I hope was typo on your part because a lot of console players like myself are also PC players.
I agree.
I mostly play Console games but guess what? I can PC just as good as anyone else. Don't call us "Things" And I won't refer to PC players as "Whiny, unpleaseable dolts who is better off living in a basement."
Not all of Console players are frat boys. We are people who enjoy a good game..AKA We are Gamers.

Not the place for platform wars. Let's stop that tangent right now.
EA have already started one when they rewarded all loyal CONSOLE owners with a huge FU by giving away a free PC game.
Dont you think that if the console owners HAD a PC, that they could play ME2 on, that they might have bought DA 2 on a PC maybe ??
Just a thought, and I apologise for my "PC Elitists" comment, sorry all PC peeps.

Absolutely ridiculous.
The most you should feel really is apathy. You haven't received or lost anything, and your situation hasn't changed at all since yesterday before this giveaway was announced.
You only feel that it is "unfair" because other people are being given a free game and you are not. The mere knowledge of someone elses situation doesn't change your own, and since you never actually paid for the benefit you are not entitled to expect it just because others have been given it.
Anyway, I also have absolutely no use for this giveaway either, but I recognise the benefit for others in it and I am happy for them and don't feel that it is at all "unfair."
Definitely concur with you Ronin. I am not happy about DA2 and the direction, blah blah blah. BUT I do appreciate that Bioware is doing something nice for their fans. And I own ME2 Collectors edition for the PC.
Nice to know you are thinking of us, and I'm happy some folks who never tried ME2 can try the game!
And you're an idiot.
Pffft. Having read your other post on this thread it becomes immediatley apparent who the idiot is. If you are receiving as you put it, 75% of the game for free without the DLC which will then need to be paid for, you are still receiving something for free and are not obligated to buy any of the additional DLC. Further you still have the other option to buy the retail game with the added DLC as you would have before the giveaway was even announced and spend the same amount of money as before on the "complete" game. Therefore it's not like the situation of the consumer has gotten worse.
Unless of course you are stupid enough to end up paying more in the end then you otherwise would have, which judging by your post, you probably are.
Anyway, your criticism is the height of idiocy.
Ronin, I'm not violent poster on forums but I really had enough of your BS, m8, and I don't even give a crap if I'm not in your' cool kids hating DA2' camp. I'm from Serbia, meaning, I have bloody hard time to get BW games, since Baldur's Gate and KOTOR. I had many playthroughs in DA2 as well as in DA:Origins plus Awakening, been reading forums since I managed to get legal copies and DLCs of ME1 and ME2 (thanks to my friend and WoW guildie from UK) and you should really chill out - if you hate the game, don't play it or buy any BW product, but stop berserking here 'cause that's not even 'open minded constructive criticism', tis just pure, well, I don't even know what it is... guess the fact the English is not my mother tongue is limiting me in describing all BS that was going on on these forums since DA2 Demo appeared. I do understand different points of view and being disappointed, but I can't condone pure BS in the name of freedom of speech. That awesome ideal is just being abused here and it's getting tiresome. There is always a choice, if you don't like it, don't buy it or play it, simple as that, m8. I wonder, what would you actually say if you were in my shoes... not being able to buy legally games, refusing to use pirate versions, not being heed by anyone from EA when it comes to purchase difficulties and still finding ways to actually get legal copies... guess, you would be foaming now.
DA2 is different in many ways, and tis OK not to like changes, but players were actually asking for many of them (check out DA:O forums). And it was a bold move to tell a story as if it were a biography, considering that many won't see that... but if you care about DA, then you should actually have multiple playthroughs and see how your choices and character building does matter... hey, even smallest decisions are affecting how the cameos will play out... it's not the same if you're an honest mage (like spirit healer/force mage) that just wants freedom or you're power mongering arse. Ah, there are bugs in pro-templar ending allright, and BW should address those ASAP (andrasterian mage that actually defends mages at the end), but that doesn't mean that DA2 is sheity game made just to take your money.
Well, as I stated b4, sorry for not being 'DA2 hating cool kids camp' and I would not react on posts such as yours, but these forums became so abusive if one says that he/she actually liked the game and played it multiple times and I do feel inclined to defend MY freedom of speak... I think it is nice gesture from BW to give away free ME2 codes (wish it was year and a half ago so I didn't have to go through hell iteself to get an official copy) and I do wish them the best 'cause DA2 was awesome prelude to things that are going to happen. And, if it matters to you, don't bother to spew on this post of mine, 'cause I won't be back to read it... had enough of this 'hate DA2' BS. As I said, I would appreciate constructive critiism, but this denying of everything that was good in DA2 is just insulting, ignorant, and I had enough of it as an old player (and don't you doubt that, I am an older player plus well-educated when it comes to good story-telling).
And for BW from me, if it actually matters, keep the good work and stop catering to forums... learn from Blizzard as they did learn from you - not every multiple-posts threads is allright or good hunch on what you should do. And even though I have ME2 official version, I'm glad you did this nice thing for other players.
HAHAHHAHAHA
Ahh Nimrod, perhaps you should read my posts on this thread a little more carefully next time.
I was actually defending Bioware's decision here, and praising them fully for this decision.

No, I don't think that actually. I have a pc quite capable of playing any of Bioware's game but I chose to buy the games for PS3 simply because I like playing it better on console.

Can someone answer my question please and that is. I've downloaded this game but didn't install it. How can I transfer this game to my son's computer so he can play it because I do not like this type of game.
2) Click Settings.
3) Click the "Browse Game Installers" button.
4) You should then see your email addres inside curly brackets e.g. { an@email.com } double click it.
5) You should then see a folder called mass_effect_2 (or something along those lines) - copy it to an external hard drive, copy on to your Son's computer and run Setup.exe to install.
Thank you I follwed the steps and when I did step 4 and double clicked on the file with my email addy I only see two things which are
1- .lock
2-OfflineCache
On the DWEA manger it has the game with "Ready to Play" showing so now what?
