So if you already have a copy of ME2 sitting on the comp and you redeem your code just for the hell of getting a backup copy to put on a seperate HD [I happen to have the Collector's edition], then that means you can't download what's already there on the machine.
Which in other words I wasted a code....?
Or can I download onto another machine using the same code?

Out of curiosity, what do those of us with ME2 for the PC do with the code? Can we gift it to someone other than ourselves?
same question here, if we can gift out this free copy, it's still a good offer

It was posted earlier (and probably lost in the depths of the thread
now) that its okay to pass the code on if you dont want it(obviously
it'll only work once!) You just need to fill out the form far enough
to get the ME2 code, then pass that to your friend to put into their
EADM.

Quick question: If I gift to a friend, do they get access to the Cerberus Network under their EA account?
They do.

Q4 this year, not sure on the month. But we get New York, planes, tanks, realtime radiocity 32 on 32 multiplayer, knock back from explosions, you can drag fallen teammates to saftey, updated destruction and they recorded the sound at a live ammo training session with the Swedish military. Oh lawdy, I'm begining to perspire.

Thank you!
The FAQ states that "Cerberus Network is included and will be entitled to the account used to redeem your Dragon Age II Online Pass." If you are right, this part of the FAQ is misleading.

Your code was useless to you no matter what (unless for some reason you wanted to create a second EA/BSN account and redeem it with that). The PC CE just comes with the non-game extras and gives you access to some DLC. The game itself, as installed from the disc, is no different from any other version of ME2, and all EA games on PC, once registered, give you access to a free digital copy. I.e., you could've had a digital copy the entire time. All you needed to do was uninstall the game, then fetch the digital version with the EA Download Manager.
But yes: since you could have passed that code on, you wasted it.

The weakness of ME series is that people who haven't played ME2 isn't likely to plan ME3.
So for ME3's sake, Bioware need to enlarge ME2 player base, even by giving away free copies.

as i told my friend this news, they say they would like to have that free copy....as they don't have ME2..

So, you can give away the code for the game itself, but what about Cerberus Network? Is it automatically registered to initial owner of DA2? Or can it be given away too?
I have heard that the person getting the code gets access to the Cerberus Network, but I have my doubts. The FAQ indicates that Cerberus Network is tied to the Black Emporium account, and the screen showed Cerberus Network activated or something similar when getting the ME2 code with my Black Emporium code.
A few more inputs from others would be appreciated.

I own Mass Effect 2 on Steam, can this code be given to a friend? I know someone who will be happy to have it.
Yes. You can give "your" code to a friend and then they follow the redemption process.
Happy happy joy joy =) have a girlfriend who has shown interest in computer games but never really tried them before. We played DA2 together last evening. I keep forgetting how little she knows about computer games. For example. In the early part of the game there is a box outside of lothering, I had mage Hawke so no way of picking the lock.
Me: damn! We've got no rouge.
Friend: what's a rouge?
Jupp, she knows nothing about fantasy games. We ended up having a really fun time, I did the combat, she took control of Hawke during transport and conversations. But a free ME2 will be perfect. She can get a feel for computer games without cashing out too much, then later on I can show her DA:O and DA2 again =) she's saving for a computer now. Hope she'll like it because it would be so much fun to have a girl to talk games with. So far it's only hubby and the guys I know.
Thanks bioware =)
